Yeah, I would like to know as well. IMO, he was not a good president and was a bad world leader.

Though I disagreed with most of his policy, I find it hard to disagree with the fact that Bill Clinton was an effective world leader. The man was a charismatic genious; and he knew how to manipulate facts to justify his cases. A former Rhode's Scholar, he always had the wit to be (or at least appear) successful. I will give him the credit he deserves.

The charismatic ability to change opinions isn't the only thing to being a good world leader
The thing you have to be able to do is really lead the people. All Clinton really knew how to do was campaign.
You have to look at it in broader terms than just that.

I can't remember who said it, but someone said that in order to be a good president (and in turn world leader) you need to be able to persuade. And campaigning is persuading people that you know how to lead. Clinton was a good leader, perhaps he didn't do as much in foreign policy as other presidents, but he was a good leader.

It is a key aspect to leadership, but it's not nearly the only thing. Persuasion and the art of speaking aren't the only things that qualify good leadership. If they were, then I would agree with you. But they aren't.

EDIT: But alas; this topic isn't about world leaders that we don't like, but rather our favorite world leaders. If Clinton's one of your favorite world leaders, I strongly disagree, but more power to ya.

Clinton was an excellent WORLD leader. The world loved him. The western world anyway. Can't say the same for the current pres.

Since there is a "time" restriction, I'll have to go with Abraham Lincoln. The guy definitely had the right idea.

Quote:
I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends - Lincoln

I also think, for the most part, that President Bush's heart is in the right place, but that he can be a bit of a dunderhead...

In reality, my favorite is Gaius Julius Caesar.

Some runners up would be Paul Revere & the boys; Joseph Warren, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, John Adams, and of course, William Prescott. (Yes, I realize he's less known, but hey, it's cool for me, since we can trace the family tree straight back.)

Now that you bring up distant relatives, here's a good world leader (well, as a general, not as a President): Ulysses S. Grant, the general who can be credited with winning the Civil War for the North. I'm related to him

To be fair, I have to add Benedict Arnold. He did A LOT of good for this country before betraying it.

My Dad's family can trace back to some king in Scotland, but I don't find that nearly as cool. JMO, though.

Never heard of him, and don't believe I"m related to him either
The only leaders/major historical figures I'm related to are the said two

And lol. Speaking on relations to the great general US Grant, last year, at the Future Business Leaders of America competition, I was practicing my speech on Secularism to an aquaintance-turned friend. I commented on how US Grant signed Christmas into law, and he said, "My distant relative." lol. I met a guy I'm distantly related to at my school. It was funny. I jokingly call him "Distant Cousin" usually.

Sorry, guys. Hardly learned anything about French history. Personally, I don't care much. It's unimportant to me
But that is cool, though.
