Although Robertson's been making such comments for longer than some of you have been alive (back in the 80s he was claiming that women in the workplace would lead this country into all sorts of dire situations, he blamed the 9/11 attacks on gays, Pagans and liberals, and so on), and I've no hope that he won't do it again, your advice is dead on. Turn the other cheek.

If people don't pay attention to him, he'll lose any influence he might still retain. I've been ignoring his idiocies for years.

If you all don't like him, then don't watch him. Don't worry about what he does or what he says. It is on him not you. Just my opinion.

I don't watch his show. It just bugs me that someone who calls himself a man of God keeps making such ignorant comments. I will believe that he is sincere if he is more careful in the future. I'm not saying he isn't, I'm just saying I'm not sure.

Exactly. If you read that wikipedia link and read through all the stuff he's said... It's really just amazing that he functions in society at all.

Tear him up all you will. I'm not going to attack him like that.

But guys, where's the uproar over Harry Belefante's statements, calling the President the "world's biggest terrorist" on the soil of an enemy of the United States. Before this, he kisses Mrs. Arafat. He's met with Fidel Castro.
Why, now, after he apologized, is there still an uproar against Robertson when Belefante said this--and not only once, but TWICE, at two separate times--and will NEVER apologize for it? I think it's a bigger deal than this, especially when you have a sincere apology from a pastor.
(And btw, I think he's different since the one 80s comment, because he always has a female cohost who seems to take a liking to him )

Well, the topic isn't about Belefante, but I don't see anybody supporting anything that he says, either. But feel free to make a topic.

Your Senator Clinton went to an event in which Belafante spoke
And I think it's absolutely relevant to this discussion. Robertson apologized. There's no real reason to continue--at least that I can see--so I think it should be expanded to encompass people like Belafante, who people really should be complaining about.

I know; but she is your senator. I didn't mean "your," as in she fits your ideology, but your state's senator.

Well, everyone knows shes a little strange.

But I'm sure that many people have been to events at which he's spoken. It isn't as if he's just some rogue speaker with almost no reputation. But, this topic isn't about him.

Anyway, I can't wait for the next controversy that Robertson is going to be the cause. I wonder what he'll do... oh that's right! Apologize.

Well, if there is another controversey, what would you expect him to do? Nothing?

I'm actually hoping he learns from this one...

No. As I said, I'd expect him to apologize. No need to ruin such a great track record. It still amazes me how he can claim to be a Christian.
