Approved by Founder.
I just thought it might be good to actually create a topic about the Database simply to remind people about it.
You can find it here.
I really want to get it moving now and don't want it to have to be shut down or something because there are no submissions or anything (and I don't want the assistance SevenOfNine [Danni] gave to me to be a waste; it's just not right, ya know?).
So if everyone could please take some time to look at it and submit things (AT THE SITE), that would be great. Feel free to discuss the database otherwise here, but if it's relevant to a topic in the site forums there, please discuss it there.
Thank you.

Guys, I don't know if Danni and Johnny are paying to keep the site alive, but they're giving me this site FOR FREE when they usually CHARGE MONEY for hosting. For the last time: if people don't start helping me out over there, and visiting it often and stuff, I'm going to tell them to shut it down. I don't want them to have to worry about it anymore, in whatever way they, themselves, do. They were nice and gave me the site for free, and now no one's helping me to work on it? That's not right. I'll tell them to shut it down if stuff doesn't happen by the end of this month.
So please, let's start cracking on that database.

That doesn't really clarify.
Like you want our BIOS?
Anything other than that?

Bios (in a specific format) on characters (your own [singular OR PLURAL, like in Micteth's case] or those of recurring/non-recurring characters), info on organizations that are involved in the RPG, info on ships involved in the RPG, episode synopsises, technology in the RPG, key incidents, wars, etc in the RPG, vehicles in the RPG, locations in the RPG, and species in the RPG. Anything in the Encyclopedia categories, which are listed on the left side of the site.

Most of that stuff is information that only I have. So the only thing the others need to deal with is BIOs, but only when they can. People are going through a lot with school just starting and everything. So I'll get you that information when I can.

Well, for instance, Micteth has his Marine ship he would provide info about.
Exalya would more than likely know what medical technology would be in the RPG.
Tach knows engineering technology.
Val knows a lot about S31 and could come up with info on that.
There are a number of things other members can provide, but yes, you are the bulk of it, more than likely.

If you could join the database, located at http://dsgdatabase.startrekking.co.uk/phpnuke/, that would be great. You should be able to find all the information on the format I would like for the bios there either in the character's encyclopedia category or the forum.

lol--my apologies for not specifying. Everyone's joined as their character name, except for myself and the only non-DSG member of the site. It's no big deal; I'll just change your name tomorrow but let you know about it , but either way, if you could post your bio in the appropriate topic in the forum over there, that would be great!

Just to let everyone know, J&D Hosting--Danni's hosting site, which she is letting me have the database site for free from--is going to be offline in the coming days for a server change.
Once the site has been successfully changed to a new server I would definitely like people to do all that they can in making contributions so that the Database is really worth it--really worth the costs to Danni and Johnny when I'm not paying them for it.
Thank you.

Hey, I was just thinking that it might be easier to, at least for now, if possible, add in a Wiki database, in the form of Wikipedia or Trek Wikis, etc. That way everyone can edit their own info without relying on me and all that, and I can eventually transfer far more things over to the current database site, which has much more of a Trek look than we could get on a Wiki.
What do you guys think?

Either way, everyone, SevenOfNine, who gave us the site FOR FREE, is helping me to set up the Wikipedia aspect to it, a DSG wiki.
I want to have it to make it easier on me, as one reason. This means that any of you can go in and add new articles and stuff to it yourself. Plus, it'll be cool, having our own little Wikipedia.
Now, this isn't to say that I'm shutting down the PHPNuke. Far from it. I'll be keeping the forum up for discussion and stuff on it, as well as eventually adding stuff to it, once we have a bunch more information and stuff. This is because of the awesome Trek look of the current part and stuff. I don't want it to go to waste, either.
So, what do you guys think, then? Do you like the idea? What do you think?

You should deff not delete the stuff from the Wiki site. Allowing people to write thier own articals, and edit at will, allows for an interactivity, and will allow people to update things needed at will

yeah, the Make up is hard to learn, but It's pretty fun to tinker around with. Once you learn it, its pretty fun to do. This could allow the other site for other things, games or special events maybe? *shrugs*

Perhaps, but I don't know. We can figure that out later, though--or discuss it here. But I would kind-of like to keep the current database's focus on what it is now, though we can add more things to it

Only attached to http://dsgdatabase.startrekking.co.uk. Well, actually the main page.
Basically it'll be only as public as the database currently is

lol, yeah. Only as public as you want it
Anyone can read it, given the proper link, but yeah. Probably only people at STV will see it, unless members tell others to go to and stuff.

lol. Well, the Wiki stuff has been set up, and, well, let's just say I've jumped into a pool of water well over my head
I, uh, really don't know how to work it...
I'm hoping Danni can help me get things set up, 'cause all the stuff I'm reading on it is just too complicated
