It's the "INFINITE" wonders of Star Trek. LOL...I thought it would be funny to use "infinite" in my post...
anyway, ya, but what can we say, they were heavily equipped. It doesn't make sense. In season five's (I think it was five) "Alice" when Tom wants that shuttle, Chakotay says, "Tom we already have a full complement of shuttles, including the Delta Flyer." Yet they had already lost a great deal of shuttles, so where does the FULL complement come from?! It's just a thing about Trek, what can we say?! haha.

Well, I'd say that if they lost a shuttle, they'd just build another using the replicator for a majority of it. Would also assume they'd have collected debris from time to time as well.

Maybe there are a lot of people working on the shuttle department and start building a new one as soon as one is lost?

It's like this with a lot of things in VOY. At the start they were all concerned about their torpedo, fuel and food supplies all of the time. They fired... what? One torpedo in season one? And that was only as a last resort, Obviously TPTB decided to abandon that aspect of the whole 'isolated' thing later on and it was very rarely touched on in the later seasons.

But like when they wanted to build the Delta Flyer, they were a little worried about supplies to build it to begin with. But because of the importance of having it they needed to build one. Then when they got "Alice," they were like, "we already have a full complement, not to mention we don't have supplies to spare." So, they couldn't constantly replace shuttles everytime they lost one.
About their torpedo situation, ya, but then again one could guess that they built more. I mean, the idea is a little far fetched, but it's more logical to assume that than just pretend they had an infinite amount.

ya, the could replicate parts for the torpedoe because they had torpedoe casings

I think they replicate parts and they could also take the debray from their own shuttle to go towards the new ones. I also think instead of keeping the ship in 'Alice' they should have taken it apart and kept the pieces as spare for a more imprtant time. They could have covered a breach on voyager with it when the replicaters were down like in 5.2 the first one when B'ellana done it on the shuttle. It wouldn't be forever just until the replicaters were fixed.

Ya. I would believe they made torpedoes more than just brand new shuttles. But at the same time, they did have to conserve energy though. And not use the replicators for such meaningless things. But, at the same time, if it were my decision, everytime we brough on new stores of Dilithium and Deuterium, I would replicate all the parts I need and such, (as well as food stores that could be frozen for Neelix) and then restock up Dilithium and Deuterium so that way you have all brand new parts and food and you still have a full stock of Dilithium and Deuterium.
I believe Janeway probably did this anyway, but it was never saw on screen and it should have been.

Yeah if they replicate the parts, as they might have did with the delta flyer then that throws away the whole idea of 'replicator rashions'
There is also the issue of why we never saw the captains yacht, why they built the delta flyer instead of using that, how the delta flyer actually fits inside the shuttle bay (the blue prints show that the entrance is too small the cgi in the show shrinks the actual size of the delta flyer when in shots with voyager). How they can have so many torpedos, shuttles, supplies, fit so many shuttles, and nelllixs ship and whatever alien ships in the shuttle bay all at once.

Yeah, and I don't think they could replicate torpedoes, or the parts for them, even if they wanted to. That would be kind of silly after all the fuss they made about having a limited supply. Janeway even says the line "and no way to replace them when they're gone", IIRC, in the episode The Cloud, referring to their photon torpedoes.

I agree with you it's a lot of ships to fit in one shuttle bay on one ship, the ship may look big but i doubt it can fit all those in.

I was recently wondering how many shuttles Voyager had becauseit seems that one shuttle gets destroyed or lost every couple episodes. It seems it was an oversight by the writers (probably Braga ).

I was just wondering, how many shuttles does Voyager have to start off with?

- LOL... It would see that Chakotay would say that wouldn't he. LOL. He crashed so many shuttles.
You know - everyone on Voyager must have been some horrible pilots. Considering the fact that Chakotay's suposed to be the best pilot under Paris. And look at his track record.

I think they salvage parts of the destroyed flyers and replicate some parts in order to entirely rebuild one. That would be the most obvious explanation, or something in that order.
It's also likely that the writers overlooked this, same as they overlooked the crew population. The number of crewmen on Voyager has fluctuated despite the fact that several have died over the course of the series, and only around eight have been added. The number of the crew has been as few as 125 and as many as 160.

Yes, look at his track record...but he's still alive...so he mustn't be THAT bad...

If they can replicate parts so easily, then why was it a problem for food? and they went on rations? In all honesty, its more costly to replciate engineering parts. Food is...recycled...

Parts are recycled too...
Now, I read it somewhere, I think it was in a book though, so it may not be canon, but makes PERFECT sense...was that "replicated food was merely appropriate protein and nutrients and vitamins put in a solid form of food that looked, smelled, and tasted like the real thing."
I know the way I described makes it seem like it's just regular food and all, but the book I read described it well...I can't remember where it was I read it or what book, but I think it was within the last year...
Now how that works with parts and such, I don't know...since we don't want to eat parts...lol
