Don't know if people that like star trek DON't know this but here goes:

Even if you are going as fast as the speed of light it will take 8 minutes to get to the sun and 4 years to the nearest star.

The milkyway is about 3000 lightyears thick.

The andromeda galaxy is around 220 thousand lightyears in diameter (the milky way around 200 thousand)

According to English/western folklore, magpies (especially single ones) are thought of as being unlucky. The story goes that they were shunned by God for not wearing all black at christ's death (dumb story, eh?).
BUT in Korea, magpies are lucky. If people see a magpie, they believe it predicts the arrival of a vistor.

It's odd how many things are negative on the western side but positive or lucky in Eastern folklore. Examples include bats and dragons.
