Captain Sisco lived in New Orleans and even visited home several times so New Orleams i guess is ok in the future and Katrina never really affects the future that much.

Well the French Quarter was actually not hit that hard. It will survive. Not to mention, that by that point, it could probably rebuilt. We also have to take into consideration that Star Trek isn't real. 
I believe Star Trek canon has established that in the 90s, the Eugenics wars was going on, on Earth. Well....I guess not....

I think that they should rebuild it, but it should be done with private money, not with federal dollars.

I hope they don't rebuild it simply because in another 5 years another hurricane will come and destroy it agian, then everyone will have to go through the same hardships again. New Orleans is basically in a bowl and was built in a bad area.

Monster, Your saying that the possibility of another hurricane is a reason to tell people they can't have their homes/lands back?
Back on topic.
Andorian Ambasodor, Trek is fiction, but, in the case that the disaster did happen, rember that it is in the 24th century, circa 2370's. More then enough time to repair somehting that was damaged in 2005.

I agree with Lord Borg on this. I mean for Trek, it would be no problem like it is now. Trek has more tech and better equipped. I hope I am making sense.

As to answer your question, I you look at the fiquares, every citizen is already getting 300K in federal aid, not to mention any insurance that they already had, not to mention that all the priviate assisatanc( in the 100 mill range) and whatever might still come down the road. I just think that the people of, if the spend well, and are wise with the money, could rebuild with all that has already been designated for the rebuild. To clarify what I said eariler, I really mean that the rebuild should, for the rest, come from private, not public, dollars

Not to be rude anything, but neworleans is still there, Biloxi isn't. more then a few historical houses are driftwood, and well, why is everyone complaining about new orleans?! They should be happy they are alive instead of blameing people >.< now I'm getting off topic, I'll stop now ^.^

It's a bad area for a city... how many feet below sea level? 20'... 30'...more? I think, whoever doesn't want to move, knows the consequences and shouldn't be illegible for federal aid. It's crazy how people love living in dangerous areas and then whine when something bad happens to them.
Also, if they reelect the same mayor, that will prove that the New Orleanians are insane. When I think of that mayor, I think about all the empty buses on the lot, and how he's gonna make New Orleans a chocolate city. 
I bet, that they don't reinforce those levies. The year 2006 will be the last year of New Orleans existence, if there's another level 5 hurricane.
Now, this would never happen if Sisko was mayor!
