Wed Nov 30, 2005 8:50 pm A Note on Forums... |
|
Another forum which I frequent often had an event recently that brought to my attention something I thought I'd share with the rest of you.
Less than 5 days ago, a prominent member of that forum came down with pneumonia, and died not long afterwards.
Sometimes we forget that the text we read is written by a real person.
Anyway, just a thought. If you consider the people on a particular forum your friends, it would be thoughtful if you were to leave instructions with family in the event of your passing to make an effort to go online and inform forum members of the news.

Good Post: Though we often butt heads along the way; I believe we'd probably all get along in reality. There are definately some awesome personalities around these parts, and I hope that we can acknowledge them.

I agree with you, LB. And btw, you don't use a semicolon there. It's a comma

No offense, but if I were to die, informing the people on this forum wouldn't be at the top of my family's to do list. And I wouldn't want it to be. I recently lost a very good friend of mine, and his family had a million things that needed to be taken care of. Its not fair that they are expected to do all of this and grieve at the same time.

I agree, robbie. That's why I would say that if one WERE to do this, they should perhaps say either wait until you're ready to do it, if you think of it, or have a note hidden somewhere so that when they clean out the room or whatever they could find it. It's dark, but nonetheless.
I wonder what the experience would be like at STV if I died...
That's just like I wondered what the experience would be like at school if I died, a thought made after this one kid died at a Football thing playing Football, and, well, yeah, it got me thinking, the reaction from everyone...
And Cathexis, because of my edjumacation, I'm a gramaar Natzi.

While I am sure it wouldnt be at the top of thier list, if you had a list of "final wishes" I am sure someone would take care of it.

I'd been thinking about this thing lately, too. My family would know it's important to me, I think, but I'd be sure to leave a note. A lot of my friends are people I only know online--and more than that, from STV. I would want someone to tell them.

Yeah, it was a joke. Try sounding it out. It was a joke about how I'm always correcting people's grammar, etc, and was purposely using incorrect grammar as the joke
Big N? Nazi? It's not a bad word. Besides, I didn't spell it correctly anyways. But they're evil people, so I don't see how it's a big deal. Besides, it was a joke about myself with regards to grammar.
Anyways, back on topic...
I think I'll leave some sort of message for family to let you all know at one point. But that would be a sad day for STV. No RM in WN. What could you all do without me?

basically if anything ever happened to me one of my friends has a list of Things to do and people to inform, her instructions include "to get drunk, not cry or anything, make sure that all my online contacts know, make sure my parents dont get their hands on my secret stash" etc etc
