PostSun Nov 20, 2005 7:24 pm    Tony Stewart - 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Champ!

A 15th place finish in tonight's race was enough to clinch the top spot for the top NASCAR division! Tony Stewart again proves he is the most talented driver in the world.

A true Champion! Go Tony!

I don't understand NASCAR at all. Never have, never will. I think it's quite stupid. But despite my personal beliefs, Congrats Tony!

'The only true sports are Auto Racing, Mountain Climbing, and Bull Fighting; the rest are mere games.'
-Ernest Hemmingway

Nowhere else do you get to watch every team run every race every week; nowhere else.

In my experience most people who don't like (understand) NASCAR have the 'it's just going in circles' mentallity. Well it is, if you see the perspective of "Car vs. Track" but you really need to look at racing as "Car vs. Car" 43 times over. There's a lot more to it than most people know, and many people are finally catching on. (Even though racing is nowhere near as good as it was in the early 90s)

On a sidenote, no other sport has athletes quite as charitable as NASCAR. On average, the NASCAR driver gives more of his income to charitable organizations than any other sport; as well as being actively engaged in programs like Kyle Petty's Victory Juntion Camp for special needs kids, the Make a Wish foundation, and the United Way.

I would still rather watch the Episode I Podrace than a NASCAR race

A phrase comes to mind:

If you don't have anything nice to say...

...but then again, NASCAR fans are used to it, those who don't understand it, don't respect it. *Yeah, it's just a bunch of hicks rolling around in circles!*

I don't like it, but I can respect it. Sure, it's just them racing cars, but it's not easy. I know that.
I can't stand watching a NASCAR race, but I still respect it and the drivers.

Tony Stewart in my opinion is a whiner.. I don't like him... I definetly don't like Jeff Gordon either. Any nascar driver but them two. Simple thing is cause Jeff Is a cheat and Tony is a whiner. That is just my opinion.

Give your opinion anyway? Sheesh, can't handle a lil critism on that sport?
