PostThu Nov 03, 2005 2:32 am    Whats Your Favorite Bible Verse/s

I know some of you might have alot of them, but pick out your favorite post it and then say why it's your favorite.

Myn'e is

Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earh and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse army. But the beast was captured and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculos signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had recived the mark, and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horses, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

Revelation 19:19-21

I really like this verse because it is when the enemy is being defeated and it go's into detail of what will happen to him (the beast...aka..... antichrist)

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son so that everyone may have everlasting life....

I like Psalms 91:1-16 When Charlie was in Iraq those two times, I said that scripture out loud.

Post it in Dutch, with the book and verse numbers and we should be able to find it in English.

Mine's Psalm 23:

Quote:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you" (Matthew 5:43-44).

Matthew 23:23 wrote:
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Oh yeah, silly me. I can just name the book and chapter.

Its Johannes Chapter 13 verse 31 and 32.

It's John 13:31-32

Quote:
Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

Its was mine Nadia.

i also like this one:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the enequities of the selfishness and the tiranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness for he is truly his brothers keeper and the finder of lost children. And i will strike down opun thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers, and you will know my name is the lord when i lay my vengeance upon thee.

(if anybody can guess why?)

its from 2 seperate verses though.

There's a verse someone told me about someone with discrace having to have their sandal taken from them and be known as the "one who has had his sandal unthronged".. but I can't remember where it is.

Judges 4 verse 21- "Sisera was exhausted and soon fell fast asleep. Jael took a hammer and drove a tent peg through his head into the ground, and he died."

Also, the whole of Revelation chapter 4. It's about animals covered inside and out with eyes.

King James Version is my favorite.

Okay, here goes...

"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies..."-Proverbs 31: 11?

NIV version, meh...but it's what I have in front of me...

"For you have been my hope, O Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on you..." -Psalm 71

"Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me..."- Psalm 43

I do have many favorites...but those are my top three at the moment that I feel are prevelant.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, 9 for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

-Matt. 5:10-12

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden
.

-Matt. 5: 14

Rom 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, angels nor demons, the present nor the future, nor any powers,
height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It stems from Matthew 22.39 - "Love your neighbor as yourself."
