Sun Oct 16, 2005 6:55 pm Is Seinfeld any good? |
|
There have been so many great shows over the years, but one could not possibly follow them all. There are only so many hours in the day, and there are a few shows which just passed me by.
A friend of mine tells me I should watch Seinfeld. He sent me an e-mail telling me it's funny. Only he is on holiday now, and I can't get any more information off him.
Is it any good? Is it good or very good? Are there any fans here? If so, what do you think of this show? I know I could find a Seinfeld site if I looked, but I want to hear people's views - what's the premise of the show, and do you like it?
Thanks.

Seinfeld is one of my favorite shows. It's right up there with Cheers, Law and Order, Hannity and Colmes, and the O'Reilly Factor (and the Simpsons is up there). It's a great show.
Oh, and by the way: "No soup for you!" (Seinfeld, Soup Nazi)

Should I rent it or is it worth buying? (Season 1, I'm talking about)

I thought Seinfield sucked as well. It was not funny in my opinion. I could not even watch an whole episode without fallin asleep seriously.

It's one of the funnier sitcoms in recent years.
But that's not really saying much. Anything with a laugh track can't be that funny.

Season one isn't the best example of humor...you have to go to the latest season you can find. And I would rent first, just to see what it's like. Or watch it on TBS every afternoon (somewhere between 4 and 6; the time zone stuff there confuses me). It's also on your local Fox station. And those are later seasons, too, which are even better than the earlier ones, even though the earlier ones are good. I recently rented a disc Season 3. There are some really good episodes there.

Thanks for all your views, folks. To be truthful, I've only ever heard positive reviews of the show (some bordering on sycophantic), so it's been interesting to read some negative views of the show, and views that are not sycophantic, but still give credit where it is due.

Used to enjoy it, think it's a bit lame nowadays.
