I think the idea of this movie is wierd because doom is not really a great game for one and the second thing the movie might just be about the marines arriving on a place full monsters and is forced to kill them all which is not a good storyline.
I would not recommend doom the movie even though the Rock (Dwayne Johnson) is playing the lead role.

Doom not a good game? Have you lost your mind? Doom is the essence of all games.

I didn't know Doom was a game but I think the movie will be awesome since The Rock is going to be in it. Anything with him in it, is good.

I agree, Deb. Not all wrestlers have become successful actors but The Rock has (wrestling is part-time to him now). I think he makes a likeable character in all his movies, so I'll be seeing Doom.
By the way, I've never heard of the game. I'll be approaching the film with an open mind.

My sister and I used to play Doom 95 years and years ago and it was endless fun, but only when we played cooperative. We're both eager to watch the film

This movie should prove to be interesting. I dont know how many of you have heard, but they're doing a new style of filming to make it seem more like the DOOM 3 game.
They're doing many of the shots from a First Person Point of View. That's right, they're doing shots like you'd see if you were playing the game itself.
For those who want a look at it, http://media.filmforce.ign.com/media/490/490104/vids_1.html
it's the "Inside Doom" video.

^See, now I think that it looks weird doing that. A first person perspective movie seems kind of off to me.

That sounds cool. Doom was the first game in first person 3D, making the movie look like the game might proof too be cool.
But i first have to see it.

I've seen the trailer each and every time I saw Serenity.
It looks moderately "cool", but not in any way "good". If you get that distinction.

I've played Doom and Doom 2 many years ago as well. It was loads of fun. But as for the movie, I'm not sure. I have a feeling it's not going to be good at all.

When I saw the trailer, the enitre theatre started snickering...I don't think I'll be seeing it, since it looks like it's going to be a joke of a film to me(and not in a good way...).

It looked like Resident Evil to me...
Not really a fan though of that but I have been on the Doom game and that seemed pretty good. Having seen that, films based on games don't rank too highly with me (Tomb Raider is another example).
Will probably still end up seeing it though

I enjoyed the Resident Evil films, but as I hadn't played the games, I had no preconceived notions about it. I also enjoyed House of the Dead recently (it was a good mindless zombie movie).
However, few games translate well to the big screen. Remember Super Mario Bros, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Tomb Raider? The films weren't total disasters, but none of them will ever be compared to Citizen Kane, and they did just appear to be films churned out with little thought.

I could name 1,000 better games than doom, even though its ok.
ps. don't ask me to name 1,000 because I won't.

Really? Hm, I thought it was all right. I loved the BFG of course, and the First Person Point of View was much cooler than I thought, though it was hard to tell what exactly was happening aside from the guy gunning down monsters. I haven't played Doom 3 so I don't know what that's about, but it was nothing like the first Doom. Were those monsters even demons? Hrm. I probably missed something, I always miss a lot the first time I see a movie. I'd give it a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. By the way, I missed the very beginning because the idiots wrote that it started about 10 minutes after it really did. Not much, probably mostly previews and such but I might've missed something.

I played the original and Doom II a few times. Never really got a solid handle on it, though.
My opinion of a travesty was the number of people who didn't go to Serenity, so I suppose we all have different definitions of the word.
