Tue Sep 27, 2005 7:26 pm Steerlers lose to Patriots only after clock error... |
|
How lucky can the Pats get? It seems the NFL "Mysteriously" lost 52 seconds off the time clock causing the Steelers to be stuck with the ball with only 1 second left. I've theorized for a long time that the Pats' sucess was thanks to some outside forces, refs seem to look the other way sometimes with them... They're quickly becoming my least favorite team...
Go Steelers... As far as i'm concerned, the win and loss should be stripped from both teams' records. It should go in the record books as a tie. This game technically never finished.

Yeah, it helped the Pats, but it couldn't have been meant to help them when it was so much earlier in the game. If the game had gone differently it might have wound up helping the Steelers so I don't see any conspiracy here.
Although, in those playoff games against the Colts....

Yeah, it was earlier in the quarter, but with a game won within one FG, 52 seconds changes EVERYTHING.
It should be recorded as a tie.

Again, it was an error, and like mentioned above, had things gone differntly, it would have helped the steelers.

Man, that game had me hangin my head at the end. The end of that game was so suspensful. I was there...that stadium got so loud...and I never screamed so much in my life. But anywayz yeah...all I can say about that game was that they didn't beat us, we beat ourselves. That wasn't no victory. Pats and they're fans can say what they wan't. You didn't beat no one. It was our own damn fault we lost. Too many mistakes.

Nobody won or lost the game, since the game hasn't ended.
There should still be 52 seconds on the clock.

The most that's going to happen is that they'll give the Steelers a better pick. This happened to another team last year, too.
According to ESPN, the game would have been tied anyway, would have gone into overtime, and the Pats still would have most likely won. Even Steelers players say this, Roethlissberger included.
But, I'd be pissy if this had happened to the Patriots, so, rant away.
(DemonClassY, "Foote - Today they showed us why they are the champions". Seems like he thinks they got beat? You can make all the mistakes you want, it's capitalizing on them that counts.)

Yeah, there was a lot of "looking the other way". But who's fault was that? The refs.
Oh, and on the timeclock thing, the coaches, the players, none of them noticed it. Place the blame where it's due? "I don't like the Patriots because they got a break"? Come on.
Especially as Chris said, it could have been to the benefit of either team.

I was just joking about the Colts thing. Yeah, it was the refs fault.

the NFL didn't lose 52 sec. the patriots drove the ball into field goal range and ran the clock down and then kicked the field goal
