PostFri Sep 16, 2005 7:24 pm    Video camera-computer upload question

Alright, we have a video camera that has S-video out and A/C output (with a cord that has the 3 prongs), but no other ways of connecting to the TV or computer. I want to find a cheap solution to being able to capture footage from my camera on the computer (using Pinnacle Studio 8 software), and I was wondering if anyone here knew of it. I have a firewire card, but my camera won't plug into it, and my video card has S-video on it, but it, too, is S-video out.
I would really like some input ASAP. If you an help me, please do. Thanks.

I think I found something, actually, that's only $50 on NewEgg. Unless anyone can tell me something good that's cheaper than that, I think I'll go with it.

yeah, I know what your talking about now. Unforutinitly, I am not to sure on how to set it up with your computer, unless they do make them wth the other ends for a USB connection, which in turn would go into your computer.

Go with a USB 2.0 device. Unless you have really fast (3GHz +) processor, a card-type solution will give you bad performance. A good one will run you $175 or more, the under-$100 ones are garbage.

I found the Pinnacal card, which I've heard good things about, and I only want to spend $50 on it, so at least for now I will be getting it. And my camera doesn't have USB capabilities.

What I meant was a video encoder which would take S-video input and convert it into mpeg, which goes to your PC via USB.

Good luck on the Pinnacle - hope you have a smokin' processor.
