Is having a pre-STAR TREK series set in the 22nd century the right direction for trek? Having already gotten used to the 24th century from the 23rd, I think going back two centuries is not right in the least.

It's just like the opposite of having TNG show in the 24th century and having TOS movies in the 23rd century at the same time. Only this time, it is ENT show in 22nd century and TNG movies in 24th century. It is likley, that since STVI ended in '91, we will be stuck with ENT before a new series will come [hopefully]. As it took DS9 a year before airing.

Berman said that w/ Enterprise they are trying to make the show more realistic, more relevant to fans. That all of the stuff so far into the future is all just fantasy. I thought that that was what Trek was, but then, I'm just a fan, what do I know? j/k

Aparently, George Takei concures with me. He said on TREKTODAY that Gene Roddenbarry did not want to see Star Trek go back in time; the reason why Gene even INVENTED next generation, is to go FORWARD, and pass it on to Berman. Who appearently does not understand. He just thinks it's the fans with the problems, well he shouldn't be surprised if the show cancels.

The whole idea of tre is to evole and build onm what it has accomplished. That is also the basic idea of exploaration. I think that creating a series that looks back on the past is not a good idea. I think that the writters will make too many mistakes becasue they will have four series to have to check up on to make sure what they same in Enterprsie works for the whole time line. I think that Post-Voyager Show would be much better.

They should go forwards in time, not backwards.

I think it's great that they are going into the past. It would be interesting to see how the Federation and Starfleet came to be. I think this series will be a big hit.

By going backwards they get to cover the things that we never have seen yet. WE just jumped ahead of ourselves and saw fancy ships and weaponry, and we didn't see how all that realy impacted every one, cause it was like we were born with that technology.

I think it is a good idea...it will help expand Trek's horizon, and hopefully also get new viewers, as it will be more relevant to them, and not just Trek babble they can't understand, LOL. Also, I think it will be interesting to see Starfleet when it was new, versus a worldrenown establishment in other Treks.

yeah it will be good.
but if we had one in the future we could see some cool designed ships and see how the federation and the other races have evolved, technology wise and in there understanding of the galaxy.

i think enterprise is good. it explains how we first met the klingons(a klingon shuttle crash landed in a farmers field) and about all the other aliens we've met. it's just gonna be difficult because of the lack of technology and graphics in the 60's we're gonna have to make enterprise look less advanced. but our cell phones are smaller than their communicators back then. so what are they gonna do

I kind of agree with my mom. It seems that they wanted those who hated Star Trek to like it better.

I agree with Dax Orien's Mother. I am disappointed with the new series: Enterprise. The commericals for it make it look like a damn Soap Opera in space. This new series is looking all to much like Melrose Place set in the 22nd century. Also I think that the desicion to go back to the past was a mistake. I really wanted to see some guest stars from voyager reappear on the new series. Chakotay rocks!!!! And worst of all we won't every be graced by the lovely Seven Of Nine again!!!
I am petitioning Paramount
While many think they don't care about fans anymore, they sure will if we ALL speak out about the foolish direction the series is taking!!
