Going by Starfleet and how they determine ship classes, usually the first ship of a class carries the class name. This would mean that the NX-Enterprise, is a "Enterprise"
Class. And it carries the NX, because it is a first of it's kind vessel for Starfleet.

I have read on the internet somewhere that it is an "Enterprise" class although I do not know if that is true as I have only seen "Broken Bow".

NX means the ship is experimental. Since it is the only NX class ship it coul;d either be considered an Enterprise class ship or an NX class ship.

If they said in the series that Enterprise is NX Class, then Brannon Braga is on crack. :^)

Generally, the ship classes are named after the first ship of their class. Thus, one of the Galaxy Class Enterprise's predecessors was the U.S.S. Galaxy, one of the Intrepid Class Voyager's was the U.S.S. Intrepid, etc. Defiant is Defiant Class, since it's the first of its kind. By this rule, Enterprise NX-01 is Enterprise Class.

Then again, the registry number doesn't fit the trend (it should start with NX-1701), so maybe they didn't have the class-naming rule around then either. (NX and NCC don't seem to be numbered differently, considering that Defiant's number is NX-74205 and Voyager is NCC-74656. I doubt there have been as many NX ships as NCCs.)

(I just realized something..wasn't there a Voyager episode when they found a supposedly-Starfleet ship with the registry number NX-01-A, but the name was something like U.S.S. Delphine? Granted, the guys who mocked up the ship might not have known that it should have been named Enterprise, but the Voyager crew should've caught that...)

I think it's the "A" that disqualifies it as Enterprise

NX-01-A is different from NCC-1701-A, no 17 before the 01.
