Personally I think it sucked the way Kirk died, but I don't really see how they can rectify that, other than in books, which has already been done. Of course, someone could go into the Nexus again, and we could see him again, but there wouldn't really be any point to that.

In Star Trek: Generations, Kirk jumped onto a bridge to get a remote, which was needed to stop a trilitium weapon from destroying an inhabited star system. The bridge broke and he fell with it. He died with Picard bending over him.
