Fri Mar 05, 2010 8:32 pm Question about the comm badge????? |
|
Something Ive always noticed about the comm badge is when someone uses it to talk to someone else, their voice is already patched through to the person they called even before they said who they were going to talk to. Example, Tuvok says "Tuvok to Capt. Janeway", Janeway would hear that entire sentence but how did the comm badge know to connect him to Janeway when all he could of said is "Tuvok to".
Hopefully you guys understand what im talking about. Its probably been asked before but i was wondering if any of the writers had explained it. I figured they could just say the comm badge reads your mind or something and automatically knows who you want to talk to. I signed up to these forums just to ask this question. Thanks guys.

Ive always thought it was work on a time delay, so that when you said "Tuvok to Capt. Janeway" It would play the delayed message immediately, if that makes sense

It is one of those technologies that was never explained. And seems to be incorrect. Maybe the name of the receiver must be said before it is patched through.
