Mon Sep 29, 2008 3:02 am What "job" would you want on a Star Ship? |
|
Ok, forgive me if this one has been posted before, but I couldn't find it in the search. Which Job would you want on a Star Ship? And just to add a little to it...which ship would you like to serve on in that job?
I would definitely want to be a Doctor on either Voyager or Enterprise-D.

I'd have to agree with cesar5000 on that one, I would love to be the captain of a Sovereign-class starship because I feel I have great leadership skills and would be able to gain the respect of my crew in order to make the ship function and have everyone onboard functipon as a cohesive unit !

i'd want to be a scientific researcher. there's so much to be learned when traveling the galaxy.
you could discover new cosmic/natural phenomena, study new forms of life, and learn about the universe and its origins through astrology/cosmology.
being on a star ship, you'd never run out of exotic things to study or research. and you'd be able to conduct all kinds of neat experiments, whether it's probing alien planets, observing supernovae/pulsars/black holes, or attempting to create wormholes.
and being in space you can also safely conduct lots of experiments that would be dangerous on earth. and the galaxy and sovereign class star ships both have powerful supercomputers and high tech facilities for conducting advanced research.
it would also be cool to explore alien technology and exchange knowledge with other civilizations. you'd be able to build stuff like advanced robotics, design your own shuttlecraft, or create an invisibility cloak. =P

I'd like to be a doctor, but there aren't many jobs on a starship I wouldn't want to do

I would probably want to be the first officer. Not only do you get to be in command quite a bit, but you also get to lead the away teams.

I'd be a security officer at Star-Fleet Command: the character I dress up as when I go to conventions is a Lt. who is a security lead at SFC

It would all really depend on the starship, or the class, I suppose. Personally, I'd love to command a Nova, or a Sovereign class. The same goes for the Galaxy, Defiant and NX. Then, this is mostly from wanting access to all areas of the ship and being able to look around

I would like to go in, tap some buttons, drive in turbolift up and down for 10 minutes, get computer to say "please rephrase your question" 14 times in a row, test holodeck for 7 minutes and then run off with Delta Flyer before Tuvok says: "captain, I'm detecting a launch in... Curious, must be a glitch in sensor array..."

Chief Engineer on a new cutting edge 25th century starfleet vessel with a brand new transwarp or slipstream drive that could hit about warp 15 max. Slightly slower than the fixed Borg transwarp conduit Voyager took home in Endgame. Just without those solid color uniforms they have shown in alternate future timelines. I like the ones in the new Countdown comics actually.

The Janitor!
No one would ever call on you for any away missions, so you can wear whatever color shirt you want.

I'd like to have either Chakotay or Nelix's job. The first one means you get a close personal relationship with Janeway and the second means you have less responsibility but you're still a key player.

I would like to have Tom Paris' job as professional fly-boy, level 'best of the best'. I would like to pilot both the big ship and the Delta Flyer. Even those flying toilets they used before the Delta Flyer.
