Sat Jul 11, 2009 6:32 am Star trek crossovers? |
|
Would you have liked to see more of the different ST series' characters intermingle? It would have been interesting to see them all in one big war for example against species 8472 or something similar. What do you think would make interesting scenes? Like Picard and Janeway talking strategies, Quark trying to talk Data into a holo-suite, Jadzia instructing Seven on how to be streetwise, etc. Any other ideas you guys would have?

I find the crossovers that have already occurred have done their job to show that Trek isn't isolated to a single ship and a single crew, rather that it encompasses a universe with stuff going on all around that affects everything. For example, we never saw the battle against the Borg at Wolf 359 but years later that's where we first meet Benjamin Sisko in the pilot of DS9. The Maquis were introduced in STNG and because of them we met Voyager's Chakotay. Also an STNG intro, Reginald Barclay makes several appearances in Voyager. Because he is a program, Voyager's Doctor showed up in First Contact. No, I think the few crossovers have done their job well and too many of them would lessen the impact and therefore importance of each series as individual characters go.

You can't honestly say you wouldn't want to see sometimes your favourite characters from the different shows interact. I never said it whould be a regular basis, but maybe a special big movie with a common scenario, for all of them together. And for the hardcore fans there would be an extended version too, like at LOTR.
