Which series to watch first?

Hi there,

We've never watched much Star Trek before, my husband watched it when he was younger, and I've caught a couple of episodes here and there, but we just saw an episode of STV and want to actually start watching it properly. I'm just wondering, would it be ok to start with STV from the beginning, or should we watch the older series first? Thanks!

Voyager was my first series. It doesn't really matter which series you watch first, if you ask me, the oldest series isn't the best one. I went Voyager - Next Generation - DS9, but everyone does it differently.

Mixing them up is fun.... But watching some TOS extensively might ensure you won't get bored by that series when you watch it after watching a lot of VOY, DS9 and TNG.

or, you could watch some ENT, before TNG and DS9. Its a really good serie. Its better then DS9 in my opinion.

i'm watching both, TNG and DS9, simultaneously right now. i started TNG first because it's older (it's what i remember seeing on TV when i was small).

i started TNG before i started DS9 though. so i'm on season 4 of TNG, and only season 2 of DS9.

since i'd never followed Star Trek before it's kinda nice to get some of the background from TNG so i appreciate the characters & references that come up in DS9.

My order was Voyager, then The Next Generation, then The Original Series, then Deep Space Nine, and lastly Enterprise! All great series and I quite enjoyed the mix-up instead of watching them in order...it made me somehow appreciate things a little bit more in the newer series.

It depends, really, the first true amounts of Star Trek I ever watched, were TOS and the first Six movies. It went to TNG, then sporadic episodes of DS9 with many of Voyager. Enterprise was watched last series wise due to it being the most recent.
