just dawned on me.
after 5 years, after Kes threw Voyager 10000 light years closer to the alpha quadrent, and after the enchanted warp drive made voyager 20000 extra light years closer to home , meaning atleast 30,000 light years closer to home, shouldn't they have been at the end season 5 at the Gamma quadrant or Beta quadrant ???
Paradox...

Not really a paradox, but I'm pretty sure that it was mentioned by "Endgame", they were at the Delta-Beta Quadrant border. So they weren't too far from home, but still had a ways to go...

They where put 70,000 lightyears away, would normally take 75 years. So, almost a year per 1000 lightyears. Kes takes 10,000 ly away, slipstream brings them another 10,000 ly closer, transwarp coil brings them another 20,000 ly closer. some small things bring them another 1000 ly's closer(like Q).
That leaves 29,000 ly's too go. Meaning about 32 or 35 years. Which is correct as Admiral Janeway tells them how long it will take if they won't use the transwarp hub. Taken away a ew years of course fro what Harry and Seven did in astrometrics.
beta Quadrant doesn't hold any ways for Voyager to reach Earth sooner either. I believe the Romulans live in the Beta Quadrant, and the borg.

Roms, yes. Borg no. Borg are in the Delta Quadrant((rather heavily documented via Voyager's stint with 7, and the borg queen...

Isn't Earth supposed to be just inside the Alpha Quadrant, right near the border of the Beta Quadrant? The Romulan and Klingon empires are both in the Beta Quadrant as well, I believe. Whether or not Voyager would cross through the Beta Quadrant, or would've been at that point by "Endgame" depends on just exactly where everything is located... geographically, for want of a better word, I don't think they were really looking at an exact map of the Star Trek universe when they decided to randomly alter Voyager's route/distance from home in the storyline. It was just "we're far away from home, in the Delta Quadrant" the entire time.

They have to go through the Beta or Gamma Quadrant(s) to reach Earth. There is a giant sun in the center and they can't go through that. Earth (or the Sol system), as Thomas just pointed out, is directly on the border between the Alpha-Beta Quadrants. So, they do have to go there to reach Earth.
Although as you pointed out, they'd have to cross the Romulan Star Empire to reach Earth. Too bad they never showed that. So close to Earth only to be blocked by Romulans.

something about the quadrants doesn't make sence to me. please somebbody help clarify. if Earth is in the Alpha Quadrant (Point A) and Voyager was in the Delta Quadrant (Point D), and the distance between those two points is 7000 light years, or 75 years, then if the Klingons are in the beta quadrant, it would mean that a journy from earth to Klingon would take about 14 years??
but if you say earth is on the center between the alpha-beta quadrant, i guess that makes sence, right?
maybee i'm reading too much into it...
