Would Star Trek fans play trivia for money?
Cloudcity (UK) Limited are considering the launch of a Star Trek specific trivia site and we arer interested in gauging the interest of such a launch. Would you guys be interested and would you be prepared to play for in-game cash or would you prefer to compete for unique Star Trek prizes having subscribed for $5 a-month. Would you venture into cash play at all or would you only play for free? Just trying to understand the mind of a Star Trek fan so we can offer the best options.
Let me know what you think.

Speaking strictly for myself...I wouldn't pay dollar one when I can come here and play for free.

Agreed. It's free everywhere else on the web. This would be the first time I've heard of having to pay for something like that. And I wouldn't do that. Not to mention that said company may get in sh...er... uhm... FECAL MATTER for charging for something that Paramount could argue was a proprietary thing...

If launched the site would be run in partnership with Paramount and therefore unique prizes would be awarded to the winners. The entry fee would be minimal- as little as $1 or on a subscription basis. E.g $5 per month. I'm aware Star Trek trivia is common place on the web but this tournament would be run in conjunction with the launch of the new movie as an online marketing tool. Therefore prizes would be particulalry appealing and players would attempt to qualify for Grand Finals and the winners would be recognised by the film distributor and their peers alike as the Star Trek trivia master. We launched a similar site for AVP:R and the Star Trek equilavent would no doubt be bigger and better. This is where out trivia would differenciate from other Star Trek trivia.

Regardless, I don't think it would have much appeal. If it's a marketing gimmick, why would Paramount agree to CHARGE for it? What about those Trek fans who are on a low budget, and can't AFFORD an extra 5 bucks a month? I could see alot of people boycotting the movie for making US pay for the marketing gimmick. ((I'd probably be one of them.))
