when Lindsy starts to talk kubali the universal translator dosnt translate but when lindsey's "Father" talks to the crew it does translate any opinions on why

Either it was a different dialect, or the words were more similar to English than the ones she used earlier, or it was just a glitch in the script

Or the writers were expecting people not to pay attention to this detail. There is also a possibility that the translator needed time to calibrate itself to the knew language.
