Sat Mar 01, 2008 12:44 pm When did this place get so dead? |
|
I used to post here quite a bit. Not so much recently, for whatever reason.
Looking at the "latest post" dates on the main page, only a handful of forums have had posts in the last week?!
What happened to this place?

I've seen so many topics talking about how "dead" this place is.
I'm not sure what happened. I know that the myriad of "down times" the site had hurt it. But other then that, I think it's the fact that right now Trek is kind of dead...

Trek is pretty much dead that is why.
No fault of this site.
I have witnessed trek go from a geeky thing that only geeks talk about, to something that was much more widely accepted (VOY & ENT era), then was something that was actually considered cool for a time, to only talked about by still the die hard fans, to now dead.

Good point, maybe there'll be a resurgence in this site when the new-old Trek movie comes out.

Yeah, it's too bad. I guess because of the lack in activity in Star Trek movies or series.. Though I still like this place, apparently people don't wanna talk trek as much as they used to?

I know other people have said this before, but we really should expand and create some other sci-fi related rooms and a sports section. That would help keep some people around and attract others. I'd really like to discuss Stargate more. I'm currently watching the series from start to finish.

That idea was tossed around and rejected due to the sites name.
IMO, though, that was premature. We are a base Trek site, yes, but CC, WN, TIM, etc... are clearly the more active parts of the forum right now.
I don't think it'd hurt us at all to branch out.

There are 5 people here now, just had 7. (one is hidden, and one is afk), and only 2-3 are posting. Maybe that has something to do with the slowness of the site? Being a little pro-active never hurt anyone.

I don't know why I even bother being hidden. I think I'm the only one who does it, so it's fairly good bet that it's me.

Well, I used to be on as hidden, but thats from the days that I would make an RPG and people would actually join.
The reason for that being I didn't want them to send me PMs

Why, I oughta... *erm*
I should point out that I was a user a full YEAR before the slowdown really picked up. I personally blame it all on M never being online. And now I blame 218 as well. Just cause I can.
