Tue May 22, 2007 9:44 pm Question for younger (or all) members... |
|
Hey all, I'm going to be teaching film studies to middle schoolers in New York this summer and in order to get "on their level," I was wondering what sort of movies kids that age are watching these days.
So if you're a middle schooler or age 10-14 or if you remember being that age or know anyone that age, I'd like to ask please if you could tell me your favorite movie. This'd be really helpful.

I'm 20 but my sister is 13. She and her friends are all really into anime, but I don't know if everyone that age is into that stuff. She says her favorite movie is 'Inuyasha' (not sure if thats how to spell it).

I remember very distinctly that my favorite movie was Star Wars. But when you would ask me, the exact episode would vary. Usually it was episode one. As I'm yet 17, this was fairly recent.

I seem to remember being into Star Wars, but Harry Potter would probably be a safe bet now. You could always ask them on the first day, tell them what you were thinking of then see what they think.
I'm not 13 anymore, but I think 19 is close enough to have vauge memories

Right, I had also hoped Star Wars and Harry Potter would be big hits. I'm going to open up trhe first day with introductions like "say your name, and your favorite movie and why..." and I want to know each movie they say because I'll also be a camp counselor when I'm not teaching, so I won't have a chance to see any movies beyond that point.

I have not clue, I had never heard of it. I just asked her what she liked. She said she likes pirates of the caribean and harry potter.

I enjoy Mean Girls. It was very funny, but it also had a true and compelling message for adolescents.
I'm 17 now, but my tastes haven't really changed since I was 14 or so. I was a rather odd 14-year-old, of course, so there you go. You might have a better chance asking this of people who are more normal than teenage Trekkies :p

When I was that age, I was big on Star Wars actually. But now-a-days I think it's things like Harry Potter and Shrek, maybe Star Wars since the prequels were sort of around that time.
But yea, anime is big for that age group too
