Records unearthed in Ireland reveal that Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama can trace his ancestry back to a shoemaker in a small Irish village, according to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times.

Obama's campaign had no comment Thursday about the report, but Chicago Alderman Ed Burke told the newspaper he wasn't surprised.

I only bring this up because I find it rather unhappy that the nationalities of presidential candidates is at all news. Why would anyone bother to find this out?

				| Yeah, I have to wonder what the big deal is. I suppose it's interesting, but I see no point where this makes a differnce in the campaign.

				| People want to know everything and anything about a candidate - no matter how irrelivant it may be. I find it silly - but I'm also amazed by the small things that'll tip a voter one way or another.

				| It's an interesting piece of trivia, but I don't think that it is worth an entire news article. So the black guy has Irish ancestry. Yes. Woohoo.
But of course, we all know who is to blame, right? The terrorists. Yes, that's correct: terrorists are responsible for this. Why? Well it's simple. Terrorism sells even more than presidential candidate heritage stories do. If the terrorists had been considerate enough to bomb something or kill people today, enough so that it made a good story, then we would not have been subjected to such a mundane article about Obama's roots. Once again, terrorism has mocked and demeaned the free and democratic process of journalism! We cannot stand for this.

Here here! Maybe they can bomb something useful though? Like the Chinese laundry that ripped three of my shirts, overcharged me 40 bucks, and left starch and bleach stains in the remainder of my clothes?
