WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Senate voted overwhelmingly Thursday to boost the federal minimum wage by $2.10 to $7.25 an hour over two years, but packaged the increase with controversial tax cuts for small businesses and higher taxes for many $1 million-plus executives.

				| I'm glad they included the tax breaks, a necessity for any federal wage increase, but I don't like it. The federal government minimum wage shouldn't be increased. State government wage increases, however, are okay to be increased, IMO, and it is happening. For instance, Colorado approved a (rather stupid, honestly) constitutional amendment increasing the wage consistently, showing that the states can do it themselves.

				| Ontario just raised minimum wage to $8/h, and there are rumblings of trying to get it to $10/h one of these days.
Keep in mind though that with the exchange rate that's only about $6.79 USD per hour.

				| $6.79 USD for $8, or 10? Was anything said about minimum wage for Servers?
In SC, the minium for them is 2.13/hour ( provided tips = min wage)

And what exactly will this do for our economy?
