Security Council Approves Resolution Imposing Sanctions Against Iran For Uranium Enrichment

UNITED NATIONS The U.N. Security Council unanimously agreed Saturday to impose sanctions against Iran for refusing to suspend uranium enrichment, culminating two months of negotiations to curb a nuclear program the United States claims is aimed at building weapons.

Well it's about time! Let's just see if things turn out better with these sanctions than the Iraq ones did. (Let's not get into a debate over Iraq now, though.)

I heard this, and thought, "so what?" I mean, we all know what a stellar record the UN has in follow through.

Yeah, I know. I'm just glad they at least took this step. Now it's up to them to enforce it, and, as you implied, their record on enforcement is horrendous. Just look at Iraq, for instance. I hope there's some chance that this'll do something, though I, too, doubt it.
