The Story
2382, the United Federation of Planets has ended a war lead by a former Starfleet Officer, by the name of Sit Fito. The war engulfed the entire Quadrant, spreading across several sectors with many systems falling to the crule fist of the Nautolian Empire.

Several months before the end of the war, the U.S.S. Horizon NCC-80062 completed construction. The crew was assigned to the combined task force that would enter Hydran space, in the so called 'Operation Methane'. The cost was massive, many ships were destroyed, with thousands of Starfleet Officers killed. Victory was short lived, as word came in that Earth was being invaded by the Nautolians. The fleet moved for the planet, with the Horizon among them. The Horizon was one of few Starfleet vessels not to be severly damaged in Operation Methane, and was able to participate in the battle of Earth.

The war was over, losses were massive, but there was still several questions that needed answering, such as why did the Dominion get involved, and is there any threat to the Federation? With this, and many other contributing factors, it was decided that a Deep Space Mission was needed, speficially, in the Gamma Quadrant, as the soldiers that were in the Alpha Quadrant were not answering any questions to Starfleets liking.

The U.S.S. Horizon NCC-80062 was chosen for this mission, several reasons for this included the vessels power, as a Sovereiegn class Starship. This was to warn any potential threat of the resitance they could meet should they attack the Federation, and to make sure that exploration vessels do not get sent into harms way. The Horizon, a Heavy Cruiser, would send a message a small ship like a Scout, could not.

U.S.S. Horizon Important Locations
Warp Nacelle

The Nacelles of the Horizon, like any other Starship in Starfleet is what propelles the vessel into warp speeds. There are multiple pairs of warp coils, and the latests advances in Engineering has allowed the vessel to travel at warp speeds with out damaging the fabric of subspace.

Main Bridge

Located on deck one, the Main Bridge is the core center of operations for the Horizon. The Bridge is responsible for mission operations, and departmental operations. The Bridge is the location of the Senior Staff positions, and can access any critical system on the ship, ranging from engineering, to science, medical, and tactical/security. There are several ways to access the bridge, the core access and use being the two turbolifts.

Captain's Ready Room

The Captain's Ready Room is also located on deck one, at the starboard side. The room can double as a work space, or a second cabin, should there be a situation where the Captain may be urgently needed on the bridge. In this room, the Captain can rest, or do any sort of work that needed to be done. The Captain, or Commanding Officer could also hold meetings with one or two other indivisuals in this room.

Observation Lounge

Located in the rear of deck one, the Observation Lounge is used for various reasons such as Senior Staff meetings, and any sort of a special gatherings taking place on the ship.
