Unfortunate. Though the move will likely be viewed as a positive toward the GOP, i'm sad to see a good man and a great leader step down. Rumsfeld has long been one of my favorite people in the Administration.

One thing this does though, it shifts the focus back to Bush and not to the Republican loss in Congress.
I am very much looking forward to what's going to happen in the next few months

Same here, for the most part. I've always liked Rumsfeld and I'm sad to see him go. This should've been done before the election, though, but I can see why it would happen today: to get the Dem win off the headlines.

I doubt it was for that reason.

Yeah, I doubt that was the reason to. Maybe he was just sick of all the BS or something, I don't know. We prolly wont unless he states a reason.

Well, maybe not the reason, but I do think it was most certainly a component. So does my AP Gov teacher, not that that matters.

Maybe...but it could not be the reason for it. I hardly doubt a man would trash his career simply to get a differnt headlines on the paper. I'll admit, it is weird, today of all days, right after a Dem winning election he steps down, but meh.

What's today's main story? It's Rumsfeld, not the elections. That makes it ever-so obvious. I think he was going to leave at some point, but I definitely think today was strategically done.
