PostThu Dec 28, 2006 5:16 pm    The Prophets and Bajor?

You know, I was recently watching an episode of DS9 and I was curious about something. Why do the Prophets care about Bajor? I never understood that. I looked at Memory Alpha and they made no explanation for it. I'm assuming the show never did either, so any answer would be an opinion. Does anyone know why the Prophets care about Bajor so much? Why did they have to ensure the birth of their Emissary to save it? Why did they wipe out the Dominion fleet to protect it? I don't get it. In many episodes, they seem to not care about "corporeal matters". Yet, they sure do seem to care about Bajor by sending their orbs to them and emissaries.

It doesn't seem like they're doing it out of guilt like the Caretaker and the Ocampa. If the Prophets hurt Bajor, they seem like the type to not care or at least not understand what they did. So I don't think it's out of some debt.

The only guess I can make is that the Pah-Wraiths and Prophets chose a battlefield for their "epic" struggle and Bajor was chosen to be the site of it....

Well, it's simple. The Prophets were looking through all of the species in the galaxy and saw the Bajorans. Now, as we all know, the Bajorans are the best, so, the Prophet, sensing their greatness and complete awesomness chose the Bajorans.

Those Prophets sure now how to choose 'em.

I forgot about this topic.

Yeah, I watched the episode where it's revealed the Prophet's ensure Sisko's birth. I still don't get it. They never explain why the Prophets are obsessed with Bajor. It's a shame they never explain that.
