I think the next Trek should be a return to the 23rd century, maybe @ SFA or a starbase or starship. I love the ST Vangurad books set in the OS era but fairly Kirk-less

No...

No more going back into the past. Why don't people get this? Prequals fail. While TOS wouldn't necessarily be a prequal, but we don't want anything out of the TNG, DS9, VOY era. We want those stories continued. For over a decade, we've been in that era.

Not to mention, this topic belongs in FUTURE Star Trek section.

Maybe not the past, but the future. A few years past the TNG/DS9/VOY. We've had three series, and four movies in that Era . I wouldn't mind a series in 2400, that could be interesting.

I'd very much like to see a movie set in the Enterprise C era. We never hear about that time, even though they had loads of events like Cardassians, Romulans and Klingons.

I don't think its prequels that fail, if they are done well they will succeed. But the only evidence we have is Enterprise, which wasn't done well and that's why it failed.

It did however get 15 million for its premiere, so people did tune in and then tuned out cause it wasn't that good.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If anything, we need at least ONE more movie in the TNG/DS9/VOY era. Why? Because, simply put, too many things were never finished.

What happened to the crew of VOY?

What's up with the Sisko?

What is the Federation like after the Dominion War?

Those questions need to be answered before we can move on.

And, yes, I am wholly against prequels. The subject of the missing era intrigues me, however, I don't want to see any productions about it. Star Trek needs to keep looking to the future. Look what going back to the past has done them.

I couldn't agree more that we need to go forward in time.

That's the problem. They don't do it well. No one does. No one seems to care enough to go back and do research. So they rewrite history.

As for ENT's premiere...people didn't know what to expect. All the knew was it was a Star Trek show. That's it. That is why they tuned in. Viewers dropped like flies as time went on.

I don't want to see something with chars we love recast, thats stupid and frankly, it turns be off no matter what movie or series it is.

Like Andy said, no one seems to want to do any research, and besides the fact it's sad because they would get paid for it, in this day in age, all it takes is a simple internet search.

I'm on board with the anti-prequel gang. With the direction of the new movie, it's like they're trying to kill trek. Another series set in the "past" would be the worst choice they could make.

Yeah, I've been doing some reading on IMDB, apparently, to do something like a DS9 movie wouldnt work because it's not as popular, and has to much back story

they have a good reasoning, try to lure in to fans, HOWEVER, they are concentraiting on new fans to much, and ignoring the fanbase they already have.

I'm not "againts" a prequel, but for god's sake, do some freaking research.

No you see, I'm okay with this new movie...I am AGAINST prequels...but you wanna know how I see it? If J.J. Abrams did SUCH great job at bringing Mission Impossible back, and he comes in at Trek's hour of need, and he SCREWS it up, his directing career gets washed...Oh, he'll still be around, but it's like, "Oh he did GREAT with M.I. 3, but when Trek needed him the most, he SCREWED up..."

Haha...personally I think it's funny..just watch, you'll see...Now, I'm NOT saying he's gonna screw up, but at the same time, I wouldn't mind watchin him screw up...Because 1, he just trashed part of his career, and 2, it'll show Trek how stupid they are for allowing another prequel...

I don't mind the prequel part per se, what I mind is that it's clear that they will not be doing any research if any much beyond TOS. He has admited that he has not seen much of TNG, any of DS9 or Voy, or ENT. You can't get incolved with Star Trek and not watch any of it, that's where the other producers messed up.
