Spacedock was originally designed to assist in Starfleet's operations in the Sol sector of space in the 23rd century. The idea originated during the conflicts with the Klingon Empire. In 2259, the design of the station was authorized and would take several years for the design to be completed due to constant changes to the design. The facility was the most complex and largest production project ever devised by Starfleet. The first spacedock was completed in 2276 in Earth orbit. Spacedock was to be a multi-pupose facility serving in the role of forward base, industrial center, operations hub, shipyard and research facility. Before spacedock was constructed, starships were produced separately on single ship orbital platform facilities for the construction and maintenance of its starships. The internal docking bays protected the work crews from the hazards of space such as radiation and debris. While having a centralized center meant materials and components were manufactured at the same place that increased production efficiency. Tactically, open fleetyards were more vulnerable to enemy attack than a large spacedock. It also serves as an administration center for Starfleet Command and were an ideal place for first contact with nonaligned worlds.

Each spacedock facility was a small city in space and can support up to eight Galaxy Class vessels and up to twenty four smaller vessels. By the 24th century two of the docking bays were enlarged to support larger vessels such as the Galaxy Class. Giant sensor towers and the forest of antennae at the bottom and top of Spacedock allow her to scan several light yeatrs around the area of the station. At the same time, these starbases were not only a Starfleet base but a civilian starbase one as well. Each spacedock facility welcomed merchants and businessmen. As a result, they were a place of trade and commerce for a variety of different alien species. While for other civilians there were also welcomed with living quarters, retail and office space available. Many of the civilians are family members of Starfleet personnel stationed at the base. Starbases also contained the most advance medical and scientific facilites that are unmatched even in the most modern starship.

With the expansion of the Federation in the 24th century and the success of the original spacedock Starfleet decided to produce a limited number of spacedock type starbases in key sectors. These bases would perform the same tasks that the oringinal spacedock had done for Earth in the 23rd century. Due to their size a limited number was produced due to the long construction time however the end result was one that was well worth the effort. The spacedock design was enlarged to take into account exisitng and future starship designs. As a result, starbases produced in the early 24th century was capable of supporting several Galaxy Class starships with ease.

In recent years, spacedocks have received upgrades to their defensive systems with the installation of the new phaser type X+ arrays and the use of the new mark VI photon torpedoes. Other changes included the replacement of the M-10 Duotronic IV Computer processor to the M15A Bio-Neural Gelpack Isolinear II-a computer processor. Holodecks, advanced medical facilties and industrial replicators have been introduced in recent years as well. With the arrival of the Dominion and Borg threats these starbases provided protection and security to key Federation sectors. At the same time the shipyards in each spacedock was increased to 105% to meet the ship demands of the war effort. With the end of the war with the Dominion these starbases will form the backbone of the Federation's production and maintenance facilitates for several decades to come. With an ever expanding Federation it is expected that more of these spacedocks will be produced.

Operations Center

The Operations Center, AKA OPS, is the command and control center of the station. It is the equivalent of a bridge on a starship. It has more of a circular construction rather than the boxed in structure of a starship bridge. There is a large console at the center of it. This is the "main console" where the Chief Operations officer oversees vital station systems and docking procedures/schedules. OPS has a station for various portions of the station. For example, the Chief Engineer can go into a "pit-area" and work on Engineering duties from there. A replicator is located at the "upper" level. A transporter pad is located there for quick or emergency transport. Two trubolifts are located parallel from each other. The Captain's office can be accessed from OPS. A large viewscreen hangs high in the room for communications. There is one holocommunicatior set up in the corner of OPS. OPS has the ability to be sealed off from the rest of the station but only access codes from senior staff will allow that. It is located on deck 12.

Captain's Office/Ready Room:

This is the captain's private office reserved for solely him/her. Here is where the captain can work on reports, administrative work, or simply relax in. The captain can meet with anyone in there for private discussions. They can also recieve private/classified communications. A small computer is located there. Captain's often find themselves here for personal thought.

Plaque:

Deep Space Guardian's plaque. Created with the first station. Found amidst the debris of the station and the Captain considered it a good omen and kept it for his rebuilt station. It hangs inside of the Captain's office.

Observation Lounge

The observation lounge is a conference room for the crew. The main use of this room is for the senior staff to meet and discuss. Sometimes it is used for diplomatic purposes and ceremonies. The room stretches in an elongated shape and a large table sits at the center of it. The captain sits at the head of the table and right behind him is a computer console. There are several viewports composed of transparent aluminum. Each seat has a small computer. There is no set seating arrangement. There is usually a trophy case of ships or stations.

Promenade

This is the "life" of Deep Space Guardian. There are many levels to the Promenade. Shops, restuarants, bars, and many other places are spread out across the promenade. It is usually filled with off-duty Starfleet officers, merchants, civilians, and people just passing by. Sometimes the Promenade is so large that evades security and marine patrols. Which allows for...more...seedy activty to commence.

Ferenginar's Will

This bar is run by barkeep/non-com security officer Rav. The Ferengi fled to the station to escape Grand Nagus' Rom's new reforms. He set up a bar, but wanted to be more than a bar owner. He became a non-com in Starfleet for...devious reasons. The bar has a Dom-Jot and Dabo table. There are also two holodecks in the upstairs area. Rav's bar is the only one to have the unique program called "Kung Fu" with an interactive hologram.

Kung Fu 01:

This program was created by a holoprogram creator named Clarence. The man was brilliant with programs, but prefered building ones that had interactive programs that could adapt and learn, rather then mindless holograms. While it may seem that it is only martial arts, there is more to the program. Here, your spirit and mind are tested as well. The hologram inside of the program has no name, but uses the name of his creator.

Clarence Hologram

Star's End

This is a more upscale restaurant owned by Nicodemus Errol Thiandrus. A Terra Novan that came from a wealthy family. It's menus boast dishes from the Alpha and Beta quadrants. While it is small, it does have a very calm and quiet setting. It is ideal for dates, quiet dinners, and relaxation with a drink.

Replimat

There are dozens of replimats spread all over the promenade. This is a place with a few tables and several replicators. If you want a quick bite before going back to duty, the replimat is where you should go. Most officers that are on break will usually eat here. Ian Xavier, shared his first meal with his chief of security, Blake Robitaille, at a replimat.

Security Office

The security office is the main office for the Chief of Security. All reports of any misdeeds onboard the station are brought here. Complaints about station personel and civilians are also brought here. Prisoners are locked away in the Brig, which can be accessed through this room. Top ranking security officers also meet in this room with the Chief of Security on how to deal with problems. There is a monitor behind the desk and allows the Chief of Security to view any deck and room onboard the station.

Additional:

Phaser:

Compression Rifle:

Enhanced Compression Rifle:

Assault Rifle:

Sniper Rifle:

Grenade Launcher:

Quantum Burst:

Photon Grenade:

Stun Grenade:

Force Shield:

Additional Rooms:

Brig

The brig is where trouble makers of the station are kept. Depending on the severity of the crime, they are kept there for a certain amount of time. The holding cells adaptable to class D, H, L, M, N, P environments. Security devices are all over this room. There is one desk for a security officer to sit and watch over the prisoners.

These holding cells are if there is a surplus of prisoners and no more room in the other cells.

These holding cell are for special prisoners. Political, powerful, or other.

Main Engineering

Main engineering is massive and has several decks dedicated to it. Instead of a warp core, a massive reactor is built in the center.
