Well here we go...

Name: Mark Bladt
Age: 30
Location: Denmark
Job: Unemployed

I watch a lot of movies and enjoy most star trek except Enterprise and the last seasons of Voyager when they turned the Borg into incompetent weaklings.

Play some RPG and currently run a D.S.9 type campaign called "Building the Future"

I used to be a member of another Star Trek forum. It was really good but had to close due to a lack of time and money. Can't remember it's name anymore though.

Well this forum looks great and I am looking forward to spending time in here when I have to escape reality...

Hi David

I think Voyager had great potential but the producers made a couple of mistakes.

1. THE BORG
Before Voyager The Borg was this undefeatable enemy. The nemesis of Captain Picard and the most dangerous enemy the Federation had ever faced along with the Dominion.
In Voyager however they were reduced to mid level enemies, that you never doubted that Voyager would beat the c**p out of.

I think that what happened is this: The producers wanted to make the show more actionpacked (perhaps because of D.S.9 and then came up with the idea of having Voyager meet the Borg) but they then made the mistake (in my oppinion) of having Voyager fly through Borg Space instead of having her fly along the edge of Borg Space and occationally meet the Borg.

Then they introduce 7 of 9, a character I never understood why they needed (except for the obvious physical advantages ). I know that every Star Trek show has the misfit/strange character (Spock,Data & Odo) but Voyager already had the great Robert Picardo as well as Timothy Darrell Russ.

2. THE SHIP ITSELF
Voyager was way to powerful for a ship of her size & type.

Voyager also had the most human character ever featured in Star Trek THOMAS EUGENE PARIS (aka. Nick Locarno ). Tom Paris made mistakes, acted human and generally often felt like a misfit (something that Robert Duncan McNeill did an amazing job at conveying). His friendship with Harry Kim and Mentorrole to Harry Kim was really one of the highlights of Voyager and the plot about Paris acting like a rebel (in agreement with Janeway) was a really nice part of Voyager and I never knew it was a plot by him and Janeway to find out who the traitor was.

Seska was a good and vicious villain and we had never really experienced any other female villains besides Sela as far as I can recall.

Voyager generally had good acting and the chemestry among the cast was really good it seems but I've always felt that Voyager was marked by poor planing and that it was the fourth show in about 10-12 years of constant Star Trek, witch finally ended with the cancelation of Enterprise.

well to me vayager was a slingback to tos.. Janway was a spinoff of Kirk... I'd've done more with USS Voyagers layout.

The Borg where badly designed.
