Personally, I go fully with ythe Maquis, if you wonder why, see my other topic 'Would you care if Sisko got killed?'
And, I know that the Maquis aren't all like the ones on Voyager, fully aware.

The marquis are totally acceptable to me, just not the more extreme ones.

They where a interesting idea and gave DS9 quite some light in well..sort of a boring period in DS9 airing.

I quite liked the ships
It was possible to like them in early TNG when you were made to feel sorry for the cause but slowly they changed. In the latter seasons of DS9 before they were stopped, they seemed to be killing Cardassians left, right and centre.

I love the Maquis raiders! They rule! Just as much as Voyager anyway!

^I'm not too fond of them myself. Just thinking about the fact that the Maquis were part of the honorable and noble Federation and then just throw those rules out the window to go kill some Cardassians...
It just doesn't seem right.

I like the Maquis and if it was real I think I would have supported them in stopping themselves being driven out of the 'Zone, but not when they started attacking the Cardassians anywhere basically.

I liked that they were fighting more for what tey believed instead of just following rules but they could be irrational at thimes.

I like the Maquis because of Chakotay and plus Starfleet would not help them. They too busy want to catch them than to help.

The Maquis had a cause for defending there own homes, when the the Cardassians tried to take it away. It's different when they went into the Cardassians' territory to take there's.
The DMZ was meant to prevent this.

I think it's interesting that the Maquis were made just for Voyager.

Hello, fellow Michiganian!
Anyways...The Maquis weren't made just for Voyager. In fact, despite the fact that the Maquis was an important (and rarely used) plot device for Voyager, the Maquis were barely used; a huge disappointment and one of the reasons I dislike Voyager (among other things...).
The Maquis were introduced in the Deep Space Nine two-parter, titled, what else, The Maquis (Season II). The Maquis were used several times in The Next Generation (most notably, Preemptive Strike) and several more times in DS9 (For the Cause, For the Uniform, Blaze of Glory, etc.).
Well...There is a Maquis history lesson for you...

- I do realize that. On one of Voyager's bonus material archives - I do believe it was for Season 1. TPTB talk about the creation of Voyager and it's characters...finally they came up with the idea of the Maquis, and this ship stranded very far from home. They decided that since it was hard to create a backstory for these characters so very far at home, that they would do it before the series started in TNG and DS9.
And also..."Journey's End" - was part of the backstory for Chakotay's character.
