The Story

It is 2380; roughly two years after Admiral Janeway infected the Borg collective with a neurolytic pathogen, which started to spread though out the collective, damaging everything in its wake. The then current Queen's last act was to initiate a destruct order, in an attempt to quarantine the neurolytic pathogen. Initially, the destruct order did not work, the neurolytic pathogen continued to spread, however, another Queen was quickly produced, and she initiated several more destruct orders, which in turn successfully quarantined the neurolytic pathogen and its path of destruction throughout the collective, however the Borg had still taken a severe blow. It would take several years to rebuild to the point where the collective could be at where they were prior to the neurolytic pathogen. That is of course, if there was no resistance, which there most likely would be, as it seems everyone resists.

Now, during their state of recovery, the Borg began experimentation with organics they found on a planet recently assimilated, seeing what if any kind of usable properties the compound could have. This compound was given the designation 'Organic Compound 0-0-Alpha-5-Ceti'. In one of the experiments, something went wrong, and the organic compound combined with several Borg nanoprobes, and other technology, creating a new life form, one far more dangerous then the Borg.

This new life form, with a combination of the organic compound, and Borg technology, designates it self as 'Overseer'. Overseer began to infect (Or to an ironic twist, assimilate) the Drones on the Cube, which was done within a matter of minutes.

This resulted then all the drones becoming new life forms, much similar to the Overseer. While the new life form used the drones bodies, and technological distinctiveness, the new life forms were much, much more organic. One of the many changes also resulted in an individual, able to withstand injuries in combat longer then a Borg that had not yet adapted could, which meant far less casualties for Overseers forces.

Shortly afterwards, Overseer began to attack other Borg vessels in the area, gathering more recourses, and ships into its armada. Soon, Overseer controlled hundreds of Borg ships and stations, the next targets were the planets that were within its grasp.

Within months, Overseers forces have managed to take control of thousands of ships, stations, and planets. Trillions of people of various species were infected (Or assimilated, depending on ones view). Overseer, in its quest for perfection, and control of what ever it could access, began to expand outwards, its forces not always having to travel far due to the constant additions to the armadas that were used in the invasions. The forces of Overseer soon began to reach other Quadrants, most noticeably, the Alpha, and Beta Quadrants.

The Federation fought the Overseer with everything they had but fell within months. As before, not all life was consumed, or infected. Some were kept on the planets as a slave labor force, living under the harshest conditions. People were also shifted around, on the planets, filling the gaps as needed, making each planet much, much more diverse then before.

Naturally, rebellion ensued on the worlds, only to be crushed each time, somehow always being discovered before doing enough damage. While the resistance became smarter in hiding, and in their attacks, no real victory was ever won due to the Slurgs (As so named by the people of Earth, ability to withstand damage in combat before actually falling, if they had not found a way to adapt to the methods of combat. This continued for centuries. It would be 2798 before a significant blow could be dealt to drive the Slurgs away from Earth. Stealing what they could, small crafts would be made to defend the entire system from the Slurgs. Exploration of the system found other planets, under similar conditions, which included Mars and Pluto, along with a gas giant, Jupiter. Pluto was the most unique, as it had what appeared to be a massive data storage facility. Unfortunately, it appeared that some sort of purging had occurred, and while there was some left, it was badly corroded.

After making contact with surrounding systems and worlds that have also been freed, an Alliance was formed with the common goal of defending against the Slurgs. Many people also worked together to study the Data that was found on Pluto, working together, many new technologies were constructed, including a newer starship, a much larger one, one that would explore the new territories, and help defend the Alliance and other free worlds

The Communicator was designed after attempting to read severely corroded Data on the technology. Several different attempts were made to read the data, with no avail other then some schematics. This is a product of combined talents. The Communicator is worn on the left or right wrist (Depending on the user being right or left handed)

Hand Phasers
The Hand Phasers of Discovery were created from a combination of corroded Data, and people working together. The Phaser has eight different settings.

Sa'Val, growing up on earth in a non Vulcan environment never learned suppression of her emotions. She knew few other vulcans, who all knew little if not nothing of their heritage. She did learn how to mind meld, and how to use a nerve pinch if need be. In 2776, when Sa'Val was 16, a rebellion cell attacked the camp she was in, freeing several slaves, including her. This group however, was one of little to no Morals, and were not a "true" rebellion. They basically took the slaves, and made them slaves for them. Sa'Val was taken as a "comfort" to the males. After several months of this Sa'Val had ceased to care of anything, only wanting death. In 2795 a stronger rebellion was starting to take hold. They attacked the underground settlement Sa'Val was being kept in and freed her. Realizing the truth of the real rebellion, Sa'Val joined them, raising though the ranks as she attacked the invaders. Season I: Episode I: A New Beginning

San Francisco, Earth. September 01, 2806

The night sky of the cool September night was quiet, save for the occasional shuttle, or small craft that flew past, for filling various duties, whether its a simple travel to another location, or going to space, or from space back to the planet. The planet seemed dirty, it looked it. This is because the Slurgs cared little, if at all for beauty, they only cared about their forces. There was little plant life left, enough to have sustained the slave labor force, but not much more, what buildings there were, were old, and looked ready to fall apart, which were slowly being replaced by newer buildings, but that was a massive project that took a very long time.

It was near Eight PM at night, in her apartment, the Vulcan Captain, that went by the name of SaVal was looking over some paperwork, reading over the final details of things before the launch of the ship in a couple days. The entire crew had been selected, and even had gathered, although only some were on the ship already. The ship, SaVal couldnt believe that this was all happening, it really was. Why she was chosen for the command, she still was never really quiet sure of. The ship was special; the top speed was warp 8, compared to the other ships in service, which was warp 5, or 6.

The ship would head for deep space, a thought that sent a chill down SaVals spine. It was made from studying the data found on Pluto, and working closely with several minds between the free worlds of the Alliance. SaVal sighed and stood and moved to the window. There was a soft music playing in the background, something SaVal found soothing, it helped calm her nerves. SaVal looked out the window and up to the stars in the sky, thinking about how soon, shed be traveling to some of those stars, and not just gazing at them. It wasnt leaving the system that made her wonder; she had done that before, when she visited the planet Vulcan. It was leaving the known boundaries of space presently, going past the Alliance held territory, and most likely, running into Slurgs. Other dangers also had to be out there, but just what was it? SaVal picked up a small device, and taped a button which ended the music. She sighed again and moved over to the table in front of the couch, and tapped another control.

Captains Starlog: September 01, 2806. This will most likely be the last log entry I make before I take on my responsibilities on the Discovery. I feel apprehensive, unsure as to why I was chosen for this assignment, surly there are others that are better then me?

No matter, to the point, I have met with all the crew on the ship, yesterday, at Command Headquarters; I met with the crew in a meeting, to go over the ships assignment. Everyone has been made aware that it may be some time before we can come home.

SaVal moved though the apartment, crossing into the room from the living area, to the kitchen. SaVal opened the door to a cupboard and removed a tea kettle, and went for the faucet.

I have seen that despite that, the crew seem eager to get out there. Explore what we once knew of, but lost.

Filling the kettle, SaVal then set it on a burner and activated it. She studied it for a moment, then went back into the living area, and laid her eyes onto the pile of equipment and paperwork that she was studying moments ago.

Going out there where we havent seen before, rather, not seen for centuriesitsinteresting, yet disturbing. What if we do not like what we find? What if there is nothing to find, or if there is what ifwhat if we find more dangers?

SaVal sat down on the couch and looked down to a screen; on it was a face of one of her new officers her new first officer to be exact, Alicia Kirian Lee a Human, a species that was originally native to this planet. She studied the image before continuing.

I have to wonderhow will I deal with things? While I cannot use my past as an excuse for anything what so ever, it has left mevulnerable to trust. I find it very difficult to trust anyone.

SaVal continued to study the information. Alicia was a formidable officer, more then capable of doing this mission. Her service record was impressive, having served Starfleet every since it was founded. Rather, re-incorporated.

Perhaps that should change

SaVal had made a decision. She pressed the control which ended the recording she was making and stood. She grabbed her jacket and moved towards the kitchen as she placed it on, removing the kettle from the burner, and deactivating it. SaVal moved towards the door, stopping at a stand and picking up a hand phaser, and checking the settings, making sure it was on a low stun. She sighed as she placed it under her jacket, hating to even have to carry it. However, it was a necessity, both due to her past experiences, and the fact that crime was indeed, rather rampant in the City, particularly at night. SaVal opened her door and took a look back into the room. She sighed once more then went though it, closing it, and locking it. SaVal descended the stairs towards the first floor using the stairs to get some exercise she reached the lobby and headed for the door when she heard a sound. She looked back and saw that a young child, perhaps two or three, was stumbling around an area, there was another female close by, apparently the mother. The adult woman was smiling at the small child, watching it walk around. SaVal turned back towards the main entrance and moved though the doors into the night air. Her destination: the home of Alicia Kirian Lee.

SaVal walked carefully down the sidewalk, holding her arms close to her body. She looked down to the ground, but was looking up just enough to see where it was she was walking. She glanced around carefully, taking in her surroundings and ensuring that no one or nothing was going to sneak up on her. Crime was rampant in the city, particularly, when one thing a small and weak defenseless woman is going down the street.

SaVal was still unsure about the mission; she wasnt the only one, several officers, and crew voiced concerns, something SaVal had to coax out of them. She told them, if they cannot trust each other to speak amongst themselves as such, then how could anything get done?

SaVal recalled the conversation she had with her friend, a Civilian, the ships chef, Beral Thompson. Beral was a Klingon/Romulan hybrid. She found the young woman quite interesting and stronger then she let herself believe. While only being 20 years old, Beral was more then capable of going on the mission, and was quite apt at food preparation, which is odd. While not totally Klingon, from SaVals experience, anyone with Klingon blood tended to be violent, and wanted to fight.

II dont know, SaVal. I dont know if I can do this.

SaVal turned to face Beral, the young womans face was flawless, the ridges smoothly into her face. Her eyebrows arched in a Romulan way, similar to a Vulcan way, along with pointed ears. Her skin was darker then a Vulcan or Romulan, more matching a Klingons, however, she had obvious Romulan features to her skin also.

Whats wrong? I mean, whats bothering you?

Beral shifted, unsure how to answer her friend, she didnt want to hurt any feelings. SaVal had rescued Beral from slavery before the Slurgs had completely left the system.

Well, II mean, Beral paused; she looked to SaVal for reassurance and continued, I just dont know if I canbe of asset.

SaVal frowned slightly then reached out and touched Berals arm.

Beral, she started, smiling slightly to re assure her, I know you will be an asset, more then just a chef. You are a wonderful person, and fully capable of doing anything you put your mind to. After all, it was you that took care of the master in the end, not anyone else.

Beral smiled, her face turning a blush of red. She looked down and fumbled with her hands slightly. She cleared her throat and looked to SaVal.

You could always make me feel better

SaVal nodded and smiled as she looked at her friend,

SaVal smirked slightly at the memory as she continued down the street. Turning a corner, she checked her surroundings as she continued on, confident no one was going to sneak up behind her. She sighed and cursed her self for her own paranoia, she felt it was getting out of hand, despite her last few years as a servant to what was supposedly friends, others like her, she felt that it was getting to her to much now eight years later. Carrying the phaser around for instance, that wasnt just protection from the criminals on the street was it? No, it was something that made her feel better; it was protection from any sort of harm that could come to her.

SaVal pulled her jacket closer to her body as a breeze moved though, not that it made her cold, but that it was a habit. Suddenly, there was a loud clattering behind her, gasping, she stopped dead in her tracks and looked behind her and looked around. Her hand slipped down towards the opening of her jacket, ready to pull out the phaser, and if necessary, use it. SaVal scanned the area carefully with her eyes, looking over every detail. The noise sounded again and she found what direction it was in, and looked towards it, her hand on the phaser. Two figured moved out of the shadows of an alley way, holding something. One muttered something; SaVal sighed and closed her eyes. Just people looking for food, something that happened frequently in this day and age, some just couldnt find work, or some other damned thing, it seems it wasnt widely known that you didnt need work, or a high social status to get food, it was provided to you.

SaVal sighed and removed her hand from the phaser and turned to walk up the street. She pulled the jacket close to her and again cursed her self. She almost shot people out of fear, and what was it they were doing? Looking for food, thats what. SaVal rounded another corner, nearing her destination, a similar apartment building, onlt this end of town was far more dangerous. Why Alicia lived here, SaVal couldnt fathom. Once the compound for Starfleet officers were completed near headquarters, SaVal intended for her home on earth to be there. While there could still be threat, there was Security, Starfleet security at that. Well trained officers who would do their jobs as supposed to do. Although, while they werent necessarily limited to Starfleet grounds, but the rest of the planet.was large. The whole point was for Officers to choose to live among other officers if they wished, or in SaVals case to free up a Civilian apartment for someone who could need it.

SaVal stopped once again in her tracks and looked at the door ahead of her. She had made it to her destination: Alicia Kirian Lees apartment building.

Chris, this is pretty dang awesome. I love how you established the new bad guy by saying they beat the crud out of the Borg, the former big boy baddies. Nicely done.

((Thanks, Andy! . I decided along with working on the MU fan fic, I wanted a challange, and missed an RPG I had attemped, some slight adaptions, and here we are! It is off to a slow start, but I think I'm getting there. Mucho thanks for the commento!))

Alicia sat quietly staring at the candle that burned in the darkness. It was currently, the only source of light in the entire apartment. The flame danced wildly, almost as if at any moment it could rage out of control and consume the entire building. Alicia allowed her mind to blank as she studied the flame, as if it had the answers she was seeking in life, or if there was something she needed to find in there. Making no sound or movement other then breathing, Alicia continued to stare at the flame.

Suddenly, Alicia sighed and stood up from where she was sitting. She picked up the candle and used it for light as she walked across the room and activated the lights. Alicia blew the flame out and set the candle down on a stand then turned to look over the room. For the last several years, this is where she lived, as she served in her capacity, mostly on Earth, although occasionally going on space patrols in the system.

Alicia moved across the room and looked out a window onto the night sky. So many times she had done that, but never has she looked with a slight ting of anticipation, for in two days she would be among the stars that decorated the night stars. One of the reasons she stared at the flame, as she had just been doing, was to think about the future, or the immediate future anyways. How would things go? In the meeting yesterday, Captain SaVal assured everyone that things would be fine, and the people would be comfortable, systems on the ship ensured that.

Alicia found SaVal quite interesting, she was so different. Vulcans, it seem had many, many physiological differences then Humans, and yet they were also similar. Thats in addition to the physical differences; it surprised Alicia to learn that their blood for instance, was green.

Alicia moved across the room again, and picked up a small device, what was it called? Oh, yeah, a PADD. On it contained the schematics to the ship, which she took the time to study to learn the ships layout, deck by deck, room by room.

Deciding she needed some air, Alicia changed into warmer street clothing and moved towards the door, opening it just as a familiar face appeared and was about to knock. The one she was just thinking about.

Captain, Alicia started, slightly startled, Whatwhat are you doing here?

((Here's another one Founder, and anyone else that reads this. This one is a little long, and probably dont really add to much in to many eyes, but this is from an adaptaition of the RPG, and something I felt neccesarry to do, also I feel it makes up for the rather short previous post))

SaVal gasped slightly and moved back, she had just moved her hand to knock on the door. Alicia spoke, confused about SaVals sudden appearance.

Captain, whatwhat are you doing here?

SaVal offered a reassuring smile, and spoke quietly.

Im sorry, I must be intruding I was just hoping to get to know my officers before the launch in a couple days. I should have called ahead

Alicia shook her head, realizing what was just going on. SaVal was just popping in for a visit, to see how things were going.

Nono, its quite alright, Captain, I was just looking for something to do, and well, it just showed up

Alicia smiled and moved back slightly, and motioned with a hand.

Come in, Captain.

SaVal nodded and moved into the apartment. The place was really quite quaint, although like many other places, it was quiet run down.

Were not in uniform, Alicia, you can call me SaVal.

Alicia nodded in acknowledgement, and carefully closing the door behind them. She stepped forward and smiled nervously and fumbled with her fingers.

Very well, SaVal it is. Would you like some Tea, SaVal?

SaVal nodded as she spoke, her favorite drink.

Yes, please. Tea would be just fine.

Alicia nodded and moved towards the kitchen.

Make your self comfortable, SaVal. Would green tea be ok?

SaVal nodded as she moved towards the couch to sit down. Alicia looked around the corner as SaVal removed her jacket, hitting her phaser and causing it to de-holster and fall to the floor. SaVal gasped and looked over to Alicia quickly then as she started blushing bent down to pick the phaser up, ending up fumbling with it as she tried to pick it up quickly. She spoke trying to explain her self.

IsorryII just

Alicia smiled and chuckled slightly.

Its ok CaptI mean, SaVal. I understand, its dangerous out there at night.

SaVal sighed as she picked the phaser up and tucked it under the jacket and sat down. Alicia had disappeared behind the corner again, clattering around in the kitchen, from the sounds of things, getting the tea. SaVal sighed again and closed her eyes and wished she wasnt so worked up about things. Alicia came back into the room, carrying a tray which contained a kettle, and two cups. As she set the tray down, and began to serve the tea, SaVal searched for the right words.

About the phaser, I didnt mean for...

Alicia shook her head, and waved SaVal off.

Dont worry about it; its natural to want to protect your self. Its dangerous out there.

SaVal shifted, the true reasons she carried the phaser wasnt known to many, and she preferred it that way. However, if the two women that were about to run a ship together, were to trust each other, perhaps Alicia should know.

Petty thieves are not why I carry the phaser.

Alicia sat down and frowned slightly, not quite getting what her new Captain was getting at. SaVal sighed and shifted slightly she looked around the room then back to Alicia.

I

SaVal, Alicia started, Really, its alright. Dont worry about it.

SaVal looked down to the table where the cup of tea was sitting. She carefully picked it up and held it in her hands, absorbing the heat the hot liquid gave off though her hands. She looked down, not wanting to look at Alicia in the eyes.

When I was freed, I wasnt a slave of the Slurgs.

Alicia looked to SaVal, wondering what she had meant by that statement. SaVal sighed, realizing that Alicia was looking at her. She looked up slowly at Alica.

WhenI was 16, some people that had managed to get away attacked the area I was in. They supposedly freed slaves

Alicia shifted, listening intently, not sure if she liked where this was going. SaVal took a deep breath and continued.

However, they only took them to work for them. That included me; I was taken, foolishly thinking I was being freed. Instead, I was forced to becomfort to the males.

Alicia gasped in shock at what she heard. SaVal looked down, her face showing a green ting, of embarrassment, or was it shame? Alicia sighed slightly and stood and moved to the couch and sat down next to SaVal. SaVal sighed quietly and continued to look down. If Alicia didnt know better, SaVal seemed to be fighting the impulse to break down and cry. Alicia reached out carefully for SaVal. She touched the Vulcan womans shoulder gently.

Its.you

SaVal looked over towards Alicia; however her eyes still looked down. Alicia continued.

Its not your fault, SaVal.

SaVal didnt say anything at first, as if she was unsure what to say. She sighed again and looked up; Alicia saw the sadness in her eyes.

Itell my self that every morning when I awake.

Alicia sighed at those words. Whatever this poor woman had been though, it was quite traumatic, that much was clear. The fact that she was in the service though and was to captain a vessel in two days made her even more amazing. Alicia studied SaVal for a moment. What was in the Vulcan womans soul? What pain was there? Alicia knew there was pain; she could see it in the eyes, something she had always been able to do with people. Alicia searched for the words to say, but SaVal spoke first.

Perhaps, we should find another topic to discuss.

Alicia nodded in agreement, that sounded like a good idea to her indeed. A silence filled the room at first, one that seemed to dull the hearing. SaVal shifted slightly, looking at Alicia directly.

Do you feel prepared for this? Most of your career has been right here on Earth.

Of course, Captain, Alicia responded. She was more then ready for this, I look forward to serving the alliance, and ensuring that the freedom we finally enjoy, lasts.

Indeed? Youre certain this is the proper decision then.

Yes, Captain, I am most certain.

That is good, Alicia. I have reviewed your record; you are indeed, the most logical choice as first officer on this mission.

Alicia smiled slightly at the compliment, and the two women ended up sitting in silence again. SaVal sipped the tea and made a slight noise in approving of the flavor of the tea. Alicia was happy to see SaVal apparently enjoying the tea.

Enjoying the tea?

SaVal nodded and set the cup down. She looked to Alicia.

Yes, it seems sofresh.

Alicia chuckled slightly.

Thats because theres a crop of green tea leaves growing on my balcony.

SaVal returned the chuckle in a friendly manner.

Indeed? It shows. Quite good, the freshness that is.

Yes, it is. Its a shame though, having to leave it all behind.

Alicia frowned at the thought of leaving the plants behind, but there was simply no room on the ship, or her quarters. SaVal raised an eyebrow, something she did many times when confused, or puzzled, not quite understanding what Alicia was saying.

I beg your pardon?

Alicia looked to SaVal, she took a deep breath and let it out slowly, explaining what she meant.

I couldnt possibly have the space to grow the tea leaves. Theres only so much room on the ship.

SaVal shook her head.

Nonsense, I will arrange space for you to grow your leaves. Ill have room made in the hydroponics bay.

Alicia smiled at the gesture.

You dont have to do that, Captain.

SaVal looked to Alicia carfully.

Its SaVal, she started, the tone of her voice showed she wasnt serious, And yes I do, I like the fresh tea. Besides, you obviously get an enjoyment out of growing them; I couldnt possibly deny you that.

Alicia smiled again.

Thank you, SaVal.

SaVal returned the gesture.

Youre quite welcome, of course, Alicia.

The two women continued to talk of various things as the night moved on. One such subject was the ships crew, and how had known who already, before everyone had met at the gathering the day before. SaVal had known many people already, between the resistance, and being a Starfleet Captain. One in particular was Kai Wu, the ships second officer, and chief of security along with chief tactical officer. Venturing back into the past, SaVal told Alicia that Kai was the one that found her, even though he was from Vulcan, he and several others made to Earth and attacked the Slurgs, or having meant to. The found the hidden lair of the people that took SaVal, and saw what it was they were doing, and attacked. Kai personally rescued SaVal when he found her in a corner wrapped up in a blanket and shaking in fear.

Its getting late, I should get going SaVal said suddenly.

Alicia nodded and stood along with SaVal who was placing her jacket on. She holstered her phaser under her jacket in the proper place and headed for the door. SaVal moved towards the door and noticed Alicia following behind, putting on a jacket.

Ill walk you though the neighborhood, SaVal.

Its ok, Alicia, I can make it.

Nonsense, she started, Its to trouble at all. What is one supposed to do for her Captain? Besides, I dont trust anyone in this area of town.

SaVal hesitated then nodded in agreement, accepting the company.

Very well, I will accept your company.

Alicia nodded and opened the door and gestured for SaVal to step though first. When she exited, Alicia followed her closely behind. They moved towards the step when SaVal heard a loud noise that was a couple floors up.

What was that, she asked as she looked up.

Alicia sighed sadly.

That would be the married couple upstairs once again, feuding with each other.

SaVal looked towards the stairs that lead up, only to be stopped by Alicia.

Theres nothing we can do, we should go.

SaVal sighed and hesitated, wanting go upstairs and deal with the feuding couple She finally turned and moved towards the stairs, following Alicia down to the lobby and out the door onto the street, heading home.

SaVal walked down the street with Alicia; she had her jacket pulled close to her. Not that it was overly cold; it made her feel safer to do so. SaVal could hear Alicia breathing in the cool night, something she found interesting, that she could hear better then the humans (Or many other species) around her, yet another difference in Vulcans, which was interesting as there were many similarities, yet vast differences. SaVal shrugged to her self on that thought when she heard Alicia spoke.

Two days.

SaVal looked over, wondering exactly what she meant.

Excuse me?

Two days, the launch. Its two days away, all these years weve been working towards this, now its two days away.

Oh, right. Yes, I feel that weve earned this, striving all of these years for this goal, now we have reached it SaVal replied.

The two walked in silence for a few moments, both enjoying the cool air, and each others company. There was a time when you were simply forced with a group of people, no matter whom they were. While people got along for the most part, there were a fewquestionable morals in some people. SaVal of course, knew all about people with questionable Morals. She shuddered at that thought. She was brought out of her thoughts when Alicia spoke again.

Is the crew still in the area? That is, did anyone leave the planet or the city after the meeting?

SaVal looked to Alicia, having been distracted; she had to think on what she meant before answering.

Yes, they are, some are even already on the ship although most of those are the engineering officers.

Alicia nodded in understanding. To aide in the final touch up and construction of the ship, and to get a feel of where things were, a hands on approach, the engineering staff decided to board the ship a few days early.

Are you ok?

What?

Alicia continued, voicing her concern to SaVal.

Are you ok? You seemdistracted.

Oh, noIm fine, just thinking over some things.

Alicia frowned. What would she be thinking over that it would distract her like that? Well, it could actually be anything she supposed. She was about to Captain a starship in two days.

The two walked the rest of the way in silence, taking in their surroundings, and both thinking about the upcoming mission. After several minutes, they had arrived near SaVals building.

Thank you for the company, Alicia.

Alicia gave a warm smile.

It was my pleasure, Captain. Ill see you in a couple days.

Alicia turned and walked back down the street, towards her apartment, disappearing into the darkness. SaVal sighed and was about to go inside when she gazed upwards to the sky. She saw the occasional craft fly by, but was studying the stars. They seemedso small, sodistant. In two days, however, she would be traveling among them.

The steam of the hot water began to fill the room as Natasa Burroughs, the science officer of the Discovery stepped into the shower and sighed. The heat felt good after a long day of running around, taking care of final business before the ship was going to launch. Always being interested in the ways of science, from staring at the sky, to studying plant life, Natasa was the prime candidate for the chief science position. Natasa moved her head as she let the hot water bath her in the heat. Natasa had chosen to move onto the base, as some called it, while not complete, one of the lower wings, for the lower officers had been finished. Natasa moved into the room right away when it became available. Her eyes snapped opened when she heard a noise. She listened carefully, not moving, or making a sound. The noise happened again, it sounded like a clattering, and it was from inside the apartment. Not turning the water off, to use it as cover, Natasa quietly moved out of the shower, reaching for the Phaser she had taken into the room with her. There was another clatter, as she reached for a towel to cover up her decency, as she moved for the door. Natasa peeked though the crack of the door and didnt see anything. She opened it slowly and steped though, and gripped the phaser tightly as she moved though the room. She looked around the room. She heard a creak and spun around and aimed the phaser, but didnt see anything. She sighed quietly and looked around some more, turning to face the direction as before, the last thing she saw was the fist slamming into her face.

Natasa groaned and rolled onto her back. She sighed and moved her hand up to her face where she had been hit. She groaned again as her eyes fluttered open and looked around. She slowly sat up and looked around. She sighed.

Damn it to hell.

She stood up and stumbled and moved for the wall, and turned on the lights. As she had suspected from the darkness, the room was empty.

Damn it to hell!

Natasa sighed angrily and looked around. From what she could see the towel around her was the only thing left in her room. Natasa looked around and moved to the middle of the room.

Damn, damn, damn!

She sighed again and looked around for anything; of course there was nothing, in the main room, the closet, or any other room in the apartment. Whomever hit her took everything. She sighed and moved over to the wall where the rooms controls were, where there was also a com panel. She pressed a button, which was a direct line. A voice responded.

Security, may I assist you?

Natasa sighed and spoke.

This is Ensign Burroughs, I need someone sent to my room, Ive been robbed
