Quote: | New Ground Zero designs unveiled
Plans for three new skyscrapers to sit alongside Freedom Tower on the site of the World Trade Center in New York have been unveiled by architects.
The towers will descend in height in a semicircle around the memorial to the victims of the 11 September attacks.
The latest designs complete the plans for Ground Zero whose showpiece Freedom Tower is already under construction. |

I like that much more than the last rendering of it that I saw.

Somehow, I wouldn't build skyscrapers...just me. It does look pretty, but I was fond of the pillars or columns of light someone submitted a while back.

They're pretty, but I do feel that something a little more simplistic and reflective would have more of an impact, much like the columns of light Arellia mentioned. Also, Freedom Tower? I wish they could use something a little more...moving. Or representitive. I feel like the word 'freedom' (as wonderful as it is, don't get me wrong there) is a little overused today. It would have more impact if it wasn't used so often.
However, I love the fact that the new buildings will surround a garden. I'd like to be able to see what they have planned for that. A place for reflection, memory, and rest in the middle of Manhattan would be just the right thing. And the cleanliness and clarity of the buildings is very beautiful.

^ I agree with you, too, Trekkiemage, on the name. Freedom Tower makes me think of idiot politicians spouting off meaningless rhetoric... I wish it would be a word that retains its meaning, at least in this context. But eh, that's how it goes.

Well my idea has always been two build them back exactly the same as they were, except one story taller. Buuuuuuut that is just me, and unfortunately I don't think anyone who has a say in the matter cares what I say .
