Quote:
TOKYO - A defiant North Korea test-fired a long-range missile Wednesday that may be capable of reaching America, but it failed seconds after launch, U.S. officials said. The North also tested four of shorter range in an exercise the White House termed "a provocation" but not an immediate threat.

At least none of them seemed to work. All I can think about is the headline from the Onion: "North Korea Nukes Itself in a Desperate Plea for Attention". Immature as it is, that's what keeps going through my head.

If one of those missles exploded on the launch pad they would be in some serious trouble.

North Korean Missile was aimed at Hawaii
The Taepodong-2 long-range missile recently test-fired by North Korea was pointed at waters near Hawaii, the Sankei Shimbun reported Friday in its online edition.

Citing government sources in Japan and the United States, the report said Japan's Defense Agency and the U.S. military reached the conclusion after analyzing the missile's path from data collected by Aegis-equipped destroyers and RC-135S electronic reconnaissance aircraft.

It just broke on Fox News, heres the story:

Heard all about that on Fox the other night at my grandparent's house. We were distressed at this news. I grow more and more concerned about this, especially with the recent news surrounding North Korea. Is this just a desperate attempt to get attention? I'm not so sure about this.
These are dangerous and concerning times, to be sure, what with the War on Terror, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Chavez' idiocy, Israel, etc. etc. I just hope many of these crises can be remedied in relatively short order...
