What you guys think of this great actor?
I think he is a fantastic actor for his strong voice in films.
I noticed in his imdb.com profile that all of his characters name sound similiar.
Julian Bashir (DS9)
Kareem Nazir (Vertical Limit)
Nasir (Kingdom of Heaven)
Prince Nasir (Syriana)

This man is an amazing actor. He did great in KOH. Its nice to see good Arabic actors making it big in America. I wish he did more. He was one of my favorite charecters in Deep Space Nine. By the way? His name is not Alexander. He changed it because he was tired of people mispronouncing his real name which is Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig El Abderahman El Mohammed Ahmed El Abdel Karim El Mahdi.

Wow! No wonder! That's one heck of a name, and yet it doesn't look like he would have that name...He doesn't look Arabic...Seems more British to me...
And he's in Kingdom of Heavan? Cool!

He is Arabic, but was raised in England. He was born in Sudan, Africa. He didn't look very Arabic in DS9, but anywhere else its quite apparent he is. A fabulous actor. Hes been overlooked by Hollywood for far too long. KOH was due for him.

I have to say honestly that I have never seen him act in anything other than Star Trek. I really do like how he was able to portray the character of Julian Bashire. In season one he did a remarkable job in making the doctor annoying and... Well not needed other than for medical reasons. He is a great actor and Deep Space Nine clearly shows that time after time. If I had to pick another actor for the role I wouldnt pick anyone but him. He truly is Dr. Bashir on so many levels.

IN response to the question in the now locked Siddig El Fidel & Alexander Siddig topic. I have heard why this was done. Apparently, it was found that his name was hard to pronounce by fans. So, he used "alexander" for easyer pronouncination

he's North African Hamitic rather than Arabic Semitic in race just for the record. The character of Julian Bashir in DS9 was Turkish as seen in the episode in which his parents come to the station. The Name "Bashir" was a slight give away for me that he wasn't portraying a western european average brit

I haven't actually seen the episode where they dwell into his background recently, but I was reading the DS9 Companion and for that particular Episode the producer discusses how they wanted to bring Bashir's turkish humble parents to the station to reveal a little more about Bashir's character. So I'm assuming that particular episode but don't take my word as gospel or anything.
