Outrageous. This really shows the world how corrupt and ultimately fascist and oppressive Russia still is, even after the fall of the Soviet Union, perhaps even more so than it was during the Soviet era.

Aren't the police supposed to protect protesters?

Exactly. In Russia the police aren't there to protect justice, they're there to forward the governments corrupt political goals and opinions.

Sadly, I can't say I'm too surprised by the behavior of the Russian police. It's disappointing, really it is. All I'm trying to do is promote peace and equality amongst people of any/all orientations...scary to think that in Russia, those who are trying to stand up for themselves cannot do so in safety.

This is insane.

I guess they don't use the motto "To protect and to serve." And they call themselves religious? I'm religious, but I don't go to some parade and begin to "cleanse the world of these sinners." Violent actions against a group of people who meant no harm what so ever should not be tolerated. "Glory to Russia?" I thought they were all wrapped up in "glory to God." Will it ever end, I ask you?
