PostTue Jul 20, 2004 6:01 am    I heard a rumor....

I heard a rumor a few weeks ago that there were talks about a trilogy of Star Trek movies. I have no idea if this is true or not , and if anyone knows any info please pass it on.

I heard that the all wouldd take place between the birth of the Warp Drive and end with Kirk as an ensign. As I say I just heard about it so who knows how true it is.

Don't call me a pessimist, but this depresses me.

They shouldnt make a PRE-Federatioin movie, tha'd be bum. They should make a movie whare they finally get a transwarp-drive/slipstream-drive to work, opening the way for a new series.

The "movie trilogy" rumor seems to have been bogus. However, the current rumor is that there will be a prequel movie, which may or may not feature the Romulan War, and may or may not involve Starfleet Academy.

Heh. Only show taking the "new galaxy" direction at the moment is Stargate Atlantis.

Much of this site seems to be, its quite true. However, be careful not to assume that this site is representative of Trek fandom as a whole----there are other sites where the primary voice is in favor of a DS9 movie, or an ENT movie, or whatnot.

I agree completly. VOY movies arent always in demand. I would prefer a DS9 movie. VOY is ok too. ENT? Maybe. It actually might help the show who knows? I don't think a movie thats not based from one of the shows would be any good though. We want charecters we already know. If they make a new movie with all new charecters, then we will wonder what happened to them in the show.

A movie situated in/around/after/before the Romulan wars could possibly show the Birth of the Federation... But if B&B have any brains they should wait untill Enterprise get's somewhat older and 'stops' (AKA seven season run).
The third season attracted more then enough old fans back to the vold and also some new ones... If next season and the ones after that hopefully can keep the fans hooked (with good stories & some action; cuz sadly most new fans want to see all war trek ) this series might top the other recent trek series (and 90% of the other scifi in general for that matter).

Anyway... Just kill off one character (sorry Mayweather). Or give him + the other 'underlings' a lil more light. They NEEEED MORE development. Practiuarly screaming for it.

I agree with some of what you said. No need to kill off anyone YET. That charecter just needs more development thats all. Im one of those people that like "all war trek". Sorry but going from planet to planet and solving problems within an hour gets old. Besides the Pre-TOS,TNG,DS9, and VOY era was filled with war. Im not saying ONLY war. They need first contacts and such but war is needed for continuity.

It would definetly be great to see the war , there is so much fan fiction out there revolving aroud it but no real storylines. It definetly would be awesome to see another side to the franchise. Although I'm still a sucker for some Star Trekking , planet to planet solving problems.... just like always

Same here. I'd just prefer a war.

At the moment, I doubt ENT will last beyond four seasons. It'd have to see a notable pickup in ratings for it to be worth renewing again------season 3 managed to stabilize the previously falling ratings, but they'd already reached minimum profitable numbers in the first two years.

I could see it topping Voyager, maybe. Parts of it, anyway. I'm not sure it'd be possible to top DS9 or TNG from its current situation.

Now, if you're comparing single seasons rather than entire series, that's another matter.

Here's a good example: ENT season 3 was stronger than Stargate SG1 season 7. However, Stargate SG-1 is still stronger than ENT overall. (IMO, of course.)

While its possible that ENT season 4 could be great, I'm afraid that ENT's first two years have already held it down to the point where it'll never be more than middle-of-the-line SF in most people's eyes. The "best of" list for SF shows is reserved for those that really tried to reach out and do something different than what had been done before; shows like DS9, Babylon 5, and Firefly. Of course, some shows that try to be different turn out as crap; but those that succeed, are usually terrific.
