Paul Xavier Gleason known as 'Principal Richard Vernon' from The Breakfast Club has passed away in a Burbank, California Hospital last saturday (May 27, 2006) of a rare form of cancer called mesothelioma. It has been linked to mesothelioma. He was born on May 4th, 1944 making him 67 years old. He is perhaps known for his role in The Breakfast Club (Or the spoof of it in Not Another Teen Movie) Or his role in Die Hard (OR the spoof of it in Loaded Weapon 1.

He decided to try acting after viewing a movie with his friends back in 1961, which eventually he would do in 1965 in Winter A-Go-Go as 'Ski Resort Guest'. He then went on to make other minor (and mostly uncredited) appearnces in seveal movies, and guest staring in several differnt shows such as The Green Lantern and Mission Impossible By the time he was popular, it was not uncommon to see Mr. Gleason have a character that is a teacher, or a principal that takes 'no none sense'.

He is survived by his wife, two duaghters, and one grandduagter.

Whenever you were with Paul, there was never a dull moment. He was awesome." - Susan Gleason (Widow)

"He was an athlete, an actor and a poet. He gave me and my sister a love that is beyond description that will be with us and keep us strong for the rest of our lives." - Shannon Gleason-grossman (Duaghter)
