Fri Apr 14, 2006 2:05 pm Rammstein: Do you know the Lyrics? |
|
Borgslayer topic Great Non-US Metal Bands has got me thinking cause a few people have expressed that they listen to Rammstein or have listen to them.
But what i want to know is how many people actually knows what the Lyrics mean and are saying cause i know a lot of my freinds who listen to them can not speak or understand German, so why do you listen to them?
And i mean actually being able to know what they are saying during the songs and not just going to HERZELEID and reading the Lyrics.
I can speak and understand German so i know what they are saying but still do not know why you would listen to a band that you don't even know what they are saying.

Simply, because I like the music.
I like Schnappi, too, but don't understand that either (though I think it's something to do with a little crocodile that bites it's father's tail).

1. I'm trying to learn German and the songs help.
2. The music is just plain awesome
3. It's fun to sing (and talk) in a foreign language.
4. Rammstein is my favorite band.
Those are my reasons for listening to Rammstein.

I can understand German a little, i know the meanings of the lyrics in the Rammstein music. But even if i wouldn't i would still listen to it, like when they get a new song i will like it before i know what they are saying in it.
Classic music doesn't have any lyrics and people listen to that. I'm sure you are able to figure out why yourself.
I like some French music(like that old song that was sang by that group of children, if anyone knows the name of that.) but i have no clue whatsoever what they are singing...
of course most of the time i would like to know what its is they are singing. like with "Dragostea din tei".

The only Rammstein song I've actually listened to sober so that I could actually distinguish the words was the one that goes
We're all living in America, America est wonderbra
So... basically, we're living in America, it's wonderful.

You don't need to understand lyrics to have music be influential. Opera, for example.
