Monument in Newcastle is of the Second Earl Grey- the same one who was prime minister from 1830-1834 and who the tea was named after.

That one ?

Not sure if it is really political but the Ouseburn area was the start of the industrial revolution in Newcastle.

Also the biggest fair in europe makes a stop on the town moor every year, Known as 'The hoppings' (I thought it was spelt hoppins but what do I know ?) makes a stop in Newcastle and its getting more expensive every year, But who cares ? Its a load of fun. (Except Big Ben, That thing sways in the wind, Or it did at one point).
