PostMon Sep 11, 2006 11:16 pm    Tales Of Jurassic Park

Time:

August 21, 2006

Story:

John Hammond had a grand vision, drivin solely by greed. He had violated any morals, ethics, and responsibility that came with his dream. The vision? Jurassic Park. Using his company, InGen, he managed to clone dinosaurs and buy a chain of islands. One island, Isla Nublar, was the actual site for the theme park. Once the dinosaurs were fully grown, they were transported there, locked away for tourists to view them in all their splendor. He owned another island, Isla Sorna, that would allow the dinosaurs to grow. An accident happened-disease and hurricanes. InGen was forced to abandon their facilities there and left the dinosaurs to fend for themselves. Meanwhile, Hammond allowed special visitors to Isla Nublar to "test" the park and endorse it. What began with complete awe ended with tragedy and death. The survivors managed to flee the island, Hammond not included. Years later, one of the survivors returned to the island with others. While Biosyn, the top competator corporation against InGen, sent agents to finish a botched up job. Virtually all of both teams were killed. Isla Sorna was a closely guarded secret. Even the Costa Rican government, which destroyed the park on Isla Nublar, is oblivious of the other island. While they suspect there maybe activity there, they have done nothing. Now...years later...Jurassic Park is but a faded memory in the minds of most people, but the secret of the islands is about to be revealed and man will soon learn...that life has found a way...

Chapter 1-Isla Sorna

Isla Sorna, also known as Site B, sat within a chain of islands aptly called Las Cinco Muertes, AKA The Five Deaths. This island was special in that it had dozens of abandoned InGen facilities and was filled with prehistoric wonders. The island was isolated, as were the other nearby islands and was kept a close secret. Only a select few knew about it. What existed on the island was allowed to live and flourish without Human intervention. What existed...was of course...dinosaurs, brought back by scientist that worked for InGen. They undid what nature had done, extinction. InGen paid the price for their arrogance and many of the scientists were killed, including the head of InGen, John Hammond. Now...the dinosaurs roam free and live in relative order on the island.

The island present a serene look, but hid something deadly. The silence of the forest was shattered by the sounds of screams. A man, disheveled and covered in his blood, ran through the lush forest area. He kept looking back, wondering if he was being chased still. His hands slapped plants out of his way as he continued running from an unknown source. The only thing that could be heard from him now was heavy breathing as he pushed his legs to their limits. He would not stop for one second until he reached the beach. A boat was waiting for him, ready to take him off the island. If he made it there in time and in one piece. He jumped over a large log and landed right in a massive puddle. With a word that took the Lord's name in vain, he continued running as fast he could. His hands clutched a large case, carrying unknown items. Only he knew what they were. Whatever it held, was important enough for him to clutch the handle so hard that the blood was stopping at his hand. He ignored the pain and kept running, feeling his legs burn. For a moment, he thought he was definitly going to make it, but that hope was crushed when he heard a familiar cry. It made his blood stop pumping. The cry, more of a screeching sound, was getting closer. He looked back and saw a shape dash through the underbrush, chasing after him. It was certain...he was being hunted.

"No...please...no." He pleaded to no one.

He turned back in time to see another log in front of him, but it was too late to jump over it. His legs rammed into the wood, causing him to flip over it and land in the wet dirt with a painful sloshing sound. The case he had been holding went spiraling into the air, landing somewhere else. The man groaned and lifted his mud covered face off the ground. The case...that was all that mattered. He had to find it. The man pulled himself up and looked around for the case, while wiping the mud from his eyes. He thought he saw a flash of silver in the green foilage and moved towards it. His hand extended into the bush and reached to clutch it. He could feel the metal lining with the tips of his finger. It was just a mere inch away from his grasp. At that exact moment, he let out a scream so loud that nearby birds flew out of their nests. Sharp teeth sank into his soft flesh, ripping it off. He screamed as he was yanked into the bush and deadly claws tore him apart...while he was still alive. His case sat nearby, now being sprayed with blood from it's owner, abandoned and would probably be forgotten...

-7 Months Later-

Chapter 2-James Hatcher

"And that is why I believe dinosaurs truly died out by a disease..." A man said.

The man, James Hatcher, stepped back towards the center of the large stage he was standing on. Hatcher, a famous paleontologist, was speaking at a university in California about extinction to over a hundred students in an auditorium. He motioned for the lights to be turned back on and for the projector to be shut off.

"Any questions?" He asked.

The middle aged man's eyes scanned the large room, searching for any raised hands from a curious student. He spotted one about three rows to the left.

"Yes," He said, pointing to the person, "You."

A young girl of Hispanic descent dropped her hand when called on and answered.

"Yes doctor," She said, "You believe the dinosaurs were wiped out by disease, but...how could the disease reach from one corner of the Earth to the other? Was this...some global disease?"

James quickly nodded, already expecting this question.

"Yes," He replied, "Just like the...Avian flu today. It started in Asia, but now has been found in Europe, Africa, and in Canada. Diseases can be global. I think that whatever it was, it must have been a very deadly strain. Perhaps it affected the plant eaters only. They died and when the carnivores feasted on their flesh, they inherited the disease. Our ancestors probably feasted on fruits, plants, and insects. That might have been how they managed to survive. Then millions of years later...the disease eventually dissapeared and our ancestors were able to feast on both flesh and plant life."

Another student raised their hand to which James quickly motioned for them to speak.

"Wouldn't traces of this disease be found on the fossils?" He asked.

James cocked his head to the side as if he was thinking about it momentarily.

"It is possible," He said, "I, myself, am doing an indepth study on this matter. But I don't think the disease had anything to do with their bones, so it wouldn't show perse."

He nodded towards another student who had their hand raised.

"Yes," He said, "Are you saying you don't believe in the Ice Age?"

James shook his head, "Absolutely not. I believe a definite climate change did occur, but it was not a result of an asteroid crashing into the Earth. Now that isn't to say that an asteroid did not collide with Earth. Many theories are possible. Some scientists beleive all theories could be right, who knows? I'm just saying that I believe disease was the chief killer of the dinosaurs."

He saw no other questions and motioned towards the professor he was done. The professor clapped, prompting the rest of the class to follow.

"Thank you very much Dr. Hatcer." She said.

James bowed his head, "My pleasure."

The students rushed out of the room, not wanting to be late for their next class or simply wanting to escape the atmosphere of school. James placed all of his papers in the briefcase and walked out of the room after exchanging a few more words with the teacher of the class. It was a good friend of his' and he had spoken at that school several times in the past couple of years. James was glad to see so many next generation paleontologists in the room. He knew that field could use more people. God knows he could use more paleontologist. The man was slowly hitting hte poor house sadly, barely having enough to fund the dig site he and his crew were currently on. They had discovered the skeletal fossils of a Triceratops, relatively intact. A good find, but finding all of it was tough. He walked out of the room and nearly collided into a short, chubby man wearing very fancy clothing.

"Oh...excuse me." James said.

The man smiled and shook his head, "No problem lad. Not a problem at all. Dr. Hatcher right?"

James reacted in surprise, not recongizing the individual.

"Yes...do we...know each other?" He asked.

After meeting so many people for his work, it was possible this man was just another no name he met. The man chuckled and shook his head once more.

"No," He said, "My name is Benjamin Roth."

He extended his hand for James to shake. A student brushed along James as he walked towards class. The hall was crowded with students, rushing about, heading towards either class, some club meeting, or rushing home. James envied them, wishing he didn't have to return to another long day at the dig site. It was depressing now, knowing that it may be their last dig. James took the man's hand, vaguely recognizing the name.

"Benjamin Roth...that name sounds familiar..." He said.

Roth stepped out of the way of incoming students, while still clutching James' hand. A large ring sat on his index finger, covered in gold and diamonds.

"I own Roth Zoos, conservation parks, and water parks," He said, "I have 11 in total, all over the world. Maybe you've heard of them?"

James' eyes widened in realization at who the man was. He pretty much had a conglomerate when it came to animals. He owned many zoos, conservation parks to protect endangered species, and water parks for all those to enjoy marine life.

"My God," He said, "I've been to one of your zoos. It was incredible. Very interactive and a great learning experiance. You pretty much recreated the animal's natural habitats instead of sticking them in cages..."

Benjamin let go of James' hand finally and looked around before focusing back on James.

"Indeed," He said in an English accent, "I love animals-always have. I believe they should be preserved, studied, and cherished. Which is why I came to you dr. Murphy. I came to the school to offer you a...job."

James laughed nervously, not really understanding what the man meant.

"I'm sorry," He joked, "But the animals I deal in have been dead for 65 million years."

The elderly man returned the laugh, "Thats what you think. Fancy some lunch?"

James looked hesistant, knowing he had to report to the dig site and assist. Benjamin recognized his hesitant look and quickly followed up on his request.

"I promise you I am not wasting your time doctor." He said.

The paleontologist could only wonder what it was the man wanted to speak to him about. A job? Was it at one of his zoos? There would not be much for him to do unless he had planned to open a dinosaur exhibit. He was about to say that he really should go, but then again, how often does one get to have lunch with a billionaire who wanted to offer you a job while you were suffering through financial debt?

"I'd love to." He said.

(Thanks guys. )

Chapter 3-Benjamin Roth

The rich conservationist and the rather broke paleontologist sat outside of a cafe, sipping drinks and eating a light brunch.

"So what is this about exactly?" James asked, while taking a sip of his coffee.

Benjamin took a bite from a pastry he bought before answering. He quickly wiped his mouth of any crumbs and replied.

"Do you know about...Jurassic Park?" He asked.

He scanned the man's face, searching for an answer before he said anything. Jurassic Park itself was not common knowledge. No one knew about it. Survivors of Isla Nublar hadn't spoken about it after being silenced and paid off by the Costa Rican government.

"No," James said, "What is that...?"

Benjamin had a feeling that James would be skeptical. anyone would be on this matter. It didn't matter, because Benjamin knew the truth about the whole thing. He was careful not to speak about the park too loud. Belief in that would destroy anyone's credibility in the eyes of many.

"It is...was...a park filled with prehistoric wonders." He explained cryptically.

James shook his head, "Are you planning on opening a dinosaur park in one of your zoos? They're doing great things with animotronics these days, but I feel it would be more authentic if you had fossils only."

Benjamin laughed at the idea. Moreso because James was so off in his assumption.

"No, nothing like that," He said, "Besides...why deal with fossils when I can see the real thing?"

James squinted his eyes at the billionair, not quite understanding where he was going with this.

"The real thing...?" He asked, skeptical.

Benjamin leaned forward really close, whispering his response.

"Indeed lad," He replied, "Jurassic Park...did not have animatronics. It had the real thing...Dinosaurs, brought back through genetic engineering."

James tried to control his anger, furious that he was late for the dig because of this.

"Mr. Roth," He said, "You told me that you weren't wasting my time and quite frankly, this isn't funny..."

Roth shook his head quickly with a serious face, "Oh no no no no. This is no joke. That park is real. I know it...because I knew John Hammond, its creator. I can't prove to you it's real right here, right now. All I can say is, I'm putting an expedition together. A team of...shall we say...believers to go to this island."

He laced his fingers together to "show" his point.

"Together," He said, "I will show you John Hammond's vision. It's real..."

Benjamin looked straight into James eyes, revealing complete honesty and seriousness.

"I want you to come along," He said, "I need someone with your expertise."

James, still skeptical, asked, "Why me?"

Benjamin wiped his hands with his napkin, done with brunch.

"Because," He said, "I believe you are the best and would have the knowledge to explain the nature of these animals. We would only be going to one of the islands."

"So there are several islands?" James asked.

Before Benjamin could respond, a waiter approached them and asked about the check. He quickly grabbed it, stating he would pay for it all. As soon as the waittress left, he continued while pulling out a large wad of money and placing two twenties on the table.

"Five others actually," He said, "But there is only one that I know for a fact exists and is occupied."

"Look," James said, "I appreciate you buying me brunch or whatever, but I don't like being jerked around. I'm not sure if what you're saying is even true..."

Benjamin quickly put the money away and looked back at James, never revealing even a hint that this was some kind of joke.

"Dr. Hatcher," He said stiffly, "I'm a billionair. Why would I waste my time, fly all the way to California from South Africa, just to play a prank on you? I don't even know you, but you do come highly recommended. I'll pay you whatever you want. In fact, I'll write the check right now if you wish."

James looked uncertain still, but Benjamin did prove a good point. Why would the man be playing a prank on him?

"I...don't know," He said, "This is a lot to take in..."

"Dr. Hatcher," He said, "How often does the astronomer get to become the astronaut? I'm giving you a chance to see living, breathing dinosaurs, in the flesh. No more dry bones. No more questining if they lived a certain way. You will get to see it all for yourself. Are you really going to tell me no?"

Chapter 4-Sean Hopkins

Sean was laying flat on his stomach, brushing dirt off of the skeletal fossil they had recently discovered. Several other people were spread out, doing the same thing he had been. They had a deadline to meet and things were not going so well. Their financial woes continued to mount and the lack of manpower led to a very slow dig. If this kept up, it would be another several months before it was finally pulled from the ground. Sean heard the familiar sounf of James' Ford truck approaching. He stood up, dusting the dirt from his clothes.

"Take 5!" He ordered.

He felt bad for the small team they had. Since they had so few people, they had to make up for it by over working. In this heat, that was a very painful thing to do. He walked over to the slowing truck and approached the driver side.

"Hey boss." He welcomed.

James stopped the car and put it on park, casting a quick nod to his friend and future successor.

"Sean," He said, "Get your things packed. We're leaving."

Sean gave him a confused look, following after him as he rushed out of the truck.

"What are you talking about?" He asked, "What about the dig site?"

James stopped and looked around, paranoid that someone may hear. When he felt that no one was nearby, he spoke.

"I have an interesting job," He said, "I just got it today. You're going with me though. Not only are we going to be funded for the next ten digs, but we're going to live every paleontologists dream."

"Have you been drinking?" Sean asked.

James chuckled and slapped his friend on the back.

"Go get your things," He repeated, "Trust me...you won't regret it."

Sean watched as James walked away, pretty much glowing. Whatever it was, he was very happy. This had to be a good job. Sean rushed into one of the trailers near the dig site and prepared to pack...

Chapter 5-Jake Xavier

A fair skinned man, Jake Xavier, was hiding in a bush in Africa. He was staring down the barrel of his rifle, aiming at a rather large animal. His eyes focused on the blur of grey and black amidst the green foilage. There was his target, idly sitting and eating plants. If he killed and bagged it, he could make several thousand easy. Well...depending on who he sold it to of course. A silverback Gorilla. Deadly...if it had been aware of him. His fingers gently began to push down the trigger. Weeks of hunting always came down to this one moment...the shot.

"Bye-bye..." He whispered softly.

Before he could pull the trigger, he heard a loud roar. He turned his head to see a large female Gorrila appear and slammed it's closed fist against his back. Jake screamed in pain, feeling as if a sledgehammer slammed into his lower back. He dropped the rifle, but immediatly reached for a dagger in his vest. With a quick turn around, he thrusted the knife right into the side of the female's head, killing her instantly. It went slack and dropped to the ground, taking his knife with him. He cursed a loud obscenity while clutching his injured back. He had gotten sloppy with his hunting methods, to complacent and he paid for it. Had he used the proper protocals, this would have never happened. Before he could hide again, the male Gorilla, the one he had been hunting, charged towards him. It had seen him and what he had done to it's mate. Jake rolled forward, ignoring the shooting pain in his back and scooped up the gun. Right as the silverback lifted it's massive fists to kill him, Jake fired the gun. The bullet pierced the silverback directly in the face and it dropped immediatly, dead. Jake wiped the blood trickling from his mouth. He breathed hard, partially from the pain and partially from the adrenaline. He would have to find a way to sneak the carcasses across the border, seeing as how poaching was illegal in this particular country. That didn't concern him much though. Everyone could be bought off for the right price. Even him...especially him.

Chapter 6-Judi Smith

An elderly women blew into a cup of tea to cool it, letting her forceful breath blow the steam aside. She handed it the cup to her old friend, Benjamin Roth.

"You actually got him to say yes?" She asked.

Benjamin took the cup from her hand and brought it to his mouth.

"Yes, I did," He said, then took a sip, "Wonderful tea as always Judi."

She smiled and walked over to a nearby plant, snipping at it with scissors.

"Always the negotiator, Ben." She remarked.

Roth took another sip of the tea, "I like to think so. I managed to convince almost everyone...except one."

She quickly stopped clipping and looked back at him.

"Oh?" She asked, "And would that one be nearby?"

He let out a quiet chuckle, "Yes....that one would be. Come on...you would be great. Besides, they may even have exotic fauna. Do you really want to miss that?"

Her hands gently placed the scissors down on a nearby table.

"We're not the young people we used to be," She said, "I'm too old to be going gallivanting on islands filled with dangerous animals."

Benjamin gently placed the cup down and took her hand, "Trust me, you've never seen animals like this. You won't regret it."

His old friend cast a curious glance in his direction, still not fully understanding. They had known each other for years, both being born in London. She had married Benjamin's brother and became a widow in the early 90s. Both have remained close friends.

"Alright Ben," She said, "You know I could never resist one of your adventures."

"That's the spirit love," He said, "Get your things packed...we leave soon!"

(Thanks Chris, thanks for reading. )

Chapter 7-Cain Frost

Cain Frost, one of the senior board members of Biosyn, sat in his office, staring into his laptop. A recorded video was being played back. A man in his mid forties was speaking into a camera, reporting in.

"Day 12-George Forbes reporting in," He said, "I don't know what's happened. Several team members have gone missing. We've kept close to the beach as we were instructed to, but we'll never complete the mission standing out here, counting sea shells. I'm getting more and more desperate as my team continues to decrease in number. I have about four people left. We're just gonna go in and complete this mission ourselves. The mercenaries we hired have failed. I'm just a scientist, but I have do this. I'll report back once I have the embryos."

The screen went black as he leaned forward and shut the camera off. Cain looked up at a young, beautiful woman sitting across from his desk.

"Are you sure that is the last message from him Dr. Soto?" He asked.

She nodded, "Yes sir. He never responded back according to communications. We tried pinpointing his location using the satellite connection, but we can't get a lock. Equipment might be destroyed."

Cain stared at the lead geneticist in Biosyn, Sanra Soto, angry at this terrible failure.

"First Dodgson, now Forbes," He said bitterly, "That God forsaken island is a death trap."

Biosyn was the top competitor to InGen, but was now at a much better position now that InGen had gone bankrupt. They had been obsessed with gaining the knowledge of bioengineering dinosaurs. They had paid a member of InGen to steal the embryos but he never came though. Later on, Dodgson went to Isla Sorna with a small team to steal eggs and never returned. Very few knew about this, but Cain had discovered it all, including the existance of Site B. Sandra crossed her legs and leaned back into the seat.

"We could send another team..." She suggested.

Cain shook his head, quickly dismissing that idea.

"Absolutely not," He said, "Why even do that? So we could watch them fail? No...the phrase "If you want something done right, then do it yourself" comes to mind. I'm going to the island and you're coming with me."

She quickly sat forward, shocked by what he had just said.

"What!?" She said, "Cain are you out of your mind?"

He stared at her with complete seriousness.

"Dr. Soto," He said, "When InGen was creating dinosaurs...you and the other geneticists were bioengineering...trout. Quite frankly, that is embarassing. We will go to that island Dr...if not for Biosyn or your research...then for our careers. Do you know what will happen if we bring this back to Biosyn?"

She slowly nodded her head, realizing what it would mean for their careers.

"How can we get there without the Costa Ricans going after us?" She asked.

Cain smiled and spun the lap top around to face her. The video was replaced with an image of Benjamin Roth.

"He will get us there," He said, "A month ago, this man put out a call for scientists and others to go with him on a special expedition. When I saw the location of where he was going, I realized it was Isla Sorna...Site B. No one knows what is located there of course, but I do. I know where Dodgson went. It was where I sent Forbes...."

She smiled as she stared into the picture, "And it's where we'll go..."

Chapter 8-Mark Ford

Mark carried the luggage of Benjamin Roth towards the airplane as fast as he could.

"Mr. Roth," He yelled, "If we don't hurry, they'll leave without us."

Roth followed behind Mark, chuckling the entire way and taking his time.

"You really should calm down," He said, "You know...had you agreed for my personal plane to be flown here, we wouldn't have to rush."

Mark dropped the rather heavy luggage in annoyance.

"Yes sir," He said, "But as I already told you, your plane would not be allowed near Isla Sorna. The Costa Rican government isn't allowing any planes there. You have no idea how hard it was to allow this plane to go there...not to mention...we lied about where we are going. This small charter plane will be less noticable. At least...a lot less than that Air Force One wannabe you own."

He handed the luggage to a young German male. With a rather blank expression, he grabbed the luggage and moved to load it. Mark was the booking agent, working for Benjamin Roth. Roth had demanded that he get them passage to Costa Rica by any means. Originally, he was going to take his own private jet, but Mark knew with the Costa Rican air force patrolling, they would never make it to Isla Sorna. He knew two guys that worked in Costa Rica, they had a flying tour for the surrounding islands. It would go unnoticed, but diverting so far towards Isla Sorna took a lot of...under the table money.

"Guten Tag." A voice called out.

Both Mark and Benjamin looked up to see Leon Schneider walk down the steps from the plane.

"Guten Tag mein Freund." Mark replied in German.

He motioned towards Leon while facing Benjamin.

"This is my friend," He said, "Leon Schneider and this is his nephew, Marko Schweitzer. The latter doesn't speak much English..."

Benjamin extended his hand, "G'day ole chap. I'm Benjamin Roth."

Leon took his hand and shook it, "I know who you are herr. I'm honored to fly you to island."

His English was broken, but it was enough to understand. Roth gave a weak smile, barely understanding the German.

"Ah well...smashing," He said, "Now...shall we?"

Leon motioned for Marko to continue taking the luggage.

"Bekommen Sie die Ruhe von ihren Taschen." He ordered in German.

Marko motioned that he was doing it and continued. Mark sighed, wondering if it was such a good idea he came with the others. He didn't normally go on the trips, but he felt responsible for all the passengers. Especially since they were going through illegal means to get to Isla Sorna. Mark looked back out at the landing strip one last time and then boarded the plane...

Chapter 9-Marko Schweitzer

The German born man continued to load the luggage as more and more people came. A car drove up the landing strip and parked right next to the plane. The woman who walked out made him freeze. She was an Asian woman, late twenties by the looks of it. He had not seen any girls that looked like that in Costa Rica.

"Guten Tag schn," He said in German, "Wo sind Sie mein ganzes Leben gewesen?"

The Asian woman, Karen Chang, raised an eyebrow towards him, not understanding what he was saying.

"Beg pardon?" She said.

Marko smiled and replied, "I ask you where you been my while life."

She tossed her luggage towards him, "Real cute. I have some sensive materials in the back of the car. Please deal with it."

She winked in his direction and quickly boarded the plane. Marko watched with a rather sheepish smile and went back to loading. Another car drove up, this time carrying two men. Both got out, wearing sun glasses and wide brimmed hats. They looked at the small charter plane and then at Marko. Both spoke rapidly in English, barely allowing him to keep up.

"Luggage?" He asked.

"Yes," The older man said, "Thanks..."

He handed the luaggage to Marko and spoke to the younger unshaven man.

"What do you think Sean?" He asked.

Sean took off his sunglasses and looked up at the plane.

"It looks decent enough," He said, "This should be fun...no matter what we find...think of it as a vacation boss."

James chuckled and made his way towards the stairs leading into the plane. Marko was oblivious to who all these people were. The only one he wanted to actually get to know was the young woman...

Chapter 10-Dimitri Stukov

Two men, one white and the other black, were sitting next to each other in the charter plane. They had boarded early, even before Roth had gotten there. The white male, Dimitri Stukov, was sipping vodka from a glass. The man sitting next to him was Thomas Bizimungu, his aide from the Roth Zoo, had joined him on this expedition.

"You're lucky I am coming," He said in a thick African accent, "I was going to meet a lady friend this weekend."

Dimitri laughed loudly, "Is that right? Funny...you always seem to meet a lady friend when you're forced to leave somewhere..."

Thomas shot him a mock dirty look and burst out laughing. Dimitri suddenly felt a large bag hit him from behind, causing him to spill his drink. He looked up to see a young man with blonde hair staring down at him with a smirk on his face.

"Oh how clumsy," He mocked, "You better becareful old man..."

Dimitri immediatly stood up with an angry look on his face.

"Listen you piece of-" He said but was cut off.

"Problem gentlemen?" Roth asked, appearing from the cockpit.

Dimitri looked back at his employer and shook his head. He had worked for Roth ever since he was a young man, hunting in Africa. Roth hired him as the game warden, capturing animals of all kinds. He specialized in predators, but there was no prey that could elude the hunter.

"No sir, Mr. Roth." He said.

The cocky looking young man never lost his arrogant smirk.

"Not a problem here," He said, "It seems your friend here is a bit clumsy."

Roth gave the man a fake smile.

"Jake Xavier," He said, "We already know each other. This is Dimitri Stukov and his aide, Thomas Bizimungu."

Jake gave a curt nod, but said nothing else. He walked off to place his belongings on the plane. Dimitri cast a curious look towards Roth. Roth could only shrug and turn away, welcoming people onboard.

"Don't take it personally Dimitri." Thomas said.

Dimitri nodded while wiping the spilled vodka off his shirt.

"Yeah..." He muttered bitterly.

Chapter 11-Benjamin Roth

After witnessing the rather uncomfertable introduction between Dimitri and Jake, Benjamin moved back outside to welcome the others. To his delight, he saw a face that he had been expecting.

"Dr. Hatcher!" He said, "You came. Bloody marvelous."

The paleontologist gave a half smile and shook Roth's hand.

"This is my successor, Sean Hopkins." He introduced.

"Delighted." He said while shaking Sean's hand.

"Sir," Sean said, "I'm a big fan of your parks. I can't say I believed Dr. Hatcher when he said that you had invited us on this...expedition."

Roth laughed, "Most don't believe it. You all won't believe this until you see it with your own eyes..."

He motioned towards the interior of the plane, "Please, go sit. We'll be taking off soon."

James and Sean nodded and moved to board the plane. Roth walked up to Mark, who was carrying a list.

"How many?" Benjamin asked.

Mark looked down at the list, "The two paleontologists are here. Hunter is here. Game warden and his aide...here. You friend..."

"Judi." He finished.

Mark nodded, "Right, the botanist. She's here. The biologist is here. Tech here...arguing with Marko I believe. That nature photographer is-"

"-is here." A voice said.

Mark and Benjamin looked back to see a man approaching with a bag slung over his shoulder.

"Steven Reeves," Benjamin said, "Welcome. I'm glad you could make it."

Reeves smiled, "I'm glad you decided to bring me, but I am confused as to why you think I'll be winning the Pulitzer after this trip."

"Did you bring your camera?" He asked.

Reeves nodded and patted a smaller bag slung on the opposite side.

"I don't leave home without it." He said.

Roth slapped him on the shoulder, "Splendid! Board, we'll be leaving soon."

Reeves nodded and made his way towards the plane. Mark looked back at the list.

"That's everyone," He said, "It looks like your geneticists are no shows."

Roth cast a sad look out towards the empty air strip.

"That is a shame..." He said.

Mark placed a hand on Roth's back.

"C'mon," He said, "We should be leaving..."

Roth hesitated for a moment, then relented and moved towards the plane. He found it strange that neither scientists showed up. They had even offered to pay to be allowed to go on this expedition. They seemed so adament about being allowed to go and now they don't show up?

Chapter 12-Joseph Paine

Jospeh Paine was a calm and brilliant man. It was thanks to him that Roths various parks were even opened. He was the brains behind all the technological wonders that made the parks so famous. While he had infinite patience usually, he found that it was not easy to grasp it at the current moment.

"Damnit," He yelled, "Don't you understand English? I told you that this is sensitive equipment. You can not toss it in the back with the other stuff. You hear me!?"

The young German male looked at him and rolled his eyes.

"Don't roll your eyes at me young man!" He said, "I fought in TWO wars. How many have you fought in?"

"Selling your war stories again Joseph?" Benjamin called out.

Joseph looked up to see his employer heading towards the loading stairs of the plane.

"I need help here sir," He said, "I'm bringing equipment along, but this damn Nazi can't seem to understand me."

Marko squinted his eyes at him, obviously recognizing the word Nazi. He didn't do anything for fear of upsetting the "guests".

Mark chuckled at the comment, "Nazi, Joseph? That's not very politically correct is it?"

Joseph threw his hands up in the air, exasperated.

"I'm an old man," He retorted, "I come from a time where that PC crap didn't even exist. Now can someone help me out here?"

A man standing at the door called out to Marko in German.

"Seien Sie bei der Ausrstung vorsichtig." He ordered.

Marko looked up at his uncle and then slowly nodded.

"Gut, ich werde." He replied.

He gently grabbed the bag and placed it seperatly from the other bags so they would not be hitting each other mid-flight.

"He will be careful with bags." Leon said to Joseph.

Jospeh bowed his head, "That's all I ask."

All four men turned their heads when they heard a horn honking from a far distance.

"What in Heaven's name...?" He asked.

The car pulled up, stopping at a screeching halt. A woman and an older man stepped out of the car.

"Ah a woman driver," Joseph muttered, "That explains the skid marks and speeding..."

With that, he walked off, making his way into the plane to relax.

Chapter 13-Sandra Soto

Sandra and Cain had barely made it, having been caught up with bussiness for Biosyn. No one of course knew they were members of Biosyn. To this little group, they were research geneticists, seeking to gain a connection to the wild life in South America with Humans. The apes in South America was always promising. They played dumb, pertending not to know they would really be seeing live dinosaurs. The only real geneticist there was Sandra herself. She would become one of the leading geneticists on cloning after gaining an embroy or one of the dinosaur eggs herself. She would then surpass Henry Wu, the leading geneticist for InGen. He had been killed by Velicoraptors on Isla Nublar, ironically enough. Benjamin Roth, billionair and owner of the famous parks, approached them with a wide grin on his face.

"I didn't think you two would make it..." He said in an English accent.

Cain motioned for shook the rich man's hand.

"We wouldn't miss it for the world." Cain said.

Two Costa Ricans rushed over and took the keys from Sandra. They unloaded their luggage and moved their car from the runway.

"Shall we go then?" Roth asked.

Cain nodded, "By all means sir..."

He cast a serious look towards Sandra's direction, then went back to hobnobbing with Roth. Mark Ford checked something off on his paper and said something.

"That's everyone," He said, "Lets move out!"

Sandra quickly followed after the others and boarded the plane, ready to finally make their journey begin...

Chapter 14-James Hatcher

James and Sean quickly made their way towards the back of the plane in an effort to avoid the others. That, of course, would be impossible since the small plane wa packed with people. Benjamin had gone around, introducing everyone to the other. After what seemed like forever, things died down, the plane took off, and everyone was sitting and relaxing. James had his hat over his head, trying to get some sleep. They all had to leave so early, that he hadn't gotten much sleep. Sean was sipping on a gin and tonic, obviously wide awake.

"This is fantastic," He said to Hatcher, "You know...you don't seem so excited..."

James pulled the hat and turned his head to face his friend, "Sean...you don't actually believe Roth do you? Dinosaurs? For Christ sakes..."

Sean put the cup down on a table in between the row of seats.

"What...?" He asked, obviously confused, "But...if you don't believe him then why are we going?"

Hatcher cast a bemused look in Sean's direction, "Because his check cleared and we're rich. Not to mention, I haven't gone on vacation since '97. I'm long overdue..."

Sean chuckled and leaned back into the very comfertable leather seat. Steven Reeves was sitting in front of them and overhead some of their conversation. He turned his head to face them as best as he could.

"So...you two are paleontologists?" He asked.

James and Sean looked at each other then back at Steven, nodding their heads in affirmation.

"Yes." They both said at the same time.

"I'm a photographer for a nature magizine," He said, "It's called "The Jungle". Ever heard of it?"

They both shook their heads, honestly having never heard of it. Steven obviously took no offense to it and chuckled.

"Most people haven't," He said, "Everyone will hear about it though. Once I get these pics..."

James cast a dubious look. It was obvioust that Steven believed dinosaurs existed on the island.

"I think it's something Roth likes to do," He continued, "He loves upsetting the balance. That's why I think he chose my magazine over the other famous ones. With this, we'll rise up and have our chance..."

He pointed at James, "Let me guess...you're a rather unpopular paleontologist..."

Sean almost spit up the alchohal he was drinking, stifling laughter. James gave a dirty look to both men.

"No," He said, "I'm actually well respected in my field...thank you very much."

Steven smiled, "Respected today, worshipped by every paleontologist tomorrow."

With that, he turned back to face the front, leaving James to wonder if what was on the island was real...

Chapter 15-Karen Chang

Karen was sitting up front, drinking some coffee to help her stay awake. It had been a long night and rushing to get to the airport did not help matters. She was sitting on the opposite row or Benjamin Roth and Judi Smith. Judi had been the one to recommen Karen for the expedition. She was biologist, working for Roth's company. Her study on animal anatomy was well done if not under appreciated. Judi saw the potential of Karen while working with her in Australia. Karen was rather shy and sat by herself, avoiding having to talk to anyone. She remembered how the rather good looking, young man that was loading the luggage spoke to her. She didn't understand him, but found it flattering indeed.

"Excuse me Dr. Chang?" Roth called out.

She turned her head, "Yes Mr. Roth?"

"Dr," He said, "I'm glad you were able to make it. I apologize for making you miss your flight to Canada, but I thought you would enjoy this much more."

She smiled, "It is alright sir."

"You can call me Roth." He said.

Judi gave a playful nudge in Roth's stomach, "Don't let the old man fool you. He may seem tough, but he is like a small, FAT bear."

Roth laughed, "Please Judi! Not in front of the hunters!"

Karen laughed a little, for the first time on this trip in fact. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad...

Chapter 16-Jake Xavier

Jake was sitting behind Cain Frost and Sandra Soto. He had noticed Sandra's striking beauty and wanted a chance to speak wit her.

"I wonder if the old man is her father..." He thought to himself.

He unbuckled his belt and leaned forward, tapping her on the shoulder.

"Hey baby," He said, "You know...I'm a very dangerous man..."

Sandra looked at him, completely baffeled about his rather random comment. She seemed shock that, that was actually a pick up line.

"The only thing dangerous is that aftershave you're wearing..." She muttered.

Jake heard boisterious laughted coming from the row opposite of his. Dimitri and Thomas was staring at him, laughing loudly.

"Nice try boy," Dimitri said, "Looks like you'll be spending tonight alone."

The young hunter muttered under his breath and leaned back in his seat. The beginning of this trip was not going so well for him. He hated Dimitri, immediatly recognizing him when he first saw him on the plane. The man had formely been a world reknowned hunted, just like Jake. It took years for him to catch up to Dimitris level, but it meant nothing. Dimitri was never "beaten", because he had retired from hunting and had become a game warden for Roth Parks. Jake bitterly continued hunting, waiting for a moment to surpass him. When Roth approached him, he was unsure of why he was being invited. Apparently, it was more of a security measure, rather than allowing Xavier to hunt one of the large animals. Roth said that rare and massive animals were on this island and would make Xavier the celebrity he always wanted to be. He didn't care what Roth said...he was going to kill one of the animals...

Chapter 17-Cain Frost

Cain had his laptop open, typing away on the keys, making notes on their journey so far and the occupants of the plane. He smirked at Sandra over what had just happened with Xavier.

"It seems you have the fan club my dear..." He joked.

She sighed, "Nothing I'm not used to...Dr."

He didn't respond to her and went back to the laptop.

"This will begin our...journal..." He whispered.

She looked back at him, "What? Are we going to be sending updates to our...team back in the States?"

Cain shook his head, "No, I'd rather not. I just want to use it in the report when we...bring back the...wonderful data we get."

Chapter 18-Sean Hopkins

The plane had been flying for some time. Sean wasnt sure how much time though, but knew that over an hour had passed. James had been sleeping the entire trip, exhausted after typing up a thesis on the possible eating habits of the Apatosaurus. Definitely not the most stimulating of papers, but work was work. Sean heard the captain of the flight speak over the intercom.

Captain Schneider speaking, He said in a thick German accent, We are approaching island.

Sean sat up in his seat and nudged the sleeping paleontologist with his elbow.

Wake up boss, He said, Were finally approaching the island

Hatcher sat up while simultaneously rubbing his eyes to wake himself up. Being next to the window, he had a great view of the island they were approaching. It looked breathtaking from this view. Sean leaned over his shoulder and stared out into it.

You think Godzilla is waiting for us in there? He joked.

Hatcher smiled, Either him or King Kong

Or both. Steven joked, having heard them.

As the plane flew over the island, everyone stared out their windows, trying to catch a glimpse. Unfortunately, they flew so high that it was hard to discern the moving creatures below. Not to mention the trees covering everything. Soonthey would see it up close

Chapter 19-Marko Schweitzer

Marko, serving as co-pilot, monitored the planes instruments to ensure that everything was ok. So far, everything looked good as they made their way towards the nearest landing strip. He slapped Leon, his uncle, on the arm. In German, he told him that a landing strip was ahead and asked if they should land there. Leon quickly nodded and prepared to extract the landing gear. A warning siren rang out. Marko turned his head to check and noticed the same problem theyve been having the past week. The planes landing gear was always getting jammed. He sighed and brought it to his uncles attention. Leon noticed it and worked to fix it before any of the guests could notice there was trouble. He forced the landing gear to extract once more. They both heard a rather loud grumble from within the plane. Both men immediately looked back to see if the passengers were panicking. No one seemed to notice or they thought it was normal. Either way, they would need to fix the landing gear issue.

Ich reparierte das Problem, aber sage nichts, Leon said to Marko, Wir wnschen nicht, die Gste zu beunruhigen.

Loosely translated, he told Marko the problem was fixed and not to tell the others. Marko nodded his head in agreement. Leon quickly began their descent towards the landing strip

Chapter 20-Benjamin Roth

Roth felt the plane land rather roughly, much more then he was used to on his own private jet. It didnt matter though; they had made it to the island. The $800,000 he had spent for this trip was about to pay off. The plane slowly drove down the runway, finally stopping at some undisclosed location. Roth looked out the window and saw they had landed right where he wanted them too. A river that led to the ocean was nearby. A fisherman he paid off to bring him certainsupplies would meet them there. Everything was going so well

Well, He said loudly, It seems weve landed

The German captain announced what Roth had pretty much just said. Marko stepped out of the cockpit and opened the door, lowering the ramp for everyone to disembark. He walked down the steps before anyone else, probably at the behest of his uncle. Roth helped Judi from her seat and led her down the steps, shielding his eyes from the bright sun overhead.

Bloody hell, He said, Bright herebut not as bad as Africa or India.

Judi chuckled and motioned to the sunglasses on her face.

I came prepared. She said.

He stepped off the last step, Indeed you did love.

Benjamin looked around the rather barren air strip. An abandoned jeep and a small shed were sitting there, covered in vines and muck. The shed looked like it was some kind of check pointat leastit was. The trees looked beautiful but there was certainly something haunting about the deserted Human controlled area. Dimitri stepped off the plane and immediately Benjamin pulled him aside.

Dimitri, He said, I dont want to alarm the others, but I wonder if you couldestablish a perimeterdiscreetly.

Dimitri looked around in a paranoid fashion, picking up the feeling of death in the air. He nodded his head.

Of course, Mr. Roth. He said.

Benjamin gave a thankful nod to his game warden and then watched as the others began to disembark. He was well aware of the dangers of the island. Benjamin had been an associate of John Hammond in the past. Hammond had made Benjamin privy to some of what InGen was doing. At first, he hadnt believed it, until Hammond had shown him a video recording of what it was they were doing in those labs and actual footage of one of the small creatures, a Compy. Hammond had planned on bringing Benjamin and several other rich conservationists into his cash cow project. The owner of InGen was a corrupt and bitter old man that suffered from a large ego. Benjamin promised himself he would never allow that to happen to him and his parks. Five years after the Isla Nublar incident, Benjamin investigated Hammonds sudden disappearance. He wondered why it was that Hammond had never contacted him again. The old man claimed that soon the park would open and the others could invest. Strangely, that never came to pass and the park was never heard of by anyone. He investigated dozens of people and companies, even investigating the top competing company of InGen, Biosyn. Everything and everyone was a dead end. He even visited Hammonds grand children themselves and discovered an interesting piece of the puzzle. They said they couldnt talk about what happened, but they mentioned being in Costa Rica. Benjamin quickly made his way there and tried to find someone he could talk to about the islands Hammond had intended to use for the park. All of them were right next to Costa Rica. He finally found a rather corrupt official in the military that told Benjamin about what had happened on Isla Nublar. After being pain a hefty amount of money, of course. The park had been annihilated by the Costa Rican Air Force, but rumors that some of the animals survived and were on the mainland were abound. That was all the information Benjamin need to piece together what had happened. The park was a failure and something terrible happened there. Hammond probably didnt disappear, but died on Isla Nublar. He already knew about Isla Sorna, thanks to Hammond conveying that the island was used for the actual creation of the animals. Benjamin was the only person that knew about it, he assumed. For a long time, he assumed the park would be opened there. Isla Nublar was a surprise to him. After piecing everything together, he decided to make an excursion onto the island to see if it was all true and if money could be made on this island. In the endhe was a business man.

Dr. Hatcher! He said, watching the man disembark the plane, Welcome to Isla Sorna.

With a boisterous laugh, he looked back towards the jungle and knewhis fate would be decided there.

Summary So Far

On Isla Sorna, a figure steals items for a shadowy benefactor who remains unknown for some time. He is alone, presumably a survivor of a mission gone wrong. The figure flees into the jungle, hoping to catch the boat before it leaves. He finds himself being hunted by an animal. His screams only help the creature track him, until finally, it finds him and strikes. The bag he carries is now sitting in the jungle...forgotten...

Several months later, James Hatcher speaks at a university, discussing the theories on Dinosaur extinction. It is there that he meets Benjamin Roth, owner of Roth Parks. Roth takes Dr. Hatcher out to lunch and offers him a proposition that could change his career and even his life. Hatcher is left to contemplate it...

Jake Xavier sat in a jungle in Africa, hunting a silverback Gorilla. The beasts were worth a lot of money at the right sources. He was forced to kill both the silverback and it's mate, proving his skills. Roth had contacted him to come along, more as security. His fame was world wide that no predator could beat him. Little did Roth know, Xavier planned on taking a trophy from the island...

Meanwhile, two members of Biosyn discuss the constant failures their company continued to face. They decide to take it upon themselves to complete the mission. Posing as geneticists, they sneak their way into Roth's expidition to Isla Sorna. There...they will complete their mission...once and for all...

The expedition has assembeled and landed on Isla Sorna. Now, they will find themselves thrown back in time, in an age when dinosaurs ruled the earth...not man kind...
