Frailty

A strange wind blew that cold January night. A woman slowly walked down a corridor as flashes of lightning filled the paintings on the wall, followed by rumbles of thunder. Her outfit waved in the oppressing wind the mansion gave off. Her long, black hair swung from side to side giving a small glimpse of her soft face. Small candles mounted on the wall gave off a simple, warm glow, and the huge drapes moderately swayed in the wind.

She met the main stair case and began to walk her way down. The corner of her eyes caught the sight of three gentlemen, but she resisted making direct eye contact with them. She reached the bottom of the steps that lead into the great hall.

“Welcome, negotiator.” She greeted them with a vigorous smile as she walked over to them. “Why have you disturbed me?” She raised her right eyebrow as the lightning filled her eye. The man standing in the middle of the three stood forward, swallowing. He was a frail looking man. One who was afraid. The woman always used that to her advantage.

“The proprietor desires more then what you are giving, mistress. We’ve come to collect.” The man stood back pulling out a blade that had been holstered to his side while the other two who accompanied him drew guns.

“You’re a fool.” She said, angrily, quickly kicking the knife out of the man’s hand. She took out two blades holstered on her side, throwing them towards the two armed men. They tossed in the air hitting both men in the chest. They made a sound of pain, before dropping to the floor. The man began to run towards the doors, but collapsed because of a sharp pain in his leg. He yelled out in pain as the woman knelt down to him, pulling a knife she threw at his leg out. She put the man’s knife back into his holster.

“Tell you’re master his profits will not increase.. It is not something to discuss.” She stood up, waving her hand towards the doors as they slowly opened. The man quickly limped out as the doors closed behind him.

“That went well.” A man’s voice echoed through the hall. This man was working for the woman as her butler. His clothing, and also his walk, hinted this very strongly. His accent was of British as most are in England.

“Tony, take care of the bodies,” she walked passed him.

Very good. It really made an impact when she took out the bad guys (if bad guys, they are). It came as quite a surprise. Please continue if you have the time and inclination.
