Galactic Wars .

Its an idea for an RPG I have been considering.

The Earth is at war, The year is 2086. The evil Harlacks have launched an attack on Earth, They may have superior weapons but we far outnumber them plus we are more skilled with out weapons.

You take the roll of a marine in the war who helps fight for Earths freedom.

What do you think from that brief description.

It's a cool idea, but I think it should expand even further, out into space. Not deep into space, but have space ships, space battles, etc, and me as the Space Fleet Admiral and you as the Marine General.

No, seriously, if you added it into including space and what have you, and not being solely land and marines, I would be willing to not only join, but help you make it, into detail and make it all nice-looking, like all the RPGs that I make.

And, out of the goodness of my heart, since Harlacks sounds cheesy, you can use my Naotorian species, which is a much cooler, more interesting and original name.

No, seriously, I'd definitely be willing to help you make this RPG, providing that you expand it beyond merely Marines, and others are interested.

Cool, I've been busy the last couple of days so sorry for my late reply but great.
Horlacks is a lame name but I couldn't think of anything else. As for space battles I like the idea, Maybe they come from another solar system not far from ours.

Naotarian is a cool name, I would also love your help. God knows with all of my work lately I'd be hard pressed to do it all by myself. I've made a quick outline of what the plot could be it is open to discussion and hopefully it will get more people interested in this topic, If enough people get interested then I will deffinatly make this RPG, However if its just gonna be a flop then I won't make it.

Story :

In the year 2058 Garth Render launched the first vessel to leave and re-enter our solar sytem in under 2 days. The vessel (Hiroshima) got alot of attention from a race known as the Naotarians although their vessels are bulky and slow they are a supposed 'super power' in our galaxy, They sent a small vessel to greet the human race. The people of Earth greeted them with open hearts and open arms.
Unfortuanatly the Naotorians had a different agenda they were evaulating our planet. They wanted to colonise Earth, Mars and the moon and create a new mining colony, Earth began a huge mass production process on the new space crafts and equiped them with the latest weapons.
The Naotorians were only a few years ahead of Earth technologically, There species though has billions of life forms, Computer estimates and scans taken suggest somewhere between 12 - 20 billion Naotorians marines, Naotorian marines are poorly trained but their numbers are large and they use that to their advantage. Prefering to send in several hundred million against only a few million they use their numbers to their advantage.
Earth having a few hundred million highly trained marines is greatly outnumbered in men even if they are better soldiers, So they focused their tactics on space. Hundreds of colossal ships stand in Earths solar system ready to defend from Naotorian attacks,
This isn't a war for land, This isn't a war for greed, This is a war for survival.

Hmmm...I have some suggested adjustments that play on what you have there, which could also work in some of my ideas for something else, from which my Naotorian idea comes...Let's see...

Quote:
It is the year 2062. It is a mere four years after explorer Garth Rendar, Captain of the Star Voyager, the first interstellar space ship of Earth to go on a long-distance inter-galactic exploration mission, returned from his interstellar flight outside the Sol System. During his 100-member crew's one-month mission, the Star Voyager, named such for what the name implies, made first contact with three different unique species: the Kaegon, a weak but hostile race; the Sygonians, a peaceful race that could eventually become possible allies; and the Naotorians, a more powerful race than Earth bent on violent conquest--although this the crew did not know.
The Naotorians took great interest in the human explorers, and were realized to be, by the Star Voyager the "superpower" of the Sagittarius arm of the galaxy, despite the fact that their ships were bulky and rather slow.
Two weeks later the Naotorians sent an envoy of one single, solitary, small starship to Earth to greet the humans. They were welcomed with open hearts and open minds.
And yet the agenda of the Naotorians was not peace, but rather an evaluation of the planet, Earth. Their goal was to conquer Earth, and to colonize the planet's moon, and Mars, creating two new mining colonies.
At this time Earth began a huge mass production of not only increasing their starfighter numbers but constructing a far larger fleet of starships, all equipped with the latest in weapons technology, developed both by the humans and their new trading partner, the Sygonians.
The Naotorian empire contained billions upon billions of citizens, with as many as 12 billion marines and fleet officers. Though their numbers may be high, their training does not show much. They are poorly trained--yet that aside, their numbers are utilized as a key strength. While Earth was not too far behind them technologically, they did pose a unique threat, realized in 2060.

Now the Naotorians have threatened war upon Earth, unless it surrenders and gives up its sovereignty and liberty to the Empire.
The humans, however, having achieved recent world-wide freedom and unity, of course, refused originally. They are now making preparations for war, training their marines significantly--far better than the Naotorians, dedicating a rather large region for marine training--training their fighter pilots well, and preparing ship crew officers for the new massive fleet of colossal--as well as small, yet powerful--starships being created to defend the Solar System.
Victory is not in sight, but the nature of humanity will not be defeated. It is a war for survival. Humanity will fight to the very last inch.
The survival of humanity now depends on the Earth Marine Corps and Earth Space Fleet. The planet cannot be defeated. The costs are too great. The system cannot fall into the hands of those that would wish to do great harm to the human race.

What say you?

And I do have another RPG idea, dealing with something along those lines. It would basically follow the Star Voyager on exploration missions and stuff, involve conflicts and different things like that, and could perhaps involve a later war with the Naotorians, of which the ship is in and we follow it through its missions in the war. It's basically an idea, the exploration stuff and all, that I've had for a while. We could include SW, ST, and made-up species all around. It would be cool. I might actually look for a catalyst for such an RPG...I do like this one, mind you, but that's another idea and something else I would like to do, at least basically.

Man I love that idea it sounds so cool, I was thinking for the ships were more along the lines of Sw/Battlestar galactica so it could work nicely if we slide some ST technology in there.
I also really like the idea of having a RPG which is linked to this one, The communications between the two topics would be great in the way that it would actually be another topic AND another plot and a real charactor explaining it all except one person playing the communicator, In other words I like the idea.
First of all though we need to get people interested so I'll start a poll in this topic.
BTW a site you might like is www.swcombine.com .

I've given the poll a 28 length and I haven't put the option 'Haven't decided yet' because it is in my opinion a pointless option. If you haven't decided yet just post in here why you haven't decided and what you think needs added or taken away.

Well, I wasn't thinking it quite like that--we'd have to change the summary around a bit, then--but that would be cool, providing that we could have a catalyst for it.
Maybe we could even simply start a forum for it--the adventures of an exploration starship and a war going on at the same time or something like that. But what I was thinking more with that is that other idea is that it would be more different from the war and include much that isn't, including pre-war, during war (and not just in the war), and post-war stuff.
But yeah, something could be worked out.

I could start a forum and there could be a section for :

Before the war
During the war
After the war
Not much to do with the war at all

I think a forum would be better than STV because we would have more room to manouvere but we could do things all in order and start,

1.) Before the war
2.) During the war + Not much to do with the war
3.) After the war + Not much to do with the war

I personally like your ideas .

Thanks. However, there's one thing. It would get too confusing to do a before, during, and after the war forum, and would leave less room for expansion, etc. If anything it should be sequential.
Perhaps we start out with simply having the Star Voyager's original mission, and then once we get to the war have a forum for the ship's exploits and then the rest of the parts of the war. Once the war is over, we switch back to only having the ship.
How does that sound?
Oh, and I think you should wait on starting the site...As a matter of fact, I would like to actually do that, if you don't mind, with you. I could perhaps even start the forum in whole as well, and have you join and add you in as an admin.

Great. And I can start it. I'll PM you a link (so that things can be prepared beforehand) to the forum once I have it started.

I'm starting the forum in a bit...I think it'd be best and far more organized if, at least in the beginning, all we had was the Star Voyager and Star Voyager crew.
I can change things if you want, but I would like to be the Captain (especially considering the fact that I've been/am a Captain in several popular RPGs and have been credited as a good RP'er ) and the fleet's admiral (whom will make a few appearances, and change the name to James Azzar. If that's alright with you, of course--it was your idea. I can always change some things around...I have some good ideas for the voyages, too.
Anyways, I'm gonna call the RPG The Space Revolution. I can always start a new site if you don't think that appropriate, but the reason that I choose that is how, throughout history, we've gone through several agricultural revolutions, the industrial revolution, etc. I think that this new space revolution fits with that, and therefore think the name appropriate.
I'll PM you the link, though, so we can get things set up before recruiting members...[/i]

Actually, now that I think of it, perhaps it'd actually be better if we just started an RPG he for the Star Voyager and yet have a non-forum site (free, which I just got) for it, and have the adventures of the starship there and eventually, once we get to the war, carry it over.
There's just no huge reason to start a forum for one individual forum...

Here's an idea for the Star Voyager and the rest of the Exploration line/class of ships.

I also think we should develop a warship kind of starship as well, for once the war starts--but a logical ship at that.
Again, I'm really thinking that having it here would be better.

If were going to work with one vessel and its journey through time and all of these events and everything then I must admit here is probably better than starting a new forum.
But the warships I was thinking about were very similar to the ones Quake four and alot like Star Destroyers.

Maybe. Thing is, it might be a bit illogical, but yeah, perhaps. I'll look up some other ideas for warships as well. I think the Naotorian ships as Star Destroyers might be a good idea, but probably not Earth warships.
I'm liking the Battlestar Galactica ships for the Earth ship, like that Star Voyager and this ship. I think the latter might be cool for the Earth warships, or some kind of variation.
The Naotorians, though, on the other hand, could get certain SW ships, though--that is, the Star Destroyers. And other aliens as well could get ships from a variety of series. There are so many things we could do in this RPG because it's its own thing--not a Trek, SW, or whatever RPG, but something created by us.
And what I'll do is, if you don't mind, come up with suggestions for parts of the ship, ship positions, ship systems, etc. ASAP--different, yet similar, to Trek. And some other key info as well.

Yeah...since it's so different, if you could (since you were the starter of the topic) lock it, that would be great. I might have a catalyst for the RPG, and we'll start a new topic then, when everything's set in motion and able to really get cracking.
Thanks for the suggestions, though! (I'll use 'em!)
