PostWed Jul 12, 2006 8:29 am    Tim Russ, Vulcan or Human...

I'm sat watching "Star Trek Generations" and Tim Russ is on the first enterprise, but, not as a vulcan. He is human. I don't understand why he is human, i mean someone can't change from human to vulcan. Is it me or do you think they should have used someone different in this film or in voyager, becuase to me it makes no sense, or do you think they should of had him as vulcan in this film before he dropped out of Starfleet. Its just another way to get at you (i'm not dissing it, i mean its really good but its just the little things sometimes). Did anyone else notice it or have any thoughts about that?

The answer is here, my friend. http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Park/1964/Voyagermysteries.html

Read under "Tuvok in TNG and DS9 Episodes".

Err.... Generations was made a while before Voyager lol. He was simply an extra they used, and they liked him?... It was never intended to be the same character. Look at Jeffery Combs, the man has played an Andorian, Ferengi, Vorta, and several other species.

It was never intended to be the same character but why not imagine that it is Tuvok. It's much funnier that way!

It wasn't "Tuvok" on the Enterprise-B. He was just what Lord Borg said, an extra.

He also appeared a couple of times in TNG. So it's just an actor playing a part...

No...it's not... Because Tuvok was on the Excelsior under the command of Captain Sulu before he dropped out of Starfleet. Not on the Enterprise-B...

Are you absolutely sure that he dind't make a short stint with the Enterprise? It has never been stated that he didn't.

I still think that my idea is more funny.

Just like some other of my explanations here.http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Park/1964/Voyagermysteries.html

Actors get used more than once. The guy who played Tom Paris was in an episode of TNG. He was the captain of the flying club that wesley was in and he wasn't caled Tom Paris.

Yeah, I'm sure that he wasn't on the Enterprise-B, because at the same time, Tuvok was on Sulus ship, Voy said this...

You can think your Idea is funny if you want to, that's your opinion, but the fact is, It wasn't the same character, like Madlilnerd pointed out (Though, the only reason it was the same name was royalties...)

According to Memory Alpha, they aren't the same person. It's just a Human that happens to look a lot like Tuvok...

OK, then it was Tuvok's evil twin brother Devor, the one who fought with Picard in "Starship Mine". Maybe he did serve on the Enterprise in his younger days before he became criminal.

While they look identical, they don't sound the same and are not the same.

Maybe he has changed them for some reason.

Come on people, where's your imagination? A Tuvok twin brother could be a good story!

Nicholas LoCarno - Wesley's squadron leader in "The Fisrt Duty" where they were trying to cover-up a training flight accident that resulted in the death of one of their team

- When I saw that episode recently I couldn't believe how young McNeil looked. Its only three years before Voyager began.

Actually, it was in Generations...I know this from pure memory, but as a back up for those who are skeptical of my memory, I just watched the movie a few days ago. He was NOT a Vulcan, and the movie definitely WAS "Generations."

As for Nicholas Locarno, that's why Tom Paris' background was very similar to that of Locarno. The Producers of Voyager wanted Paris to actually be Locarno. But due to certain copyrights and such, they couldn't use Locarno, so they created Tom Paris with a VERY SIMILAR background to that of Locarno...
