|
If there's another topic that includes all of this already, please lock this. But I was just curious. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grow up? What job do you have now? Is it that dream? If you're not at that point yet, what do you want to be now when you grow up? I look forward to all of your answers.
Me:
When I was 4 and 5 I wanted to either be an Astronaut or--get this--work at McDonalds.
When I was 7 I decided that I wanted to own a business, and I've wanted to since (although the name and products/services ahve changed). However, last year I decided that I would eventually like to go into politics.
I'm working on starting a business now and am trying to convince my parents to let me try to get a weekly radio show on one of our local Denver stations, if they'll go for it, which I don't know. I think those would be cool.
But basically, what I now think I want to be "when I grow up" is a business owner and a radio talk show host, as well as eventually go into politics and run for Senate and, ultimately, the Presidency, getting my MBA (majoring in business) and majoring in political science and either majoring or minoring in broadcasting.
Now, what say you?

When i was growing up i always wanted too be a VideoGames tester..... But i later found out that doesn't really exist. Perhaps a Bug-Fixer or computer programmer. But for the first you need long hours behind the comp solving problems in games, not getting much paid. And for the second you need a high diploma and a certain godlike determination.
So i'll stick with something simple, Like internal Logistics at a Nursery home. just delivering packages around the Home all day, Bringing food carts and drinks too the sections, bring around medication and taking away the garbage and dirty laundry.
Yeah, that a lot better

When I was little, I wanted to be Captain Janeway lol...I wanted to command a starship.
That, or be a teacher-I wanted to make a difference...I still do!
I'd still like to be a teacher..I'd teach French...or English. But not both at the same time.
My major is Linguistics so...languages have always been my thing-ALWAYS.

I wanted to be a foot masseur. Still do.
When I was about 6, I thought about one of the forces, the Police or the Fire Service. I think a lot of people think about that.
When I was about 9 or 10, I thought about becoming a rock singer.

When I grow up, I'm going to change the world. Not in a huge, noticeable way--you probably won't know who I am, or if you here my name, you won't recognise why you know it. But change the world I shall, even if it is just in small, miniscule quantities.
I will mould the minds of the next generation. As a teacher of English, I will encourage kids to lift their minds from mundane matters and at least reach out to the glimmering questions that, at one point or another, we all wish we could solve. And I will teach math as an indulgence, because I love math, and I think that a teacher who loves their subject is better than one who really doesn't want to be there, because the attitude of the latter can put a damper on the mood of an entire semester.
I will write books. Good books. Maybe they won't be published; maybe they will be published. Yet with each passing day, I find it increasingly obvious that I am a writer, and that even if I tried, I would not be able to stop. I enjoy my literacy, so when I grow up, I plan to be a drug pusher--I'll supply that addictive substance called "literature," in the hopes that maybe, one day, someone will be changed by my books the way I was changed by the books of my predecessors.
Or maybe the Earth will be destroyed by Vogons. In that case, I will know where my towel is.

And I will join arms with thee and fight the good fight against the evils of illiteracy and ignorance! Hooray for English and language, the heros and good-deed-doers that battle against never-ending adversity! What greater joy comes with the satisfaction of knowing that one has opened the minds of the sheltered and under-priveliged, spreading the wings of youth and bestowing life upon the dead souls of thousands of struggling writers?

Well I used to want to be a tornado chaser when I grew up, but that has faded off. Now I want to be some kind of engineer...nuclear and aerospace especially interest me. Also, quantum physics looks very cool. But yeah, I just want to have a good life. Most of all though, I just want to find a person that I love, and that loves me that I can settle down with. I want to grow up to be someone that everyone can respect and look up to, and when they think of me will do so in a good way. I guess that's about it.

Well, I'd like to be somehow involved in the subject of history. Right now I'm leaning toward teaching it (on a high school level), but that may change as I see what courses will be available to me when I go to college.

When I was little I wanted to be a doctor. Then I got more into cars and now I want to be a professional automotive technician (i.e. a mechanic). I plan on going to college and get a business degree, then I'll go for my certification, save up my money, and I hope to one day be able to open a shop.

I have wanted to be a lawyer since grade 3 and Im still heading in that directions! Money doesn't buy happiness? Pfft. We'll see who's happy when I'm retired at 45 with my big ass mansion with 6 cars while you're all working everyday until 67 stressed out about what your pension is going to be like.
Oh, my dream job would be to play in the NHL. If I ever had the chance I'd take that over anything! But that won't happen. I'm not good enough. I started playing hockey waaaaaaaaaay too late in my life for that.

Geez... when I was a kid, it's easier to think of things I didn't want to be:
Gas station attendant
Janitor
Teacher.
Now my job is Assistant Manager in Training at a gas station, and I have to train people, and I do most of the clean up, and have no idea what I want to be when I finish growing up...
...hmmm....

When I was younger I never stayed interested in a certain job for more than a few days. Although now its looking like an MBA/MD. Quantum mechanics are fairly interesting, too.
