Chapter One

The dark hallways, thats what there was. There was nothing but the dark hallways, with the orange/red hue thats seen on Vulcan design. It was quite. Too quite, the weak light shined through the ceiling grates, shining on the dirty, old grimy walls. There was a pattern of shadows where the light was blocked by the metals of the ceiling grates. Where the light shined though, was the holes in the ceiling. They dimly lit up the walls and floors. They were old, dirty. They showed visible signs of age, and miss care over the years. The halls were empty, empty of life, empty of the sound so chains on the slaves. The cramped hallways had no traffic going though them, no sound, nothing. Then a blast from a phase rifle hit the wall, the sparks flew, the energy bore at the wall, scorching the orange/red hue. Then there was shouting, people running back, firing their weapons at something that was not yet clear. The people running were Terran officers. The attackers were rebels, slaves who had escaped custody, and were now attacking the repressive representatives of the evil Terran Empire. The Terran officers were falling back, further and further, as the rebels were driving them back. The Terran officers were firing at anything they saw move as they fell back. A swarm of weapons fire came around them, occasionally hitting them, killing them. The Vulcans, the attackers, moved in closer, their numbers increasingly becoming higher then the number of the Terran overseers. The Terran officers were hitting and killing the Vulcans too, the chaos was so chaotic, that the weapons fire would mostly miss the intended targets, and hit the walls, the floors, the ceilings. The Terrans went further back. Back, back, back they go, towards a door, a sealed door, that one of the officers run towards, and begin to work on the security seal. The leader was still firing on the Vulcan rebels, along with other officers. Their numbers were diminishing, faster then the Vulcans numbers were, as the Vulcans had a large number of supports, while the Terran officers numbers were small. The panel on the wall made a beep, and the door opened. Officers pored in, with the leader following last. The leaders hand slammed on the panel, and the door sealed shut, separating the rebels and the Terran officers. The leader, one captain Tristin Bishop, stood there, momentarily, staring at the now sealed door. He started to speak, his voice rumbled though the room.

How the hell did those Vulcans get a hold of all those weapons and get in here?

Bishop turned to face the officers that were still alive, they were exchanging nervous glances. Bishop walked towards the center of the room, where there was a table, with an over head light shining directly on it. Bishop stopped at the table. He let out a sigh.

Security of this facility is insolent. Who was on supervising the watch at the time, and where is the security chief?

Two men stepped forward, with uneasy looks on their faces. Before anyone could react, bishop raised his weapon and fired at each man, dead on center mass.

I relieve both of you of your positions.

Bishop looked around the room. He could hear noises on the other side of the room. The Rebels were trying to get in most likely. Bishop stopped at a man with a rank Lieutenant commander on his uniform.

Do you know what happened? Bishops voice rang.

The officer was nervous, not sure how to respond. Any answer he gives will probably lead to his death.

I I was off duty at the time sir, in my quarters. They dont have a view of the outside.

Bishop stared at the young man for a moment, the shrugged.

Seems reasonable enough, nothing you could do eh?

The young Lieutenant commander swallowed. He spoke again.

I heard some commotion, I investigated, and everything seemed fine. That is until the attack started.

Bishop simply continued to look at the man. Not sure weather to trust him or not. He needed all the help he could get, so he decided to hold off any further Executions. Bishop stepped back to the table.

No one has answered my question. How were the dammed Vulcans able to get weapons? Not only that, but attack this prison.

No one seemed to be in a rush to speak up. They truly may not know. Most of the lower ranks rooms were shared bunks, which were more in the center of the facility. Bishop started to walk to one end of the table.

Its bad enough I got to look at these Vulcan filth, and live in one of the structures they built, but now, I am surrounded by a bunch in incompetent officers, while Vulcan rebels work to kill us all.

Tristin stopped at the end of the table. He was easily 6 feet tall, with short military style jet black hair, with a goatee that was just as black on his face. He had on a Uniform Pants, and a Black T shirt, as he had settled in for the evening, and had taken the Uniform jacket off. His large arms and chest seemed to stretch the shirt, which the back color of the fabric seemed to magnify his muscles. Bishop could no longer stand the silence.

Is the subspace receiver working? Can we send out a communication to Starfleet command?

Tristen gazed the room. A voice spoke.
If the Vulcans arent jamming the signals, we should be able to.

Bishop looked at the voices. It was a tiny ensign. He had a hand phase pistol in his hands. He was near the communications array; Bishop recalled that he was the facilitys chief communications officer. Bishop walked over to the tiny, frail looking man. Bishop looked into his eyes.

Well? Why havent you sent a signal yet?

The man just averted his eyes, and then replied.

Well sir, I wasnt sure if you wanted to call Starfleet or see if there was a ship near by.

Bishop realized the man had a point. It would be better, to call a ship that is nearby, then to send a signal all the way to earth. Bishop motioned for the man to get to work, who did so, after an empire salute to Bishop. Bishop turned back to face the other officers. The noises continued outside as the Vulcan rebels searched for a way into the sealed room. He looked at the remaining officers. There wasnt many, thanks to the attack, that, and there wasnt a lot at the prison anyways. There werent a lot of officers in this area on the planet, as most of Vulcan was now prisons and encampments, all grouped into patches. Their best bet, would be a near by empire ship, one that had troops on it. Though, there may be some troops on the planet that could help. Who knows? Bishop sure didnt. The young ensign spoke up. Bishop turned to face him.

I was able to get a hold of the Renegade they are five minutes away, and will relay our message to any other near by terran ship or station. Our signal is now jammed.

Bishop nodded, and then turned to the other officers.

We will probably have to fight again. With, or with out anyones help.

The officers seemed to not like the words, then, they in unison, straitened up, and readied their weapons. Bishop walked over to the panel, and stood ready. Any moment now there should be Terran Officers coming up from behind the rebels. Hopefully, they will lay waste to them, although Bishop also hoped there would be a couple left for him to play with. Making a Vulcan scream was hard work, but when the Vulcan caved in, and screamed it was a great joy to watch and cause. Bishop smiled at the thought. Bishop must have been lost in thought for several minutes, because suddenly, there was weapons fire and yelling on the other side of the door. The officers that were in the room with him all took places in locations to fire at what ever came in the door, and Bishop was about to open it, when he but his phase rifle away, it now slung at his side where he reached for his knife.

Oh how sweet this will be. Bishop thought.

Bishop tapped the wall panel and almost immediately as the door opened, a Vulcan backed into the room firing at the officers that were coming the other way. At the last second, he had realized what he had done, but it was too late, Bishop had grabbed the Vulcan, and pulled him back. The Vulcan tried to react, but Bishop had already taken his knife, and stabbed the Vulcan in the throat. Bishop winced as the green blood came out all over his hands. The shooting had stopped, and Bishop realized the Vulcans were lying dead on the floor.

Someone get me something to wipe thisfilthof my hands.

Bishop looked at his hands with disgust. The green Vulcan blood covered his hands. An officer grabbed a piece of cloth that was on a Vulcan. Bishop was repulsed by the offer, but the Vulcan blood disgusted him even more. Bishop sighed as he wiped the blood away, some smearing at first, but eventually he got it all off. An officer came in from the hallway.

The Captain of the Renegade wishes to see you.

Bishop nodded and stepped out into the hallway. The walls were filled with scorch marks from the phase fire, and the floor was littered with the bodies of the Vulcan rebels. Bishop saw some bodies of Empire solders to, it was almost sad to see them. But they died due to their incompetence. Bishop heard the man talk in a communicator, then felt the familiar sensation of beaming as the world dissolved around him.

Chapter Two

The water drops still clung to the window from the rain that was off and on. It was mid afternoon; the skies were dark grey with the cloud coverage. Outside, there was wet. Everywhere was wet. It looked depressing outside. Hoshi Sato, Empress of the Empire stood at the floor to ceiling window staring out at the bleak and depressing looking landscape. Movement caught her eye, and upon investigation, realized that it was a cadet training exercise. A drill sergeant, one who looked as mean as he seemed to be from the window, was yelling and screaming at the cadets as he had them on marching and saluting drills. The drill sergeant was currently at a cadet, who seemed slow, yelling, directly in his ear to give the cadet some initiative. It was clearly not working. The sergeant pushed the cadet on the ground, got down next to him, and yelled again, as the cadet attempted to start push ups. The unknown sergeant stood up and yelled again, violently moving about as he yelled at the cadet. Suddenly, the sergeant upholstered his phase pistol, and fired in the cadets back. The cadet flared about as the beam hit him the sergeant fired again, causing the cadets body to flare about more violently. Firing one last time, the cadets body moved so hard that his back bent upward in a unnatural position. Sato saw the drill sergeant look over at something she couldnt see, as he again started yelling. Then two officers, came into view, and fumbled at the now dead cadets body as the worked to remove it from the grounds. Sato let out a smile, impressed at the sight.

Hmm that drill sergeant may have a future in command maybe.

Empress Sato was so lost in thoughts; she had not noticed that Travis Mayweather walk into the room. Mayweather had been her personal guard sense he turned against Commander Archer eight months ago. Suddenly, Sato noticed a reflection in the mirror and spun around, knife in hand, ready to pounce when she noticed who it was. Her eyes narrowed.

You shouldnt sneak up on me like that.

Travis just looked at her then coolly responded,

You wouldnt have made it another step had you chose to attack me.

Mayweather was right. The slightest flinch from Sato singled to him that she had drawn her knife, to which, he responded by readying his weapon, which was aimed squarely are her chest. Sato sighed. There was a reason why she kept her little lap dog as her guard. He was quick, and was always on alert.

What do you want? She demanded.

You wanted to now when the Renegade arrived with captain Bishop. They arrived five minutes ago, and the Captain will be here in ten

Sato nodded. She stepped over to Mayweather, holstering her knife. He just watched her walk over. He wasnt much of a talker. She didnt mind that though, she didnt want talkers.

I hear you had an altercation with a lieutenant commander in the court yard today. Something about him being put in the infirmary?

Travis looked at her for a moment, as if not knowing what she was talking about, then replied.

Morgue

Sato chuckled.

Hes in the morgue? What did he do?

He got in my way

Sato smiled.

Hmmm my little lap dog.

She inched closer to Mayweather, touched his arm with a finger.

Well, remind me never to get in your way

Travis, still showing no emotion, replied to her statement.

You would know by now if you had

Sato chuckled again, taken aback by Mayweathers sudden attitude change.

My, my, my you have changed in the last few minutes.

You dont have anyone else to trust, I dont see you getting rid of me anytime soon.

Sato chuckled again, enjoying his new tone with her.

So the lap dog has guts after all.

Sato leaned in, to kiss Mayweather, when the visitor announcement chime rang. Sato was annoyed. Being interrupted was not something she enjoyed.

Go away!!

Sato leaned in again, only to be interrupted yet again by the chime.
What do you want!! she demanded.

The door opened and a six foot officer, in full uniform walked in. His hair was short and jet black, with a goatee matching the color. The officer spoke.

Captain Bishop reporting as ordered Empress.

Bishop did a salute, while facing forward, standing at attention. Bishop completely ignored Mayweather. Sato looked at her guard.

Wait outside.

Mayweather looked to Bishop, then back to her. He didnt move. Sato quickly lost patience and spoke to him again.

Move it now!!

Mayweather jumped to, saluted, and then turned to leave. Bishop craned his neck to watch him leave, when he head the doors close, he face forward again. Sato walked over to him.

Youre the Captain Bishop Ive heard so much about the last few days?

Bishop didnt respond, he just stood rigid, at attention of his Commander in chief.

Hmm more than I expected.

Bishop swallowed, unsure what she meant. Sato walked towards him, then around him. Bishop felt her walk behind and brushed against him. She came around the front again.

Do you ever talk?

Only if its worth responding to Empress Bishop replied.

Sato smiled. Thoughts ran though her mind.

Ha! This one has guts to. Hmm, I seem to spark this in men a lot lately.

Bishop still stood rigid. He faced forward, his eyes fixed on the same spot on the window on the other side of the room. It was the same one that Sato once stood at and watched the cadet execution.

Sato spoke.

I hear you had some trouble at the mining prison on Vulcan.

Bishop took a deep breath, and then replied.

The Vulcan rebels some how got a hold of Empire weapons, then lead a revolt on the prison. Those responsible for the prison security have been executed.

Sato smirked, and then lashed out.

Yet here you stand before me.

Bishop held his tongue on his true thoughts at the moment.

I am not responsible for keeping those Vulcan animals locked up.

Sato shrugged the lashed out again.

Youre responsible for that prison and everything that happens in it.

With out thinking, Bishop spurred out.

I never wanted to be on that Filthy planet in the first place. I was put there by your predecessor.

Sato quickly replied.

Bah! It does not matter who put you where, what matters is that a rebellion outbreak occurred under your watch.

Bishop growled.

I have nothing, and want nothing to do with those damned Vulcans, we should just kill them all!

Sato smiled again. She was getting the reaction she wanted.

Im sure, but then, who would we get to mine the planets resources?

Bishop just grunted. Sato walked around him again, looking him over.

Well, I imagine, you want to get back at the rebels, teach them a lesson.

Bishop nodded.

Of course Empress, its not even a question that needs to be asked.

Sato chuckled.

Im sure it doesnt. Thats why I am giving you the Vengeance.

Bishop sighed. Sato noticed and made a query.

What?

Well Bishop began. I was hoping for the Defiant, its no secret that you have it, and that sense you took command of the Empire, its sat in mothballs.

Sato laughed.

Why would I give you the most powerful ship in the Galaxy?

Bishop let a second go by before responding.

Well, the NX battle ships are weaklings by comparison, and Im sure we both want the rebellion to be crushed, something that wont happen with the Defiant in mothballs.

Sato smiled again.

Well, its not in mothballs, Ive been having it studied, to see if more could be built.

Bishop relaxed a little and looked over at her.

Youve had it reverse engineered?

Sato smiled.

Not in the sense youre speaking of. In searching the database, the needed specifications were found. Now they just need to be studied. The torpedoes already have been, and more has been made to restock the ship. Funny though, they cant seem to make them stronger.

Bishop smiled.

They wont be able to.

Sato was interested.

Oh? Just how do you know that?

Easy, the technology was created by minds from the future.

Sato still interested.

What does that have to do with anything?
Bishop responded.

I am reminded, by a saying my father once told me. If forget who said it. A sail boat engineer from the 18th century could reverse engineer, and study an aircraft carrier from the 20th, make copies, but would not be able to improve upon the technology.

Sato shrugged.

What ever. Youre getting the Vengeance, and thats that.

Bishop grunted again. Sato continued.

If the Fleet Admiral had his way, youd be executed. When he saw that wasnt going to happen, he insisted you get a Moon Shuttle. Admiral Jacobson said that you should get something better, a Troop Transport.

Bishop, staring strait ahead, had a visible look of anger. Sato didnt let that stop her.

I of course, said that you would get Vengeance, after all, you did make up for your failure when the Renegade arrived and ambushed the rebels.

Sato stepped closer to Bishop.

Awww whats the matter?

Bishop swallowed, and did not answer.

Tsk, Im sure your just aching to tell me whats wrong with you captain Bishop.

Bishop sighed,

Whats wrong is, I want the Defiant. The rebels will win if all we have are the NX battle ships. They make sure they outnumber us when Empire ships are ambushed.

Sato glared at Bishop.

You dont think I am not aware of that!!

She angrily stepped away from Bishop. She was visibly fuming, Bishop smirked which disappeared as soon as she spun around to face him.

Tell me what am I to do? Give someone like you the Defiant? Right, and let them take control from me. That is not going to happen.

Bishop looked at her. He felt pride inside knowing he hit a sensitive spot with her.

I dont give a damn about being in charge of the Empire, I dont want to. I want to kill every damned rebel scum there is, so the Empire can continue its conquest.

Sato scoffed, she began to pace.

You cant tell me ultimate power is not appealing to you.

Bishop grunted again,

To hell with ultimate power, I want a ship, one that can lie waste what it sees. I dont want politics.

Sato glared at him again.

Bull, youre just like everyone else; you want the Empire for your self.

Bishop felt anger to swell within him.

I just told you I dont want the damned office, I want the Defiant, you can keep the office for all I care.

Its not going to happen! Sato bellowed. Now get out!

The door opened behind Bishop, there stood Mayweather, who had heard the whole commotion. Phase rifle at ready, and aimed at Bishop, Mayweather just stood to the side enough for Bishop to be able to leave. Bishop turned and faced Mayweather with a glare.

Are you prepared to use that?

Mayweather gave no answer, he just stood there, finger over the trigger. Bishop continued.

The last person that aimed a weapon at me didnt intend to use it. The last thing he felt was the barrel being shoved into his mouth just before I fired.

Mayweather just continued his cold stare, waiting for Bishop to leave. Disgusted, Bishop stepped out into the hall. The door to the room with Sato closed, and Mayweather was out in the hall with him, still staring at him. Bishop turned and faced the wall. With a growl, he punched the metal wall, leaving a slight dent. Bishop hand fell on the waist high hallway length rail, and ripped of a section with another growl and threw it down the hall. Mayweather stepped forward, and placed a hand on his shoulder. Bishop spun around and side kicked Mayweather in the gut, which sent him back. Bishop then did a jump kick to the head which sent Mayweather back to the wall, which he slammed into, then falling to the floor on his knees. Before Mayweather could get up, Bishop spun with a leg coming out, and kicked squarely on the head, knocking Mayweather out cold before he hit the floor. Bishop let out another growl; he then stormed off, pushing a young Ensign out of the way violently as he went down the hall.

This chapter was hard to make. I could not get statisfied with what ever came out on paper. The orgional version, was to take place in a bar, shortly after the confrontation between Bishop and Mayweather. I started writting, and realized, that the bartender's character changed way to drasitcly in one sentence. One moment, hes afraid of the characters the next, hes tuanting them. I just didnt feel right about it. I did a rewrite, which ended up the same way, but not as bad, but towards the end, even worse, was getting to comical. The third version, the Comical part was eleminated, but it just didnt seem to go together well, what I had written down. So, then I moved on to what i have here, and started it, did some re writes, and finaly finished it. I had Exalya look it over and offer suggestions, which I really appreicate. So, here it is, chapter three, finaly written and posted. I hope the wait on chapter four is not as long as the wait for chapter three was.

Chapter Three

The reactor thrummed has it mixed the matter and anti-matter. The chief Engineer of the vengeance, one Lieutenant Commander Ryan Jacobs, stood looking at the warp core. The ship would be leaving the repair yard soon. The Vengeance had engaged a rebel ship, a Vulcan one, to be exact. Jacobs never learned the ships name. He didnt care. All that mattered to Jacobs was the damage to the Vengeance. That, and that despite the damage received, they managed to destroy the Vulcan ship.

What ever. Jacobs thought. It just means that many less Vulcans we have to deal with.

Jacobs stepped back, looking at the warp core from a different angle. After a moment, he turned to check out the rest of engineering. Thats when he saw it, a crewman, near an open wall access. The officer had taken something apart. Jacobs stormed over, reached for the mans shoulders, and spun him around.

Hey! Jacobs bellowed. Who told you to do this?

Well, uh no one really sir. I saw that it had become damaged in the battle.
The officer seemed to stutter.

Jacobss eye went wide with rage. So, you took it upon your self to take apart an off limits system?

The officer, showed no signs of budging, he was holding his ground. It was damaged, its something this ship cant go with out.

Jacobs replied immediately. That is an off limits power converter for the weapons system. You need permission from me, security, and the captain to access it!

The crewman still didnt move. In fact, he chuckled. As I understand it, if there is a problem, youre the one that catches the blame.

Jacobs was now wild with rage. He grabbed the crewman, and started pushing him towards the door. Get out! Get out before I kill you!

The crewman stumbled backwards, as Jacobs shoved him. The crewman had fallen at the feet of two MACO officers. Jacobs looked at them, and with the anger still in his voice.
What the hell do you want?

The taller MACO spoke. The Captain wants to see you, now.

Jacobs sighed. The bridge had most likely detected the access to the weapons power converters. He reluctantly went for the door, and stepped out. He went to the turbo lift and hit the call button. A whir told him the lift was on the way.

Captain Tristin Bishop stood in his ready room. On the wall, there was a sword. It reflected the light like a mirror, and was several feet long. It was actually a Katana, an old one. Tristin smirked as he picked it up. His father, Kyle Bishop, had used it on several Andorians, who had attempted to take control of his ship. Always being one for creativeness in executions, Kyle had taken the sword, and battled the Andorians. Each one, no matter what they did, eventually died by the sword. Tristin had heard that Kyle had used the sword in a manner that would be lethal for the Andorians, but not immediately. That it took them all, several days to die. Tristins right hand wrapped around the handle as inspected the sword. The smooth surface seemed to be one with his hand. The thin cloth on it, kept the cold of the metal, from reaching his hand, while also, providing a stable grip. The sword was old. Tristin wasnt sure how old it was, it had been passed down, sense at least his grandfathers generation. It had, been taken care of by every owner. Tristin was no exception, because of this; the sword was still in usable condition. Something Tristin hasnt actually done yet. He sighed, as the memories rushed to him. At age twelve, he got to touch it for the first time. At age thirteen, he began training to use it. At age 16, he got it, when his father was murdered. Tristin held the Katanaup, to inspect the blade. The light reflected off the blade, like silver. He held the sword, and made a few half hearted movements with it, while not moving his left hand. Suddenly, the door chime sounded. Tristin snapped out of his thoughts, and looked to the door.

Enter

The door opened and Chief Engineer Jacobs walked in.

Jacobs felt himself tense, when the captain gave the MACO a nod, which was returned, followed by the MACOs departure. The Captain was holding a rather scary looking sword. It was definitely something that could kill. It was not just a displayable. The captain stepped over, still holding the sword. Jacobs recognized it as a Katana. At least, thats what it looked like. He wasnt a sword person, so they all looked similar to him. The captain spoke.

Whats this I hear about the unauthorized access to the weapons power converters?

Jacobs tensed again. This is it. This is where, no matter what he says, the blame, will rest on him. Crewman Davis took it upon

The captain shook his head. No, no, no, I am not interested in excuses. You are in charge down there. I expect you to keep your men in better shape then that.

Jacobs stared forward, as the captain began to pace. Commander, what goes on in that room, is your responsibility. That means the blame is yours to take.

Big surprise Jacobs thought.

The captain continued.

Youre supposed to be aware of everything down their Commander. If someone sneezes, I would think, you would know it was going to happen, before it actually did.

Jacobs kept his ground. He did not budge. He stared forward, on the same spot he found to look at when he entered. He heard the captain speak again.

Commander, youre under my watch for less then a day and I already want to throw you out the airlock. Unfortunately, were docked, the Airlocks open to the shipyard. Lucky for you wouldnt you say?

Jacobs didnt answer. He heard footsteps, and then felt something cold on his throat. The Katana! The captain had the tip in of the blade on his throat.

I asked you a question commander.

Jacobss swallowed nervously, and then answered. Yes sir, very luckily for me sir.

Jacobs heard the captain let out a disgusted sigh. The blade moved, which allowed Jacobs to relax a little. The captain walked back to what appeared to be the Swords storage rack on the wall. The captain spoke. What crewman did you say decided to take it upon him self?

Jacobs answered with out hesitation. Crewman Davis, Sir

The captain nodded, and then replied. Kill Him

Jacobs broke his posture, to look at the captain. Hes the best we have.

The Captain suddenly spun around, and the blade was on Jacobss neck. Its him, or you Commander. Its your choice.

Jacobs responded. Aye Sir, kill him.

The captain moved the blade slightly. Youre dismissed.

Jacobs turned and walked toward the door. It had just opened when the Captain spoke. Commander

Jacobs stopped, but didnt turn to look at the captain. You speak to me like that again, and Ill kill you.

Jacobs acknowledged the captain. Aye captain, it wont happen again.

Get out of here.

Jacobs walked off, as soon as the captain had finished speaking. He went for the turbolift. Now, it was time to find crewman Davis.

Here it is, Chapter Four. It wasn't hard to write, I was just to lazy to write it all at once. There was actually no major rewrites. I hope you enjoy

Chapter Four

Ryan Jacobs walked down the dark corridors. His mind raced over the last few hours. He had followed the captains orders. Davis, was found, and killed. Ryan had enjoyed killing him actually. Davis had purposely made him look bad in the eyes of the captain. As a consequence, Davis had not died quickly. He screamed a lot. Ryan, having known many forms of martial arts, had used Davis as a punching dummy (actually had tied him against the wall) in which he inflicted pain at every joint, every angle. When he was bored of this, he brought Davis down. Davis had started to get up when Ryan took a knife, Daviss own in fact, to his throat. Slowly, he dragged it across, and then walked off. That was several hours ago. Now, one Ryan Jacobs, chief engineer of the ship, walked down the corridor, towards engineering. He had not cared who found Davis, or even, what would happen. Too many people had betrayed him, far too many. Jacobs was lost in this thoughts, when suddenly, someone had pushed him. Jacobs went forwards, falling on the floor. He turned and looked to see who had pushed him down. Standing over him, was a young ensign. Who it was, Jacobs didnt know. He even didnt care who it was. This young, nameless ensign, was about to die for what he did. Jacobs stood, and withdrew his knife.

Who ever you are, that was a mistake. For now, you are going to die. Jacobs said bluntly.

The ensign sneered. Unlikely, no one has survived.

Jacobs scoffed. Are you going to talk? Or are you going to attack me? Maybe I should turn my back to you again?

The unnamed ensign growled, and lunged himself at Jacobs. Jacobs was ready. He reached out, and grabbed the attacker, and quickly moved aside, using the attackers own momentum, to throw him into the wall. The man hit the wall, with a thump. He quickly recovered. He turned and faced Jacobs. Youll pay for what you did to Davis.

Jacobs sighed. He was sick of this. Just who the hell are you?

His associate, thats all a dead man needs to know. The attacker lunged at Jacobs again, and this time, tackled him. Jacobs slammed into the wall with a loud thud, which echoed down the hall. Jacobs threw his head forward into the attacker, hitting him square in his face. The attacker loosened his grip; Jacobs used this moment, to kick him away. The unnamed ensign, recovered, and glared at Jacobs. When you die, I will be sure I am the last thing you see.

Jacobs glared back. What makes you think I am the one that will die? Jacobs attacked this time, kicking the officers right hand, and knocking the knife out of it. He then kicked at his knee, which gave in, with a loud crack. Jacobs went behind the attacker, and grabbed him, placing his neck in his arm. Squeezing just enough, so the man could barely breathe, Jacobs leaned in. He whispered in the attackers ear. You should have heard Davis, the way he screamed. The way he pleaded for the pain to end. Before the attacker could say anything, Jacobs brought his left arm up, with a quick movement. Snap! The attacker fell to the floor in a heap. His neck is now broken from the force of Jacobss movement. Jacobs turned him over, and looked at the name tag on the officers uniform. Malone. Jacobs didnt recognize the name. Nor, did he care to. He took one last look at the body. He stood up, turned towards the direction he was originally going, and continued on towards engineering. The sound of the reactor filled his ears when he walked in. The repairs were almost done. Jacobs saw an officer closing the weapon power converter panel, this time permission had been obtained. Jacobs looked around the room. It was crowded, and several officers were all doing various tasks. Jacobs went up a level, standing on a catwalk. He was in his spot, where he could watch over the entire room. He had complete control in this room, and instilled fear into his officers. Fear of the price of failure, is what kept the officers going. Jacobs was standing there, lost in his thoughts, when the intercom buzzed. A voice spoke.

This is the Captain. Soon, this ship will be back on the front lines, fighting the rebels. You all have served on this vessel for many years, while I have only served for hours. I know that each of you will do your duty, to the best of your ability. When we launch, we will head for rebel space. Soon, they will know the wrath of this ship, this crew, this ship. They will know the wrath of the Empire!

Jacobss listened to the Captain speak. He tuned out the warp core, something he learned long ago to do.

This ship, this crew, will lead the empire to victory. Not, over empty promises, but over determination! I know, that each, and every one of you, want victory! Long live the Empire!

Jacobs, and the other engineers, automatically, repeated the last statement, along with an empire salute. The announcement buzzer sounded again, and almost immediately, the com panel beeped, the captains voice sounded though the speaker. Bridge to Engineering.

Jacobs walked over, and tapped the reply button. Engineering, Jacobs here.

Whats the status on the repairs?

Jacobs replied Were closing everything up now Captain, ten minutes.

There was a silence. An uncomfortable one actually, finally, after several minutes, the captain spoke. Fine, ten minutes.

Jacobs winced as he heard the anger in his voice. They really, should have been done several minutes ago. Several events, including the episode with Davis, had delayed the repairs. Jacobs slid down the ladder, to the main engineering level. Alright, we got ten minutes! Lets get this stuff done!
Several Officers ran around, rushing the finishing touches. Panels snapped shut. Consoles came back online. Jacobs went to a status display. Weapons had their full power, so did the engines. As far as he knew, hull plating was also repaired. The tractor beam had been finished hours ago, long before the Davis situation. The warp coils appeared to be all set. Several minutes later, he received a report, that the ship was done repairs. Jacobs felt some pride. All of this shoving around, yelling, beatings, instilling fear, all had worked out. He walked over to the com panel, and had informed the bridge. He received the acknowledgement, and the com line was cut off. The warp core thrummed faster, as more power was called for use. The ship was about to be launched. Jacobs stood in front of the Warp core, facing the display access. The Hum in the floor told him that the thrusters were in use.

Out in space, the running lights of the ship were coming on. The lights on the nacelles grew brighter, until aft full power. Anything that belong to the shipyard, detached from the vengeance, and the ship slowly, crawled out of the station. The lights bounced off the hull as the ship passed them. The decoration of the Terran Empire seemed to glow as the ship thrummed with power. When the ship was out of the shipyard, the impulse engines activated, propelling the ship away from the station. Not long after, the warp engines activated, and now, faster then the speed of light, the Vengeance once again, was on the hunt for rebels.
